•Matchmaking opportunity to introduce Voluntourism to other organizations.

• Fridays in August• Adult USD$70, Child USD$55

• Guests briefed by an Ambassadors of the Environment on the plight of the 25-pound “blue dragons” and collect fresh food necessary for preparing them for release into the wild.

• At the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, you will feed iguanas from babies to breeding pairs and serve as a spotter in the park to map the location of roaming blues using binoculars and GPS tracking.

• The program consists of developing, implementing and monitoring national customer service (behavioural and quality) standards and training within each of our tourism sectors for our industry partners

MOT Tourism Scholarship MOT Tourism Scholarship Programme Programme

• Represents the Government’s effort to facilitate more Caymanian involvement in the tourism industry, particularly at the managerial level.

• Designed for students who demonstrate strong evidence of their desire and intent to pursue Bachelors or Masters Degrees for tourism or tourism related disciplines.

• Since its inception twelve years ago, sixty-nine students have benefited from the Program.

• Approximately 60% have completed their studies, and have secured employment within the private and public sectors.

• 2008 MOT Scholars will be studying culinary management, graphic design, marketing management, entertainment business, event management, flight training, and hospitality and tourism management.

Miss Lassie’s HouseMiss Lassie’s House• Govt has acquired a key symbol

of Caymanian culture – the home of the late Gladwyn ’Miss Lassie’ Bush.

• Classic old-time wattle-and-daub Caymanian cottage

• Miss Lassie, a prominent Caymanian visionary intuitive artist, lived there her entire life, painting on the walls, windows and doors of the building, as well as on canvas.

• Cottage will be renovated and used as a visitors’ centre

• CTA’s new home – Nurse Leila’s House; Leased from the National Trust

• Nurse Leila was one of the first qualified nurses in CI. Successfully delivered over 1000 babies.

• The house is over 100 years old, was moved to current location in 1917 after having been damaged by a hurricane.

Recent purchases:• Additional 173 acres in the Mastic Reserve• Uncle Sammy’s Pond (3.5 acre property in WB); will be

developed to include parking, boardwalks, signage and birdwatching facilities

• Additional 0.41 of an acre at the Governor Gore Bird Sanctuary. The facilities will be expanded.

• Entered a purchase agreement for 3 acres of land at the southern trailhead of Mastic Trail. Purchase will allow for permanent visitor facilities at the trail including parking, signage and eventually bathroom facilities.

• Savannah Schoolhouse - repairs carried out with a view to offering more frequent visitation.
