St. Simon the Apostle The Most Holy Trinity June 7, 2020 READING 1 Ex 34:4b–6, 8–9 Early in the morning Moses went up Mount Sinai as the LORD had commanded him, taking along the two stone tablets.

Having come down in a cloud, the LORD stood with Moses there and proclaimed his name, “LORD.” Thus the LORD passed before him and cried out, “The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity.” Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. Then he said, “If I find favor with you, O LORD, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own.”

READING 2 2 Cor 13:11–13 Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.

GOSPEL Jn 3:16–18 God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

PROFESSION OF FAITH We believe in God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

PREPARATION OF THE GIFTS 5PM, 7AM, 9AM HOW GREAT THO ART 1. O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow'r thruout the universe displayed! Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, How great Thou art! 2. When thru the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze. Then sings my soul... 3. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in

St Simon the Apostle The Most Holy Trinity June 7, 2020 That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin! Then sings my soul... 4. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art! COMMUNION 5PM, 7AM, 9AM: EYE HAS NOT SEEN Eye has not seen, ear has not heard what God has ready for those who love him; Spirit of love, come, give us the mind of Jesus, teach us the wisdom of God.

1. When pain and sorrow weigh us down, be near to us, O Lord, forgive the weakness of our faith, and bear us up within your peaceful word.

Eye has not seen...

2. Our lives are but a single breath, we flower and we fade, yet all our days are in your hands, so we return in love what love has made.

Eye has not seen...

3. To those who see with eyes of faith, the Lord is ever near, reflected in the faces of all the poor and lowly of the world.

Eye has not seen...

4. We sing a myst'ry from the past in halls where saints have trod, yet ever new the music rings to Jesus, Living Song of God.

Eye has not seen... Text: 1 Corinthians 2:9-10; Marty Haugen, b.1950, © 1982, GIA Publications, Inc.

COMMUNION: BREAD OF LIFE RORY COONEY Refrain I myself am the bread of life. You and I are the bread of life, taken and blessed, broken and shared by Christ that the world might live.

1. This bread is spirit, gift of the Maker’s love, and we who share it know that we can be one: a living sign of God in Christ.

2. Here is God’s kingdom given to us as food. This is our body, this is our blood: a living sign of God in Christ.

3. Lives broken open, stories shared aloud, become a banquet, a shelter for the world: a living sign of God in Christ.

1. We, the daughters and sons of him who built the valleys and plains, praise the wonders our God has done in ev’ry heart that sings.

2. In his wisdom he strengthens us, like gold that’s tested in fire. Though the power of sin prevails, our God is there to save.

3. Ev’ry moment of ev’ry day our God is waiting to save, always ready to seek the lost, to answer those who pray.

4. God has watered our barren land and spent his merciful rain. Now the rivers of life run full for anyone to drink. Text: Based on Psalms 65, 66. Text and music © 1976, OCP. All rights reserved.

Dear Parishioners of St. Simon,

This is our third weekend since the return of public Masses. I think things are going pretty well with the procedures we have put into place; a huge “thank you” goes out to our ushers and volunteers who have helped direct people as well as helped with the sanitizing of our church after each Mass. For those of you who have chosen to attend Mass – thank you for your patience and understanding as we have put into place the new directives we must follow, as we try to minimize the risk of infection for everyone. We must stay vigilant! My home parish, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish in St. Charles, had to shut down public Masses this past week when one of their priests tested positive for COVID-19. PLEASE REMEMBER – IT IS NOT A SIN TO STAY HOME FROM MASS DURING THIS TIME OF PANDEMIC. Archbishop Carlson has extended the dispensation from attending Sunday Mass indefinitely. We will continue to live-stream all of our Masses here at St. Simon parish, and we will continue to offer Communion from 12:30pm till 1:30pm on Sundays after our 11am Mass. Some of you may be looking for a resource to replace the missalettes, which had to be removed from our pews due to the pandemic. I highly recommend Give Us This Day, a monthly subscription that is available as a booklet or online. It provides the daily Scripture readings and prayers for Mass, as well as daily morning/evening prayers, a reflection on the saint of the day, and a reflection on the Scripture readings of the daily Mass. This subscription is offered for FREE at giveusthisday.org/Digital during the pandemic! You could download the app for Give Us This Day on your cell phone, and follow along with the Scriptures during Mass.

This past Monday, our Simon Says Early Childhood Development Center reopened as well; thanks to Michele Snyder and her staff for their hard work to put into place additional safety procedures to protect our little ones and to offer our families a safe place for their children as they return to work.

