Founded in 2002 by Idris Lahore, the Free University of Samadeva isa private educational institution.

It is directed by Ennea Tess Griffith, assisted by a team of sevenpermanent instructors and about a dozen visiting teachers.

The Free University offers training courses for the general public andalso for professionals in the fields of health, counselling, psychology, education, and well-being. During our annual programs, a wealth oftechniques and methods are taught with the goal of enriching both ourpersonal and professional development.

Many of these methods have their source in Samadeva, originating inthe traditional Dervish art of health and well-being. The techniques ofSamadeva are based on traditional Western and Eastern knowledge, drawing from ancient forms of philosophy, arts, science, and spirituality.

The Free University of Samadeva seeks to cultivate these practicalmethods and knowledge, considering them to be part of the heritage ofhumanity. The techniques of therapeutic Samadeva were taught to IdrisLahore by the Hakim Dervishes of Kafiristan, who are said to be at the

source of Eastern and Middle Eastern traditional forms of medicine –including Hindu Ayurveda and yoga, Chinese acupuncture and Chi Gong, and Tibetan medicine.

Taking these techniques out of their folkloristic attire, Idris Lahoreadapted them to Western men and women of today with the assistance ofhis collaborators in the fields of medicine, psychology, and physicaltherapy and specialists in song, music, and dance.

Teachers, instructors, practitioners, counsellors, health educators, and well-being coaches will find at the Free University a wide offering ofcertified training courses, addressed both to people on a path of personaldevelopment and people who, having reached a turning point in theirlives, want to begin a new profession that is closer to their aspirations orcomplements their personal experience. At the Free University, they willfind a training course that suits their needs.

Located in the charming village of Le Hohwald in Alsace, France, theFree University is housed in a superb hotel residence, the “ClosErmitage,” a perfect setting for residential training courses and seminars.

A global pedagogical approach

The originality of our pedagogical approach is that we are convinced that inorder to acquire knowledge or practical know-how, we need to integrate iton three levels, intellectual, emotional, and physical. This is why the structure of the training courses is based on physicalmethods, on acquiring knowledge, and on sharing our experience with eachother and practicing in a group (bringing in the interpersonal dimension). These three aspects come together in order to promote a harmoniousdevelopment for each person.

A humanist approach

We offer training courses and seminars on a residential basis in order tocreate a group dynamic and better synergy, helping participants betterconnect with each other and with the trainers.

Psychocorporal techniques - presentation

• What are they good for?The psychocorporal techniques we teach are methods that lead to

health, well-being, and harmony. They liberate our tensions, both physicaland psychological, through movements that are always done with respectfor the body and its limits.

These techniques are addressed to everyone who wants to maintaintheir health and equilibrium, or to restore them, and particularly to peoplesuffering from the consequences of stress. These psychocorporalapproaches also enable us to better deal not only with our physical, emotional, and intellectual difficulties, but also with all the situations ofour lives.

In our individual and group courses and seminars, we welcome peoplefrom all social and professional classes and all age categories, since ourmethods bring each person a possibility of improving their physical orpsychological difficulties and quality of life. Through these techniques, participants learn to mobilize psychological and physical resources thatthey didn’t know they had; thanks to this, they can then better manage

their neuro-vegetative and psychological state. This mobilization of ourlatent resources, in other words resources we haven’t used up until now,is one of the central aspects of our methods; we make use of thepossibility that exists in each person to positively and creativelytransform our ways of functioning, attitudes, and ways of thinking orfeeling. In short, our way of living!

The state of mind we need in order to do this work is the state ofbecoming responsible. Then our methods increase the will and taste forlife of those who practice them, who rediscover, beyond simply improvedphysical well-being, a new mental clarity and improved psychologicalequilibrium.

• Where do they come from? The masters of the past, for example the Hakim Dervishes, Taoist

masters and Hindu yogis, developed these practices (for the most partenergetic) in order to have a direct action upon the energies, strengthening and balancing them.

These techniques include Samadeva Gestural Euphony (Dervish Yoga),Lou Yong of the Taoist masters, and Hindu Yoga. They are methods ofhealth and well-being, but at the same time of personal development, andpossibly of spiritual evolution as well. They can be used for oneself or tohelp other people.

In the context of Samadeva, we have adapted three of the traditionalpsychocorporal methods, distilling their quintessence. In this way,Gestural Euphony (originating in Samadeva), Nadi Yoga (originating inVedic and Ayurvedic techniques), and Lou Yong Tao Te Qi (originating in QiGong) were developed. These three methods also have the advantage – incontrast to most so-called intensive methods – of being suitable forchildren and elderly people, for people in good health and for people witha handicap or illness.

PresentationThe Free University of Samadeva trains euphonist energetic

practitioners, educators in health and well-being, counsellors, andindividual and group coaches.

