I hope everyone is settling in to the In Person and Remote Platforms. We are seeing progress being made in both areas. Teachers are almost where they need to be in man-aging both systems. They have done an outstanding job and encourage you to recognize them with a TAE if you have seen some great things. We have now completed 6-weeks of school. Wow, that was quick. The 6th week progress report is a UIL Eligibility Determination. Students will become ineligible at 2:35 on Friday, September 25 (next Friday) with the opportunity to regain eligibility on October 15, 2020. Please remember that students that fail a class and the course is the highest level of course for that subject area (except Algebra I) may be eligible for a UIL Waiver so that participation in an activity is not disrupted. If your child is in need of a UIL waiver, have them talk with their Coach/Director/Sponsor. The course they are requesting a waiver for must be on the list on the back of the form. A student is not allowed to waive more the 2 courses at a time and must have a minimum of a 60% in the course. All waivers must be completed and submitted to the counseling center prior to the end of the day on September 29. At the end of the 6-week period, it usually shows a true picture of what a student’s grade might look like at the end of the grading period. As you know, this is not a normal year. Remote Learner grades are probably a better reflection of how they will do for the grading period than that of In Person Learners as they have been in their learning platform for 6 weeks to that of In Person for only 2 weeks. I would recommend all parents review their child’s learning platform and make sure they are making the desired progress. In Per-son Learners parents should focus on the last 2 weeks compared to the first 4 weeks. Remember that a Remote Learner has to be self-motivated, a great time manager, have academic focus, and is a very independent learner. In Person learners typically need some additional support/reminders, assistance with academic motivation, hear the instruction, participate with peers, work through the lessons with some assistance. I hope that this information helps and how you have a great week 7!!! Progress Reports come out on September 24th.

Tardy Policy Students are expected to be in their assigned classrooms when the tardy bell rings. Each student is allowed six tardies per semester, and each of those six tardies is a warning. The purpose of the warnings is to help students deal with mishaps in the hall, bad weather, heavy traffic, etc. When a student exceeds six tardies, the stu-dent will begin receiving consequences from their Assistant Principal. Tar-dies will start over after each semes-ter. Students seen intentionally being tardy may have all tardy privileges revoked and consequences elevated. Students who drive to school may have additional consequences including suspension of parking and/or loss of parking privileges.
DROP-OFF POLICY: There will be NO deliveries of any kind at this time to students. This includes, lunch deliveries, homework, project, uniforms, instruments, etc.
