PROBLEM STATEMENT

The Production of Ethyl Acetate

Ethyl acetate is widely used in formulating printing inks, adhesives, lacquers, and used as solvent in food processing. It can be manufactured from the reaction between ethanol and acetic acid in the liquid phase according to the reaction: CH3COOH + C2H5OH => CH3COOC2H5 + H2O

Project Task.

You are required to perform the conceptual design of the process in order to produce ethyl acetate as the final product. In doing so you need to observe the following requirements:

The project report which is worth 15% has to be submitted by 13th of November 2015. You may be required to present your project to the lecturers.
