Cathays businesses giving each other
money off deals?
Although the ‘business group’ of Cathays
Compass did toy with the idea in 2016 of
having a ‘Cathays loyalty community card’ –
some businesses have tried a few things of
their own:
Svago’s offered local businesses money off for
their lunches. Would you be prepared to give
concessions to our 1,200+ families and 300+
local buinesses/faith groups/voluntary bodies
in Cathays?
What deals/offers can be mustered between
the community to increase local customer
footfall/link building and stronger consistent
customer retention for the businesses.
What do you think? Would you be willing to
collaborate a few hours a month to the
‘business sub group or community sub group
of Cathays Compass’ to flesh out the ideas of
supporting a better connected local
econonomy.
What can we all do together?

Cathays Fair 2018 – reserving your own stall! https://www.facebook.com/events/1622287984522060/
There is still time to book (some of last year’s stalls are still getting
in touch) – so if you request a ‘stall reservation form’ from one of
our primary headteachers (all requirements are included in the
stall reservation sheets information) – then please contact
[email protected] for the sheets.
Tidy Text – it’s still running !! Tiny url: https://goo.gl/EodMr4
After the snow caused many city districts/towns/villages – it is good to know that Tidy Text is still running. When one of the residents went up the whole of Rhymney Street – they spoke to 8-% of the houses (telling people not to put recycling out due to constraints snow put on our local services) which they were surprised to learn only 10% of families had signed up to Tidy Text – so they had not received the “don’t’ put bins out!” out.
For residents without access to smart phones or internet access, our Tidy Text service is available. You’ll receive a text message the day before your collection to remind you what bins/bags/sacks you need to put out for collection by 6am the following day.
To sign up, text ‘TIDY’ + your house number and postcode to
60163. For example: TIDY 307 CF24 4NH
Cardiff and the homeless:
Massive congrats to Nicki Feneck and Gareth Edwards for setting this event up and making every effort to bring all the groups (who help the homeless) come together – of which hopefully stronger collaboration will begin now to help the increasing homeless issue. Cathays Compass were represented at the homeless awareness/support conference on 21st March at City Hall. called ‘Let’s do something different’ collaboration campaign. Positive examples were offered by approximately 100 groups of what they do to support the many homeless in Cardiff; outreach, empower, retrain, reintegrate and bring back into communities. Several of the groups were invited to set up stalls at Cathays Fair 2018 to help support their own awareness raising amongst the community in case any of you wish to partake with these groups.

Cathays PACT (deferred due to Bank Hols) Monday 9th April:
7pm at Cathays Methodist Church (Crwys Road)
Due to the Easter Bank Holiday Monday looming – this will have an effect on many regular meetings. In the case of
the PACT – PCSO Lloyd remind us all that this PACT meeting will be on Monday 9th April.
This is your opportunity to voice concerns about possible issues in the neighbourhood:
• Parking issues
• Planning issues
• Drug issues
• Antisocial activity
Please come and discuss any issues you have in your street or other parts of Cathays.
Access into the building:
To get into the PACT (Police and Community Together) please go to the right side of Cathays Methodist Church –
where you will find the blue side doors. One of them should be open for you all to get into the PACT.
Thank you PCSO David Lloyd for many years of service to Cathays!!
Just so you are aware, PCSO Lloyd has transferred to Gabalfa Ward now and is succeeded by PCSO Ceri Francis and
PCSO Chris Blatchford who will be his successors for the Cathays district.
Mr Lloyd always worked hard to build a positive association with many of you and had great tenacity chasing up every
bit of intel he received from hundreds of our neighbours over the many years that he has served Cathays. Chasing up
every angle – he was responsible for helping get rid of a lot of our problems in your neighbourhood.
He will be missed. Many families will miss his presence & efforts!