During personal consultations, group sessions, or seminars, theytransmit their knowledge and practical know-how, which excludes anyform of medical diagnostic or therapy.

They can practice as a freelancer or as a salaried employee of anorganization or business. To help his client, he knows how to applydiscernment in using the appropriate tools, which may be from DervishYoga, the Essential Psychology, the Psychology of the Enneagram,Meridian Energetic Techniques, or one of the other branches of Samadeva.

Educator in health and well-being

As an educator in health and well-being, he does not give a diagnosticor therapy (unless he is a certified medical doctor or psychotherapist), butproposes energetic or psychocorporal exercises that help regulate theenergies, leading to an improvement in physical and psychological well-

being. In the same way, consultations with a euphonist are not orientedtoward psychotherapy, an area reserved for practicing therapists withspecialized training. The orientation of his practice is “essential,” that isto say, it is addressed to a person’s essence and not his psyche. Certainmethods are given to specialists, such as doctors, psychologists, psychotherapists, physical therapists, and scientists. It is up to them toverify the usefulness and validity of these methods according to thenorms that govern the practice of their profession. The practitioner canpractice the same activities as the teacher and instructor, provided he hasobtained the teacher and instructor certificates.

About the areas of application in italics: according to the current legislation in different countries, certain techniques can only bepracticed by specialized euphonists (doctors, physical therapists, and psychotherapists, for example). However, in the context ofhealth education, certain among these reserved techniques can be taught in the form of self-treatments (Therapeutic Arkanas, auto-adjustments, energetic techniques, hand massage...). The euphonist is above all a health educator, allowing us to acquire betterknowledge of our physical, emotional, and intellectual functioning (Enneagram types, features, negative emotions…).

Presentation

• Harmonizing the body and spiritInspired by the Science of Movements taught for centuries in ancient

Dervish brotherhoods, and also other movements like yoga, tai chi chuan, chi gong and more recent methods like eurhythmy and stretching, DervishYoga (Samadeva Gestural Euphony) is a gentle psychocorporal practice. Ithas beneficial effects on the functioning of our organs, muscles, concentration, memory, and our entire physical and psychologicalequilibrium. Above and beyond our usual perception, our movements andgestures are the expression of our emotions and fundamental impulses; inthe same way, certain movements have an influence on our moods. Theeffects of stress brought about by our modern way of living are reduced, the functioning of our different organs is regularized, and our capacitiesof concentration, coordination, and memory are greatly improved. Thispractice of attention to ourselves helps reduce our physical andpsychological pains.

• Towards true self-knowledgeSamadeva Gestural Euphony draws from the ancient forms of

knowledge that integrated the body, intelligence, love, and spirituality.Developed by Ennea Tess Griffith and her collaborator Emma Thyloch, withthe participation of doctors, therapists, yoga instructors, and masters ofDervish dances, Samadeva Gestural Euphony is a true “teaching” of beingin its totality. It teaches us to listen to all the dimensions in ourselves, other people, and our environment. The practitioner discovers how he“functions,” which allows him, if he wishes, to acquire true knowledge ofhimself and his physical, emotional, and intellectual mechanisms.

Practicing Dervish Yoga, each person goes at his own rhythm, according to his abilities, concentrating on what he is experiencing, andlearns to perceive what is happening in himself, to listen to and accepthimself, without forcing, comparing, or judging. These movements can bepracticed by anyone of any age, without any particular physicalrequirements.

• Therapeutic benefits of the movementsThe Arkanas – specific postures of Dervish Yoga – harmonize the

functioning of our muscles, bringing them the necessary tone for activityand freeing them of useless tensions. More deeply, the oxygenation andrelaxation of tensions contribute to the proper functioning of ourrespiratory, digestive, and urogenital systems. A succession of slow or fastmovements, music, spoken words, and silence, Dervish Yoga practiced in agroup creates a space that allows us to feel true emotions. Thanks toharmony that is progressively created when each person feels himself ashe is, in the present moment, our gestures and emotions become moreflowing.

Samadeva Gestural Euphony (Dervish Yoga) is a method for ourhealth, bringing us calm and harmony in our physical body, emotions, andmind.

Originating in traditional and sacred dances of the Orient and Middle East, the dynamic dancesassociate an artistic dimension with rhythmic work and motor coordination.

• The 7 Major Arkanas, health exercises par excellence

• Meditative Movements

The Meditative Movements, also known as “Movements that Heal”, represent the letters of thealphabet and numbers in space. They are practiced very slowly, like a meditation in movement.Practicing them, we develop a true consciousness of our body, becoming more sensitive andrefining our capacities of perception.

• Walks

Refining the relationship between man and space: external space in the different directions,forward-backward, above-below, left-right, and also one’s own inner space, in order to come toa right relationship, a breathing between “inside” and “outside.”

