6th/ 7th June 2020 – The Most Holy Trinity - Year A

Beginning of time – wisdom

Wisdom, truth and love seem to be the themes of readings today, and that love will lead to hope. It’s a confusing sort of feast, as we cannot understand the truth of the Trinity, but we can ‘hit’ it from different angles. The wisdom of God has been born before the beginning of time. Somehow wisdom is essential to God – and is presented very often as female. In celebrating the Trinity we

celebrate and ask for wisdom, which comes from the heart of God. So this wisdom is the sort of wisdom that comes from love. Love is ‘poured’ into our hearts by the Spirit. Connected with love are qualities we would want to live by – courage and hope. These are the gifts of the Spirit as wisdom may be the gift of the Father. Jesus is presented by the gospel as the source of truth. His also is the truth of love, as his truth is best seen on the cross, in his self-sacrificing love. The most famous icon of the Trinity by Rugenev, well-known to us now, has the Trinity at a table and an empty space at the table for us all. In one sense they are not completed without us! We are part of their love, and their life of wisdom, truth and love, which they wish to share with us.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,

world without end. Amen.

MASS REGISTRATION Many who have been following the news will be aware of the slow increase of the numbers of parishioners permitted at Mass. We are allowed to increase our numbers to 20 attendees per Mass (which includes our priest and those assisting with the mass). At the time of printing last week’s bulletin, these arrangements were originally intended to commence later in the month. However, as of last Monday, these new arrangements commenced this week. Please read Father Msami’s letter which is included in this Bulletin with the amended dates. As we’ve seen in the past, not everyone is connected to the Internet. And there are many who prefer to spend their time in the “real world” and are not regularly checking their emails all the time. Therefore, there may be some who may not yet be aware that it is now possible to attend a Mass, and what the process is. If you know of a parishioner, friend or neighbour who would like a phone call to see if they wish to attend a Mass, please let the Parish Office know. “Registering” for a Mass can be done in a number of ways which are detailed on the following page.

REGISTERING FOR A MASS We are longing for the return of a time where anyone and everyone can come into the Church at any time. The Church is a house of God, which is open and welcoming to everyone. Unfortunately, we are obligated to follow regulations that only permits a maximum of 20 people at any one time into the Church at this stage. This number includes our priest and those assisting in the Mass. As a result of this regulation, we are in the position where we require people to “register” in order to attend a Mass. The registration process is required by the government for “contact tracing” purposes. We deeply regret that there may be situations if someone hasn’t booked and the number of people exceeds 20, then you may not be able to enter the Church during that time. Online Form To use our online form to register for a Mass, please visit the following link: https://holyspiritbraypark.com/mass-registration Telephone Call - 3205 1493 For those who are “tech-saavy” and “connected”, it is preferable to use the online form. Otherwise please call the Parish Office to book a Mass. This is a very difficult time, and a challenging process. We are praying that things resume back to normal so that people don’t need to “register” in order to worship in God’s house. Thank you to all parishioners and friends for being so patient, understanding and supportive during this time.

Page 4: CATHOLIC COMMUNITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT PINE RIVERS€¦ · 07/06/2020  · Mon 8th 7.00am Pinku & Gopal Ghosh (for their own intention) Tue 9th 7.30pm Ariya Jayamaha (Health) Wed 10th

Dear Parishioners With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, our church will begin the road to resuming normal services. The Archdiocese has advised that from 1 June, a maximum of 20 people will be permitted to attend Mass at any one time. This includes the priest and any other support person or persons. The government guidelines will require all parishioners entering the church to register and provide contact details, maintain social distancing and adhere to strict hygiene measures. We recognise that many of you have been deeply concerned by not being able to attend Mass and would like to return as soon as possible. To ensure a fair approach to determining who can attend Mass over the coming weeks, we have developed a process, in line with the requirements from the Archdiocese, which will enable us to meet all necessary protocols to keep you safe. As a first step you will need to register your interest and nominate your preferred Mass day and time. Please note that at this stage, we ask that you only nominate for one Mass. Clearly not everyone will be able to attend Sunday Mass so please consider a weekday Mass if you are able to do so. I would also ask for your patience in this early stage. In normal circumstances we have well over 500 parishioners attending Sunday Masses. With the restriction of 20 people per Mass, you will see that it would take weeks for everyone of those parishioners to be assigned a Sunday Mass. That is why I am asking you to consider a weekday Mass where you can. That would mean that everyone could attend one Mass approximately every three weeks. It is a government requirement that we record the name, telephone number, address and time of visit for everyone attending Mass or any other gathering in the church or grounds. This information will be kept in the Parish office and will be used for contact tracing if needed. It is also a requirement that the church be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each use. In order to facilitate cleaning and disinfecting, we will be designating areas for parishioners to sit at. It is important that only those designated areas are used to assist the volunteers who will be doing the cleaning. We will also be marking out positions 1.5m apart for you to sit at. Families with young children will be exempted from sitting 1.5m apart and will be able to sit together in a pew. We ask your cooperation in adhering to these social distancing requirements. Remember these new arrangements will start in our church on 1 June which is a Monday and from then on will include the following Masses: Mondays – 7.00am Tuesdays – 7.30pm Wednesdays – 7.00am Thursdays – 9.00am Fridays – 7.00am Saturdays – 8.00am Saturdays– Vigil Mass – 6.00pm Sundays – 7.00am and 9.00am (the 9.00am Mass will continue to be livestreamed). Please note there will be no Sunday evening Mass until further notice. If you would like to register for a Mass from 1 June, please use the online registration form below or email the Parish office at [email protected] or telephone on 3205 1493 and provide the details of all the people from your household who would like to attend. These names and full contact details are required for you to be assigned a Mass.

