4. A PARISH APP is now available for your phones and from this app, you can access the Bulletin, website, and many of the parish ministries for infor-mation, registration, etc. Greg Byrd is photographed helping Tammy Jackson set the app up. We thank him for sharing his time and talents with us.

5. A PARISH NEWSLETTER in which we will have more photographs and articles will be published four times a year. This newsletter will not be primarily an information source for what is happening this week or next, but mainly a more in-depth description of many of the activities and ministries of the parish. It should be a good compliment to the Bulletin. The Bulletin says when and where and gives a brief announcement or description, and the newsletter will give a more detailed description of what is happening or coming up and refer you to the Bulletin for more details or dates.

You have been and will be hearing more of all this in the coming weeks. As we speak of all these high-tech advancements, I would like to end this portion of my article with the picture below a friend sent me. No matter how high tech we become, it all comes down to our hearts – hearts speaking to hearts.

If all goes well, I should be returning to the parish this Wednesday. This was one of the first times I had vacation days but no real plan. I wanted to spend time on the Bayou, and here and there, visiting family and friends I don’t see that often. More to follow; Love,

This Sunday the Gospel may give us the chance to ask “what stands in the way of our pursuit of discipleship?” In our world today we see on television and read about those who are wealthy, powerful, beautiful, athletes and teams with the most wins. We can sometimes run the risk of using these ideas of success as a standard for our own vision of what makes our lives successful. Jesus’ first followers fell into similar traps, so we shouldn’t be too depressed if we sometimes see ourselves daydreaming about success. The challenge of today’s Gospel is to shape our lives by the words of Jesus, and to see success in terms of faithfulness, true discipleship, and doing what is necessary to communicate what we have received. Jesus was focused on the Father’s will. An important aspect of discipleship is communication. We receive from the Lord, then we communicate what we have received. I thought this would be a good Sunday to share some communication helps on the parish’s horizon. As we speak of communication there are two primary ways we, as a parish, have been communicating beyond the church walls. The fir st is our parish website, www.icc-msh.org, which has all the latest information, photographs, and means of communication between the parish ministries, formation programs, parish office and others. There is so much available on the parish website and we are grateful to those who put it into place several years ago and have continued to improve on it, keeping it up-to-date and easy to follow. Many of you have already joined us on Facebook. Another form of communication you are all familiar with is the parish Bulletin. For years the bulletin was printed by J.S. Paluch Publications and a few months ago we signed contracts with Liturgical Publications to take over the printing of the bulletins. We have been using a new format and receiving other benefits from them which many of you have commented on. This weekend we are sharing with you the five other ways we will be able to communicate because of benefits from signing with Liturgical Publications: 1. WE SHARE is an on-line giving program which is explained in the enclosed flyer. It enables you to keep up with your stewardship and other donations from home, anywhere or anytime.

2. QR CODES to assist you in navigating through our website pages, giving you quick access to specific sites.

3. CREDIT/DEBIT CARD processing on site. This is primarily for the benefit of the Fall Festival, Parish School of Religion Registration, and other parish events which may involve money. The ushers on Sunday will not be processing your credit cards! ☺