The Dervishes call the 7 Major Arkanas (secret exercises) of Samadeva exercises ofrejuvenation. They are simple and at the same time extraordinarily revitalizing, strengtheningthe body and bringing it health, energy, flexibility, and relaxation. They rebalance the psyche, slow the aging process and regenerate the mind, which becomes sharper.

• Quick to learn, with immediate effects Lou Yong Tao Te Qi is a Chinese-Tibetan energetic method for health andlongevity. The goal of this practice is to bring the body’s energy intoharmonious circulation, re-establishing physical and psychologicalbalance. The specific quality of Lou Yong Tao Te Qi is that it can be learnedvery quickly. While months or even years are necessary in order to learnQi Gong or Tai Chi, Lou Yong Tao Te Qi is a form that can be learned in aweekend, and it is not necessary to practice much before seeing theeffects: we feel them already after the first session! Lou Yong Tao Te Qi hasan immediate effect on the body and spirit, since it is a completepsychocorporal method which, through movements or immobility, bringsin not only concentration (sometimes the minimum that is possible for aperson; the minimum is already a beginning!), but also the capacity forvisualization.

• Feeling Qi energy in the body The principle of Lou Yong Tao Te Qi is to lead the energy Qi from the

infinity of space and nature towards the body, allowing the body’s Qi to

flow, particularly in all the places where it is blocked (blockages manifestthrough illnesses and other troubles). When the energy is flowingharmoniously in the meridians or energetic pathways once again, we feelhealthy, full of energy and vitality, and in harmony with ourselves andthose around us. The movements appear simple and easy, and seem like alight and elegant dance. They lead to a letting-go, relaxation, andregeneration of our body and mind. Lou Yong Tao Te Qi is learned in threestages: first we learn to correctly practice the movements, then we learnto feel the flowing of Qi energy, and finally we learn to acquire serenityand a mastery all our mental processes.

• Energetic hygiene : “Nei Gong of the Hidden Way” Nei Gong means literally, “work from the inside.” This general term

encompasses a multitude of energetic practices originating in the greatphilosophical and religious systems of China, and particularly in Taoistalchemy. Nei Gong of the Hidden Way was taught by Master Huang ZhenHui, a Taoist sage and patriarch of Chen Yen, a form of tantric Buddhismvery close to Tibetan Dzogchen Buddhism.

• The Yoga of gentlenessNadi Yoga is a gentle and non-violent form of yoga. Its exercises have

the goal of reconnecting the “nadis,” or energetic pathways; well-being inour body, balance in our emotions, and clarity in our mind are the resultof these connections.

The nadi are thus energetic pathways that pass throughout the entirebody, allowing Oya, the vital energy, to circulate in all its parts – all theorgans, glands, and parts of the brain. The nadis are connected with ourenvironment and also with the chakras (or energetic centers); they alsotransmit all forms of information in our body, down to the very smallestcells. According to the philosophy of Nadi Yoga, every bodily, emotional, intellectual, relational, environmental, and even spiritual trouble is duefirst of all to a rupture in the circulation of energy in the energeticpathways. The techniques of Nadi Yoga make it possible to re-establishthese connections, in this way creating the basis for true well-being and areturn to health.

• Joy and inner balanceThe Nadi Yoga Model session respects a biological order ; not only are

the circulatory, muscular, articular, and nervous systems not disturbed, but on the contrary, they are rebalanced even more easily. The result iswell-being, health, calm, joy, and inner balance.

Nadi Yoga consists of simple exercises, movements, and postures, taught in such a way that each part of the body benefits from the exercise. For this reason it is extremely important to practice according to themodel sessions and to know the successive sequences of movements, postures, and breathing and concentration exercises.

• Listening to our bodyEach asana has a specific effect : warming or refreshing, calming or

stimulating, activating the energetic flow or allowing it to be collected inthe body. Certain asanas are to be practiced at the beginning of thesession, others at the end. In the same way, it is necessary to pass throughall the positions of the human being – upright, seated, and lying down. Each of these positions has a particular importance and the asanas areadapted to them.

By consciously practicing these physical exercises, we develop a moreand more subtle perception and intuition about what is good for us andwhat it is best to avoid, allowing us to live a more and more harmoniousand healthy life.

Where do they come from?During his voyages to the temples and monasteries of Central Asia,

the Middle East, and the Far East, Gurdjieff observed that music and dancewere used not only for the transformation and conscious evolution ofman, but also for the transmission of a certain knowledge. Gurdjieffcreated many dances himself, creating a bridge between the esotericknowledge of the East and the scientific methods of the West.

Master of dance and spiritual teacher, Gurdjieff was able to adapt theesoteric traditions of the great spiritual traditions to the sensibility andneeds of contemporary society.

Fragments of a Teaching Sacred dances, also called "movements", play an essential role in

Gurdjieff’s Teaching, which also consisted of orally-transmitted ideas, practical exercises for everyday life, and musical and rhythmiccompositions. They form a branch of the "science of movements" and area very powerful tool, centering and fortifying the body and mind. They arecapable of revealing what is most profound in oneself.