Finally, I want to again express my deep gratitude and appreciation to all of you who have helped our parish raise over $80,000 for our water main repair! We were able to sign a contract to replace the entire water main pipeline on our campus, removing the original cast-iron pipe that was over 60 years old. The work will begin (hopefully!) this week; please be aware of the construction that will be taking place on our parking lot, as well as the possibility that our campus may have to temporarily close while the water is shut off. Have a healthy and holy week! Please continue to stay safe!

St. Simon the Apostle pray for us!

Sincerely, Fr. Brad

June 7: Most Holy Trinity As we celebrate the mystery of the Trinity we also realize the mystery of how much God loves and cares for us each day. Believing in this our lives can then overflow in thanksgiving and praise. Your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box will help the poor to believe in the mystery of God’s love for them.

Pro-Life News:

Life and Dignity of the Human Person The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. This belief is the foundation of all the principles of our social teaching. In our society, human life is under direct attack from abortion and euthanasia. The value of human life is being threatened by cloning, embryonic stem cell research, and the use of the death penalty. The intentional targeting of civilians in war or terrorist attacks is always wrong. Catholic teaching also calls on us to work to avoid war. Nations must protect the right to life by finding increasingly effective ways to prevent conflicts and resolve them by peaceful means. We believe that every person is precious, that people are more important than things, and that the measure of every institution is whether it threatens or enhances the life and dignity of the human person.

St Simon the Apostle The Most Holy Trinity June 7, 2020

On behalf of Jim, myself, and our three sons, we (the Hoffmann family) would like to say Thank you to everyone at St. Simon’s who offered support for our family during the last two months. The support came in the form of prayers, masses, cards, gift cards, food, parades and so much more. Our family was overwhelmed by the support we received. We were able to witness the power of prayer. Through your prayers, the staff at Mercy South, and a plasma donor, Jim was able to recover from Covid-19. Thank you again to everyone for the support. We are blessed to be part of such a wonderful community. #StSimonStrong

If you did not receive one, please contact our ACA parish coordinator, Tammy Hampton at the number below. The pledge cards can be mailed back in the provided envelope, brought to Mass or dropped off at the parish office. You may also pledge online at aca.archstl.org. If giving online please enter St. Simon the Apostle in the comments section. Any amount will help those in need. If you have any question feel free to reach out to me. Tammy Hampton 314 479 7790.

Please Sign up to attend Mass With public Masses re-opening, we are entering a new phase in the Church's pandemic response. In our St. Louis Archdiocese, resuming the public cele-bration of Mass comes with required social distanc-ing guidelines, including registration to keep the number of attendees at a safe level and to be able to track who attended each Mass if someone later be-comes sick. We are now using SignUpGenius to register for all Masses here at St. Simon. Simply click on the link below and select the Mass(es) you plan to at-tend. You can do this one day or week at a time. If your plans change, it is simple to go back and re-move your name. If you have any problems signing up, please contact Deacon Dave or Nancy in the parish office. You can type the link below in or go to our website and click on the sign up link... https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090A4DAFAC2DAAFA7-stsimon

If you wish for a priest to visit you while in the hospital, the Parish Office needs to be notified directly by you or an immediate family member. Because of privacy laws the hospitals do not notify parishes of hospitalizations.

No Bingo or Queen of Hearts until further notice.

No Scrip Sales of any kind until further notice.

ATTENTION These precautionary measures, to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 are now in place:

Those who are symptomatic or who have been exposed to another with the virus within 14 days are not permitted to enter church. All are asked to check their temperature at home before coming to church, and to remain at home if you have any symptoms or feel sick.

Those who are at risk because of an underlying health issue or who are over the age of 60 are strongly encouraged to avoid the risk of attending public celebrations of the Mass.

The faithful are obliged to wear a mask entering the church lobby and during the celebration of Mass.

Families are to maintain six-foot distancing between their family and others families or individuals throughout Mass; one pew is to be left vacant in between congregants.

Distribution of Holy Communion from the chalice is prohibited to the assembly; communicants are to receive the Body of Christ in the hand.

Please note: all four Missouri Bishops have dispensed the faithful from the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday until further notice. The COVID-19 pandemic presents a serious threat to our physical health! If you have any questions about Mass attendance, please feel free to contact Fr. Brad at the parish office.

Please sign up to attend Mass by going on our website and clicking on the signupgenius link on the home page.
