COME, YOU WHO ARE BLESSED As people under the kingship of Christ, we must also be shepherds who tend to the flock. It is upon this that we will be judged. Yet how many times do we pass a person on the street without taking notice of his or her distress? Perhaps they are homeless, hungry, in need of psychological help or emotional support, and we walk by, maybe with a nod or a brief greeting, perhaps with eyes averted, not knowing what to say or to do. We might offer a silent prayer as we move along to our destination. We may wonder why someone has not offered aid or taken the person to the nearest shelter. In our hearts we know that we could be that someone. Each of us has some particular something we must do in word, deed, or prayer, in person, or through the local and world-wide organizations that serve the poor.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with your friends and loved ones. I also want to thank all of those who attended either our dinner theater event of Harvey last week or our pancake breakfast or to those truly devoted who attended both. Thank you for your support and hopefully you had a great time. As December approaches and we celebrate the birth of our savior, let us keep His warmth and love in our hearts and actions. Thank you and God bless, Jose Garcia, Grand Knight

LADIES’ SOCIETY NEWS Our December Ladies’ Society meeting will be on December 6th at 10:00 a.m. in Gurnell Hall. This will be our Christmas Potluck Luncheon. We will have our gift exchange following lunch. If you wish to participate in the gift exchange purchase a gift, $5.00-$10.00, wrap it, and bring it to the meeting. Don’t forget our Christmas Bake sale is on December 16th-17th. Our Parishioners count on us to have all our special treats for sale. Thank you to all the Parishioners who support the Ladies Society. —Colette Polaski, President

GOLDEN AGE REGISTERED MEMBERS Our annual Christmas luncheon will be catered on Thursday, December 7th, starting at 11:00 a.m. in Gurnell Hall. We will have a gift exchange, please remember to bring a gift. Please contact Rebecca Bernardino at 530-306-9334 for more information. Merry Christmas and safe holidays!

CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE There are still tags on the Christmas Giving Tree. Items listed on the tags are suggestions only. You may share a tag with a friend or give all or part of the gifts listed. Your participation is appreciated. If you do not wish to take a tag, we still need tape, small and large gift bags, ribbon, wrapping paper, AND wrappers. If you would like to wrap, please contact the parish office. The deadline for receiving gifts/contributions is December 8th, at noon, at the parish office. Thank you for your generosity.—The Christmas Giving Tree Committee.

GIFT SHOP NEWS Please stop by the Gift Shop… our Advent books, calendars, candles and wreaths are in stock and our Christmas items have also arrived. Please remember that we try to order a variety of items for our gift shop. Unfortunately at times, we can not supply one single item due to the large quantity required by the supplier. Also, we ask that customers not leave money for an order not yet placed or take an item with the intention of paying for it later. This makes it very difficult for us to keep track of our inventory. We can always set up a lay away plan for you if needed. Thank you!

FAITHWORKS NEWS “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Jesus is calling our youth to Faithworks! Are you in high school and looking for a fun thing to do on Monday nights? Keep up to date on what we're doing by joining our closed group on Facebook, "FAITHWORKS! St. Patrick High School Youth Group, Placerville, CA", or by contacting Jeannine Delgado at 530-622-7692 or [email protected]. We meet 6:30 p.m. on Monday nights in Cantwell Hall. "Come and see" what we're up to! Hope to see you there!!!

¡Gracias!

THE ADVENT SEASON IS NEAR Beginning the Church's liturgical year, Advent (from, "ad-venire" in Latin or "to come to") is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas.

The Advent season, beginning December 3rd, is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas. The final days of Advent, from December 17 to December 24, focus particularly on our preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of our Lord (Christmas).

Advent devotions including the Advent wreath, remind us of the meaning of the season. Use an Advent calendar to help you fully enter in to the season with daily activity and prayer suggestions to prepare you spiritually for the birth of Jesus Christ. —http://www.usccb.org