If we are able to pass from an ordinary to a higher state, this impliesthat something in us has changed. This requires the harmoniousdevelopment of a person in his totality – body, mind, and heart.

A global development The practice of the "movements" can develop the perception of an

energy of a higher quality. For many people, their first impression of themovements will be a revelation, since they are very different fromanything that can be observed in the world of dance. They are an aid forself-observation and consciousness of oneself in everyday life.

The “movements” can thus have an extraordinary impact on thedancer’s psychological state.

According to the Sufis, the practice of Dervish dances leads to adevelopment on all levels of human nature: physical, emotional, intellectual, and even spiritual. They bring health, balance, happiness, calm, and harmony.

The dances Aesthetically, these strange dances are beautiful. The dancers are

usually placed in several files of six or seven performers, sometimes more, according to geometrical considerations. We can approximately imaginethese dances by picturing the succession, upon a given rhythm, slow orfast, of a certain number of positions and postures of the body (torso, legs, arms, head) as they appear in ancient paintings and bas-reliefs, a sort ofsacred alphabet in movement.

For someone seeking knowledge, these dances are like a book thatreveals certain laws: “the dance of the atoms,” the movement of theplanets, symbols, laws of involution and evolution of different energies. But for the performer, these dances are also a discipline of the body andspirit, a spiritual exercise for inner transformation.

• Gurjieff sacred movements and dances

• The practice of movements as they were transmitted by Gurdjieff. They originate in the Sufi,Tibetan, Buddhist, Esoteric Christian, and Pythagorean tradition. 400 movements andexercises were taught. 39 movements are the creation of Gurdjieff himself.

Some of the dances taught:Hymn to the Sun, the Sacred Goose, Polyrhythm, Multiplication 15, Russian Christmas,Ceremony for a Deceased Dervish…

• The series of 6 Obligatories, exercises originating in Sari (Tibet) and Kafiristan (Afghanistan).

• Inner exercises for the development of attention, subtle perceptions, and states ofconsciousness adapted to the practice of the movements (and to life!).

The Gurdjieff sacred movements and dances are accessible to everyone, independent of gender, age, or physical state. They create surprise and perplexity: one arm moves horizontally, the other vertically; the movement is sharp in one part of the body, flowing in another; at the same time, the eyes need to move in the opposite direction as the head…This practice opens new perspectives toward a new inner order, teaching the body and brain to function correctly and effectively, unified, and without useless tensions or lossesof energy.

“The forces that the Meditative Movements (part of Dervish Yoga)reveal in us are something we can bring into our everyday life. The moreof them we have, the more our life will be the expression of the harmonyof these forces. Body, heart (or soul) and mind are maintained in a state ofharmony by the energy, or force, that manifests during the practice of theMeditative Movements. This energy is the force of life, or etheric force.

The more of this force of life we have, the greater our vitality in body, heart, and mind. Vitality is characterized by mobility and the faculty ofadaptation; its opposite is rigidity, which can manifest in the body(muscular tensions, hardening of the arteries…), the soul (fear, insensibility…), and the mind (mental rigidification, fanaticism…)

Practicing the Meditative Movements has an action of resolving thesetensions, once we have become conscious of them. They also have a

positive effect on our vitality, mood, and work capacity. We rediscover thepleasure and joy of life, which not only lead to spiritual harmony, but alsoincrease our self-confidence and positively transform even ourappearance and physical contours.

But in order for this to become a reality, we absolutely need topractice them. The results will be the consequence of regular practice, ofthe seriousness and quality of work we have accomplished. Doing theexercises mechanically only leads to mediocre results. Wanting to forcethings has the same effect. We need to progress gently, practicingcorrectly; bringing the greatest attention to what we are doing; beingconscious of the slightest bodily gesture, the correct posture andbreathing, and also the right state of mind. Then each person will besurprised by the result.”

Learning the 40 Meditative Movements, also called the “movements thatheal,” representing the letters of the alphabet and numbers in space. They are practiced very slowly, like a meditation in movement.Practicing them, we develop a true consciousness of our body, leading toa more subtle sensibility and to a refinement of our faculties ofperception.

As Idris Lahore writes in his book, The Silence of the Body, “What wecannot discover through our body, we cannot discover in any other placein the world. It is about developing a philosophy at the heart of life bypracticing attention and letting-go, allowing us in this way to liberateourselves from our conditioned thoughts, emotions, and actions, thisincessant flow that covers us, darkens us, divides us, and makes us blindand deaf to true Life.”

