Prince of Peace-Hoover

Stewardship: Parishioner’s Answering God’s Call in Formation At the Easter Vigil, we welcomed 40+ individuals into the Prince of Peace community. Their faith formation journey began

many months ago with the loving support of friends, family and the Prince of Peace RCIA team. Several

parishioners willingly accepted the role of RCIA Sponsor, attending weekly sessions and providing encouragement and

example during the journey. This act of stewardship has a lasting effect in someone’s life!

Please submit your stewardship story examples to [email protected].

They may be edited for space consideration.

• • • Third Sunday of Easter • • • April 9 & 10, 2016

How soon will the plan of God for his Kingdom be realized? How soon will the plan of God for His Kingdom be realized? It depends much on how earnest we are to

be on God’s side and cooperate with his plan. A friend of Abraham Lincoln one day tried to console the

President in his many problems by saying: “I hope that the Lord is on our side.” Lincoln replied kindly

but firmly that this was not his hope. Everyone was amazed! Then he went on to say: “I am not at all

concerned about that, for we know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant

anxiety and prayer that I and this na!on should be on the Lord’s side.” If we are on the Lord’s side and

for his Kingdom, we will use the countless gi%s he has given to each of us to advance his Kingdom.

Ministry to the Sick: Volunteers Needed

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states the priority with which Jesus held the care of the sick and dying as a component of his ministry and life: Christ’s compassion toward the sick and his many healings of every kind of infirmity are a resplendent sign that ‘God has visited his people’ (Luke 7:16). If you feel a calling to be a Minister to the sick, now is the !me to answer this call to ac!on. For more informa!on email, [email protected] or call Stacey Fitch 205.822.9125 x 43.

Safety Corner Spring brings flowers, and on occasion, inclement weather. Please review the Code Green policy and the loca!on of our “safe places.” There is a copy of

this on the POP website. Being prepare keeps us safe!

Please remember: NO PARKING on the curbs at the entrance of the church. We appreciate your

understanding that this are needs to be open for emergency vehicles.

Casting Lots for the Seamless Garment (John 19:23-24) Dignity of the Disabled

By reaching out to people with disabili!es, Pope Francis follows in the footsteps of Jesus, who was a special friend to the blind, the lame and the deaf. The disabled, like the poor, have always been with us. The disability rights movement of the last 50 years has been a journey of libera!on, one that began in the West but must con!nue in the developing world. For millennia individuals with disabili!es lived in the shadows. As Pope Francis reminds us, it is our responsibility to welcome them into the light. (America Magazine, Jan 20-27, 2014)
