MASS INTENTIONS The custom of requesting a priest to offer the Mass for a specific intention, even when one cannot be physically present at the Mass, is a

longstanding tradition in the Church.

This is because the Church considers the Mass as the greatest possible prayer of intercession insofar as it is the perfect

offering of Christ to the Father by making present the paschal mystery of his death and

resurrection.

YOU MAY REQUEST A MASS INTENTION BY VISITING THE CATHEDRAL CENTER OFFICE.

MASS INTENTIONS ARE POSTED IN THE PARISH BULLETIN, AND ON OUR WEBSITE:

www.thecathedralofstmary.org

Archbishop Wenski

The Cathedral of Saint Mary

St. Luke, Evangelist October 18

St. Luke, the inspired author of the third Gospel and of the Acts of the Apostles, was a native of Antioch in Syria and a physician, and one of the early converts from paganism. He ac-companied St. Paul on a considerable

part of his missionary journey. He was also his com-panion while in prison at Rome on two different occa-sions. His account of these events, contained in the Acts, is firsthand history. Luke's Gospel is, above all, the Gos-pel of the Merciful Heart of Jesus.

SAINT LUKE, IN YOUR GOSPEL, YOU SHOW US THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS. HELP US TO REFLECT THE IM-

AGE OF CHRIST IN THE WAY WE LIVE OUR LIVES. SAINT LUKE, PRAY FOR US!

OUR LADY OF MERCY CATHOLIC CEMETERY

The seventh Corporal Work of Mercy teaches us to bury the deceased with dignity. The Church has consecrated our Catholic Cemeteries to ensure that we have the ap-propriate place to fulfill this teaching. WE HAVE INVITED REPRESENTATIVES FROM CATHOLIC CEMETERIES FAMILY SERVICE PROGRAM TO VISIT OUR PARISH ON OCTOBER 14 & 15. The counselors will have information available to help you

make your own decisions. We encourage you to take advantage

of this opportunity to learn about advance planning in a Cath-

olic Cemetery. We invite you to visit Our Lady of Mercy Cath-

olic Cemetery online at our website

www.catholiccemeteriesmiami.org and view our new video.

For more information, and to learn about advance