Being the observer of our thoughts, emotions, and actions, withouttaking ourselves to be them… Whether in meditation or in the slowmovements, being attentive in calm and presence…

Then inner silence can enter and an opening to a reality of a moresubtle nature becomes possible…

The Silence of the BodyMeditation, seated and in movement

In the spirit of Ennea Tess Griffith’s work, you are offered three days ofreturn to yourself, practicing meditation, movements of Dervish Yoga, andmeditative walks. Three days of retreat in order to come away from stress, let go of our preoccupations, worries, and problems, simply returning toourselves, to presence in our body in the here and now. Three days to feelourselves exist in outer and inner silence, welcoming in this silence thespoken word and song in order to enter into contact with what is essentialwithin and outside of ourselves.

Do you know one of the great secrets of the monks in monasteries?Monks, particularly in the East and Near East, spend their most fruitful

time in a monastery, working and meditating. And they do this with joy! Why?The secret is that they know that through their meditation, they bringspiritual energies into the earth that enable matter to be spiritualized.

The second secret is that these same spiritual forces enter into theperson himself who is meditating, bringing him to his own inner spiritualworld and to the spiritual world beyond him.

• The Essential PsychologyThe Essential Psychology is a psychology of evolution and, for certain

people, of the transformation of being, following a subtle alchemicalprocess that Idris Lahore has adapted to the men and women of today onthe basis of the traditional teaching of the Hakim Dervishes.

Complementary to other psychological approaches, the EssentialPsychology sheds new light upon them, radically placing itself in adifferent dimension, that is, of going beyond the ego, of being rather thanhaving, without denying anything of what is indispensable to man whostands upright, "his feet on the ground and his head in the stars."

Seeking to deepen our knowledge of ourselves, other people, and theworld, it allows man to free himself from his conditioned patterns offunctioning, and to realize all the potentialities of his true nature. Throughthe Essential Psychology, we learn to know ourselves by acquiring amethod that leads to concrete practice. Man thus has the possibility of

raising himself above the level of incompleteness in which nature and hiseducation have left him.

The Essential Psychology connects us to a spiritual, more genuinedimension, beyond the mechanisms of our physical, emotional, andintellectual functioning. This is what makes it different from a form ofclassical psychology.

When man has measured the limits of his personality, he seeks tocome into contact with himself by going beyond his (always limitativeconditioning. “Who am I really, behind the mask?” then becomes anessential question. Man can then begin to reveal his own nature, that of aperson who can acquire consciousness and freedom, which distinguisheshim from his state of ordinary man or woman, identified with his ego.

• The Essential Psychology: an answer to the question ofmeaning

The Essential Psychology makes it possible to balance the place givento having and being. For us it is indispensable for our participants todevelop their quality of being just as much as their technical knowledge. This is one of the most important aspects of our code of ethics.

Course participants will find, through the Essential Psychology, answers to their justified existential questions.

• Another way of approaching systemic workPracticed for centuries in traditional societies, certain systemic

techniques - from the movement of the soul to the breath of the spirit -have been adapted to the Western public and its needs of today by IdrisLahore, integrating into them the knowledge and practical experiencederiving from the work of B. Hellinger, I. Sparrer, and M.V. von Kibed. Aremarkably powerful and effective form of mediation, this approach dealswith individual problems from a systemic perspective. By working with theproblem area of one person, the mediator also helps the people withwhom he or she is in relationship, at the family, relational, social, professional, or therapeutic levels.

Unshakeable ethical integrity, gentleness, and benevolence at theservice of a profound inner action characterise this approach. An ethicalcode is available for those who are interested.

• Or learn to give your life a new directionUsually we think that what happens in our lives is due to us, our fault,

or the result of our personal past. However, when we do something wedidn’t want to do or when we don’t do something we want to do, familyconstellations and representations reveal to us that what happens isn’tdue to us, but due to the influence of other members of our family system,to what hey did or neglected to do. Sometimes they are ancestors that wehaven’t even known. In representation and constellation work, thisconnection is referred to as an “entanglement”; we are entangled with amember of our family system.

It is difficult to observe these influences directly in our family. However, they can be the cause of serious bodily illnesses like cancer, psy-chological troubles like depression, repeated accidents, failures, andrecurrent difficulties in our lives.

The practice of euphonic representations or family constellationsmake them visible, bringing to light the influences that certain membersof our family and ancestors can have on us.

• A deep psychological knowledge of manThe Enneagram is based on a psychological knowledge of man that

was transmitted orally until the beginning of the 20th century, then madeavailable to the general public. It allows each of us to acquire a new visionof how we and other people function; we develop a finer understandingwhen we realize that we are not the army of little inner “I’s”, perpetuallydisagreeing with each other and each time taking themselves to be thewhole. The path begins with this discovery and continues by searching fora center of gravity, necessarily on the inside, that is anchored in our“essence,” our true nature. Through this essence, each of us can contactwhat is best in him- or herself.