In the week beginning 1 June, you will be contacted by the Parish office, either by email if you have one or by telephone, to let you know the date and time of the Mass you have been assigned. This day and time will be locked in for you and any members of your household who are registered. Please advise the Parish office if unable to attend on your allocated day. Remember no-one is to enter the church or parish buildings if you are sick or feeling unwell. At this time holy water fonts at the front of the church must remain empty. You will find hand sanitiser there for your use. The body of Christ will be administered to parishioners only in the hand and the blessed chalice will be received by the priest alone. Collection plates cannot be passed from person to person so baskets will be placed at the front of the church for you to drop in your gift on leaving.

When you arrive for Mass, you will simply be asked to sign in on a sheet at the front of the church (a requirement from the Archdiocese), sanitise your hands with the sanitiser provided at the front of the church, and sit in the designated area. You may also be asked to take a couple of disinfectant wipes with you to clean the area you sit at before and after use. I would like to remind you that I am still available for Confession but it must be by appointment only so please contact the office if you wish to make a Confession. All this may seem complicated but it is important for us to keep you safe and for our church to eventually get back to normal life and resume all our usual Ministries. With God’s help we will get there. Fr Msami CSSp Parish Priest

“For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.” - St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Holy Spirit Church is a beacon of community and hope in Pine Rivers. As we pray for the constant guidance by the Holy Spirit during this period of isolation and social distancing, we’re embarking on an unusual project. Through the generous help of everyone in the parish, we would be producing videos that showcases community spirit, hope and faith through the recitation of our most loved prayers. In line with this, we’re inviting all parishioners to submit their creative and faithful videos reciting the lines of the following prayers (and submission cut-off dates):

a. Pandemic Prayer, 30 June 2020 b. Lord's Prayer, 30 June 2020 c. Apostles' Creed, 31 July 2020 d. Hail Mary, 31 July 2020 e. Glory Be, 31 July 2020 f. Nicene Creed, 30 August 2020

What do you need to submit your video?

1. Get a copy of the prayers and register your participation at the Parish Office. We’ll be reciting the same words in each of the prayers.

2. Make sure you have a good microphone (or the built-in) and smartphone, tablet or digital camera that can record in MP4 format.

3. Choose a safe, secure, quiet, bright room or sunny outdoors where you can sit or stand comfortably while recording your recital of the prayer.

4. Showcase your heritage, your work, favourite activity, stunning views, have religious images/statues/artwork behind you or invite workmates, friends and family to gather around or recite the prayers with you.

5. Light a candle and pray for the Holy Spirit to come and strengthen your gifts while reflecting on the words of the prayers.

6. Sleep well and take care of you throat so you’ll have a clear and calm voice. Recite the prayers in a constant relaxed pace.

7. Review what you’ve recorded, save the MP4 files into a USB memory stick and send to the Parish Office. Name the file with your registration number.

What do you do if you have any concerns?

8. Just call the Parish Office if you need help with any of these steps or if you would like to contribute in a different way to help us succeed in this project.

9. We’d be thrilled to have you volunteer any special talents, resources and/or time!

What do we do next? 10. We’ll be selecting segments from each submission and compile them into one video for each

prayer. 11. Once finalised, we’ll proudly show the videos in church services, evangelisation activities and

online channels, such as the Parish website, Facebook and YouTube. 12. We would be delighted to award videos that would be iconic or would win our hearts!
