Week 1: Luke-Acts

This week, we begin our journey through the New Testament.

Plan on reading five days a week, Monday–Friday. Each reading takes around 20 minutes to complete.

If you haven’t done so already, be sure to download your digital campaign materials and sign up for daily email updates. The emails include links to read or listen to each day’s text online. You can also download a Reader’s Guide, an eBook version, an mp3 audio edition, and a kids’ audio version of The Books of the Bible: New Testament.

To get started, go to CovChurch.org/CBE.

Week 2: Luke-Acts, Letters of Paul

Welcome to the second week of our New Testament journey!

This week we’ll read Acts, the follow-up to Luke’s gospel. Luke and Acts are two volumes of a single work covering the life of Jesus and the movement he ignited.

We’ll end the week by reading two of Paul’s earliest letters, written to one of the churches he founded.

Remember to read for distance. Rather than getting bogged down in the details, concentrate on the big-picture story. And enjoy the journey!

Week 3: Letters of Paul

This week, we’ll read four more of Paul’s letters to churches: 1–2 Corinthians, Galatians, and Romans.

Traditionally, Paul’s letters are arranged from longest to shortest. But in The Books of the Bible, we get to read them in the order they were most likely written. As you read, you may find yourself retracing Paul’s steps from the book of Acts.

Be sure to create space for each day’s reading. Resist the temptation to multitask. Instead, try to carve out time each day so you can devote your full attention to the text.

Happy reading!

Week 5: Matthew

We’re halfway through our New Testament reading campaign! This week, we’ll read the gospel of Matthew.

If you find yourself “hitting a wall” this week, don’t worry. It’s only natural. We’ve covered a lot of ground, but we still have some distance to go.

If this happens to you, try changing your routine. Read during a different time of day, listen to the audio for a chance of pace, or take your reading outside (if it’s nice out!).

Whatever you do, keep at it. You’re only four weeks away from having read the entire New Testament!

Week 4: Letters of Paul

This week, we’ll continue with the letters of Paul. You may notice a softer side to Paul in his final letters, particularly those written to encourage two of his partners in ministry, Timothy and Titus.

As you read The Books of the Bible, pay close attention to the book introductions. They contain vital information to help you unpack the context and literary structure of each book.

Enjoy the journey!

Week 6: Hebrews, James, Mark

This week, we’ll cover Hebrews and James. Like Matthew, these books offer a uniquely Jewish perspective on our faith. We’ll also read the action-packed gospel of Mark.

As you meet with your small group, remember to treat each discussion more like a book club than a traditional study.

These gatherings are a chance to immerse ourselves in the story together. They’re not about finding all the right answers or settling every interpretive debate. Honor each person’s questions and insights—and be sure to encourage one another in your reading!

Week 7: 1–2 Peter, Jude, John

Only two weeks to go in our journey through the New Testament! This week, we’ll cover 1–2 Peter, Jude, and the last of the four gospels: John.

As we enter the home stretch, you may be thinking about how you’ll continue to engage God’s Word beyond this Community Bible Experience. Be sure to check out your Reader’s Guide for resources and ideas to help you dive deeper into Scripture on your own as you continue your personal journey.

Week 8: 1–3 John, Revelation

We’ve come to the final week of our Community Bible Experience. This week, we’ll read 1–3 John, followed by one of the most unique books in the New Testament: Revelation.

After this week’s reading, you’ll meet one last time with your group. Use this opportunity to reflect on your journey. How were you impacted by your reading? How did it shape your understanding of Scripture? Encourage others by sharing your story at facebook.com/MakeAndDeepen.

Finally, take a moment to celebrate what you’ve accomplished.