• 9 personality typesThe Enneagram describes 9 personality types which are present in

every man and woman. Nonetheless, one of these 9 personality types isanchored in us most deeply. Beyond one’s outward behaviour, themechanisms of each Enneatype are surprisingly regular and can berecognized with practice. These automatisms, developed by each of the 9Enneatypes from their childhood conditioning, can be recognized, named, and their negative aspects overcome. Step by step, each person at his ownpace can then develop his real potential, acquire inner freedom, and bringa joyous stability into his life thanks to the balanced development of histhree centers, physical, emotional, and intellectual.

• The Essential PsychologyThe Essential Psychology, originating in the same source, allows us to

observe ourselves more and more correctly and gives us a means toovercome the ego, with the goal of realizing one’s “essence,” what is bestand most genuine in ourselves. Contributions from the EssentialPsychology are offered throughout the courses and make our trainingsunique, very close to the teaching of the Hakim Dervishes from which theyoriginated.

• Dervish Yoga Samadeva Gestural Euphony (Dervish Yoga), with its source in the

“science of movements,” will help you enter into contact with the forceand energy of the archetype of each Enneatype. You will be able to feel theinner state of each of the Enneatypes when they are at the best level ofthemselves, with what is deepest and most genuine in each of them. Youwill also practice the Arkanas (the fundamental movements of DervishYoga), which have a deep action on all the organic systems and energeticflow. In this way, you will be able to rebalance your emotional life on thebasis of an action on the body. Beyond our usual way of perceiving things, our movements and gestures are the expression of our fundamentalemotions and impulses; in the same way, our movements have aninfluence on these fundamental elements. The practice of euphonicmovements acts on our unconscious, harmonising it and transforming itpositively.

Succeeding in our life, realizing our potentialMeridian Energetic Techniques

• Introduction to the methods of the Hakim Dervishes The vital energy Oya flows in the human body in the form of fourteen

different energies known as Nafa. Each of these fourteen energies Nafa ispresent in an energetic pathway called Silsilla. The Nafa energies andSilsilla pathways are each in relationship with an organ or specificfunction, as well as to specific emotions and thought schemas.

According to the Hakim Dervishes, all our psychological andpsychosomatic troubles are due to a disturbance in the energetic flow, and this disturbance is what then manifests in the form of physical oremotional suffering. Our treatments have the goal of finding thesedisturbances and re-establishing a harmonious energetic flow.

• Simple, rapid, and effective techniques! The energetic techniques we offer are the fruit of the meeting

between Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yunani Dervish Medicine, andrecent discoveries in the English-speaking world, where they are known as“power techniques” and “instant therapies” – the energetic psychological

techniques known as T.F.T., E.F.T., T.A.T., and B.S.F.F., as well as scientificresearch in psychoneuroimmunology and energy psychology (cf.Sheldrake, Bohm, Diamond, Callahan, Erickson).

• Responsible for our health Become responsible for your own health thanks to simple, rapid, and

effective techniques that are certainly a revolution in the treatment andhealing of psychological difficulties and pain. In this course we learn tohelp ourselves overcome physical and psychological problems in a lastingway, and sometimes immediately. Practicing the techniques, each personis naturally led to take responsibility for his own health in its physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions (the techniques can bepracticed after the end of each level).

• Energetic systems and fields of force In order to understand how Meridian Energetic Techniques work, we

need to understand some preliminary notions: one the one hand, the exis-tence of energetic or informatic systems, and on the other, the existenceof fields of force or morphogenic fields (the Dervish “Makam”), both inman and in his close or more distant environment. Man is a many-leveledmorphic field: physical, structural, biophysical, biochemical, emotional, and intellectual, for example. These different elements are interconnec-

ted with each other and when one of them is disturbed, this has repercus-sions on the others. Troubles at these different levels can be caused bystress or by traumas that were not integrated by a person in his totality,by his “system.

”Meridian Energetic Techniques make it possible to rebalance physi-cal, psychological, and behavioral disturbances by means of a corporaland psychoenergetic approach.

• Course subjects Learning to actively participate in the improving our physical health

and well-being with an action on pain, joint mobility, and emotional states(for example, depression, fear, anger, and obsessions).

This is achieved using energetic techniques (7 and 17 Lataifs, amongothers) that make use of the relationship between the energetic and bio-informatic systems, and between the emotions, thought schemas, andbehaviors.

• What is Reiki?Reiki is a simple and effective method for health, well-being,

relaxation, regeneration, and revitalization that is practiced by touch andthe laying on of hands, for oneself and for other people. It is a traditionalmethod in Japan, where it is taught by many different schools.

The Japanese word reiki means “energy of universal life,” which inChina is also called qi (or chi), in India prana or oya, and in the West, theForce or vital energy. The Reiki energy is omnipresent, and all of us are incontact with it. The successive initiations reinforce this connection andenable its more intensive use for oneself and other people.

• The practice and its benefits The Reiki initiate or energetic practitioner plays the role of

intermediary or transmitter between the energy (Reiki) and the receiver,to whom the energy is to be transmitted. The Reiki energy can also be

directed toward an object or situation, and it flows everywhere where aneed is felt.

The influx of energy fortifies, regulates, revitalizes, and harmonizesthe person who receives it, bringing about at the same time a deeprelaxation in both the practitioner and the client. Liberating the energeticblockages, the Reiki helps resolve inner conflicts and dissolvesaccumulated stress, while making us stronger in the face of the events ofour lives. It also stimulates our powers of self-healing.

• The effects • Liberates tensions, leading to a deep relaxation of our body and mind.• Develops vitality and regenerates us.• Calms pain and eliminates toxins.• Liberates psychological tensions due to stress, anxiety, and all negative

emotions.• Improves our capacity of concentration and memory.• Leads to calm and regenerative sleep.• Naturally improves our relationships with the people around us and with

our environment.• Contributes to personal development and enables an awakening and

growth of our innate or acquired talents.• Awakens consciousness of our body, emotions, and thoughts.• Increases self-confidence and self-esteem.• Makes us more sensitive in our senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste, and

smell.• Develops courage and a sense of responsibility for ourselves, other

people, and the environment (giving us a “green thumb” with plants).• Develops the capacities of empathy, understanding, and wisdom.• Increases compassion, acceptance, and love of other people.

• Knowledge and practical know-how, ancient and modernSamadeva Energetic Ayurveda (S.E.A.) is based on the knowledge and

practical techniques of the traditional medicine of the Rishis of ancientIndia; in fact, it even dates back to the Vedas. Idris Lahore has made it intoan original system of well-being and health, introducing the knowledge oftraditional Chinese medicine and Arab-Greek Yunani medicine, as well asspagyric, alchemical medicine and the Samadeva of the Hakim dervishes. To these forms of traditional medicine he has added the knowledge ofmodern scientific medicine, different forms of kinesiology and energetictherapies, and insights from quantum physics and psycho-neuroimmunology. The philosophical background is non-dualism as it isdeveloped in Vedanta Advaita, Taoism, and holotropic metaphysics.

• A return to health through energetic connectionsAccording to Samadeva Energetic Ayurveda, all problems of health or

well-being are individual and can only be completely and definitivelyresolved when all the energetic connections are corrected; this can onlybe done in a personalized way, respecting people’s individual differences. The human energetic body consists of approximately 350,000 nadis orenergetic pathways. Since any trouble can be connected to one or severaldisturbances in one of these connections, we can easily imagine that onlya totally personalized treatment can have any real chance of succeeding.

During a Samadeva Energetic Ayurveda session, the practitionercontacts the subconscious, or inner wisdom, of the client’s organism;using a technique of neuro-muscular biofeedback, he reestablishes thedisturbed connections. It is the organism itself which, in this dialogue withthe practitioner, gives the indication about which connections need to bereestablished, according to the level of priority determined by the client’sown individual needs.

It is a system of health and well-being that is addressed to our entireorganism as a whole. The practitioner knows that the organism (body, soul, and spirit) works synchronously, and not like a series of fragmentseach independent from the other. This also means that even when it is inbad health, disequilibrium, or illness, the entire organism, in other wordswith all its parts and all its fragments, is functioning synchronously. However, in a state of illness, this synchronous relationship is painful forus, and this painful state of illness leads to a premature wearing out of thewhole organism. The Samadeva Energetic Ayurveda practitioner thusintervenes in order to support the organism and its inner wisdom, allowing it to pass from a state of illness to a state of better health. Theorganism passes from a state of dysphony to a state of euphony, from astate of disequilibrium to a state of equilibrium, finding a solution ofbetter communication, synchronicity, and relationship between all theparts or fragments of the organism.

• Touch is nourishment for the bodyIt is essential because it opens us to our humanity, in other words, to

the reality of our physical consciousness. A child who isn’t touched isn’tconscious of his incarnation.

Without touch, it is impossible to be present to our body’s materiality;itis what brings it to light, it opens our being to the consciousness ofmatter. The body is made to be touched. Thus we can say that touch giveslife, since the body develops and unfolds thanks to touch.

• Euphonic Hakim Back Massage Hakim Massage is a dorsal energetic massage that has been practiced

for millenia in brotherhoods of Hakim Dervish healers (from the NearEast). It regenerates the intervertebral discs and gently stretches thevertebral column, balancing the psyche at the same time.

The rhythmic repetition of the gestures brings the body intoresonance with natural rhythms, alternating stretching, pressure, andeffleurage according to a precise protocol that revives the energeticcirculation, revitalizes the intervertebral discs, dissolves musculartensions, corrects micro-shifts in the vertebrae, and dissolves spasms. Atonce powerful and gentle, this massage can be practiced therapeuticallyor simply to improve our relaxation and well-being.

• Energetic face touch Energetic face touch is above all relaxing. It dissolves tensions and

sets the energetic flow in motion by stimulating points known as “Lataifs”by the Dervishes. It also has a calming action on the psyche and on all theinternal organs, liberating us from our physical, energetic, and emotionaltensions.

• ”Yunani” feet and hand touch The ”Yunani” touches are a very particular technique involving gentle

pressure and stimulation of the different reflex zones of the foot andhand. According to reflexology, each zone of the feet and handscorresponds to an organ, gland, or part of the body.

A specific touch applied to these zones makes it possible to localizetensions and re-establish the body’s equilibrium in the correspondingparts. Reflexology liberates the organism’s capacities of self-healing,helping it recover from many different kinds of troubles.

Stimulation techniques. • Learning the ”Yunani” foot and hand touch • State of mind of the Euphonic touches

Basic principle: as a practitioner, the quality of attention that you will be capable of giving toyourself will be the measure of the quality of attention that you will be capable of giving toyour patient or client. The Inner Euphonic Touch is a quality of inward-turned attention towardour movements, our breathing, and our immobility; it is sometimes called “presence tooneself.” It can be extended to our thoughts and emotions, and also to any inner sensation orsensation from the outside. The relational Euphonic touch is the capacity of attention that we can bring to the otherperson from this inward-turned attention, turned towards ourselves, with a simultaneouspresence to the other person; it is being present to oneself in order to be present to the otherperson. The Euphonic touch of the body is done with inward-turned attention, with presence toourselves, on the basis of which we enter into contact physically with the client.

• A solution to musculo-skeletal troublesA sedentary way of life, tensions due to stress, prolonged incorrect

postures, working with a computer screen, and repetitive tasks (on anassembly line, for example), are some of the causes of back, neck, andlimb pain, which can have lasting effects on our state of health.Periarthritis, back pain, carpal-tunnel syndrome, epicondylitis, rheumatism, blockages, and stiffness torment the lives of many of us.These troubles represent a veritable public health problem: musculo-skeletal troubles are the first cause of professional illness! Every incorrectjoint position irritates the nerve fibers next to it and thus generates pain, disturbing at the same time the free energetic flow along the bioelectricpathways (or Silsillas) that pass through the joints. This disturbance ofenergetic flow has consequences on all the organs these pathways areconnected with, as well as on the specific aspects of the psycheassociated with them. The articular treatments are based on an originalmethod with its sources in ancient traditions, at the same time in

complete agreement with the most recent discoveries in medicine, suchas cybernetic neurobiology and bioelectric informative lines. This methodallows us to gently readjust the minimal articular subluxations that giverise to pain and discomfort, from the most benign to the mostincapacitating. It stimulates processes of revitalization in our joints andhas a global action on our organism by means of the energetic flow andneurotransmitters.

• Hakim back massage Hakim Massage is a dorsal energetic massage that has been practiced

for millenia in brotherhoods of Hakim Dervish healers (from the NearEast). It regenerates the intervertebral discs and gently stretches thevertebral column, balancing the psyche at the same time. Both powerful and gentle, thismassage can be practiced therapeutically or simply to improve ourrelaxation and well-being.

• Articular self-adjustments Articular self-adjustments are simple and easy-to-learn techniques

that allow us to reduce the microluxations reponsible for many pains thatcan make our lives unbearable. Conceived as self-treatments, they allowus to treat ourselves or to prevent troubles caused by unavoidablerepetitive tasks (at our work place, for example), rebalance musculartensions, heal inflammations, and act on our brain by sending it messagesof “good functioning.” They allow the energy to flow harmoniously onceagain in our meridians, the energetic pathways that circulate throughoutour entire body.

• Regenerated Back Techniques

• The fundamental principles of Dervish medicine• Basic knowledge about the vertebral column, the autonomous nervous system, and the

lymphatic system• Hakim back massage• Articular mobilizations: articular and vertebral self-adjustments• The postures: Therapeutic Arkanas• The “movements that heal” of Dervish Yoga• Introduction to Euphonic Calming Techniques (relaxation, revitalization)• Bipolar articular points techniques. With this technique, we have an action on the Wei-Qi, the

protective surface energy which is connected to a large extent with the first electromagneticfield around our body. A euphonization of this surface energetic field improves theconnections and communication between all the fragments of the body.

There are very many therapeutic Arkanas (Dervish Asanas) – several for each joint. They arebased on the combination of a simple posture, a specific respiration, and the concentration onour bodily sensations. They allow the energy to flow more freely throughout our entire body, and specifically in our joints, in the places where it is blocked. They revitalize and redynamizeour energetic circulation, making these Arkanas truly precious techniques for all the painfulaftereffects of sprains and dislocations, as well as for the reduction or even disappearance ofall the pains we no longer know what to do about.
