The Summer School was organized by partner universities: St Petersburg Polytechnic University Peter the Great (SPbPU), St Petersburg State Maritime Technical University (SMTU) and non-academic partner - St Petersburg Institute of Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPIIRAS).

The summer school had been held at three main educational sites: the main one was located in SPbPU, the others were on the sites of SMTU and SPIIRAS.

The two-week program of the Summer School involved a large number of student events that had academic, scientific, fact-finding industrial and cultural character.

The training, being provided during the Summer School within the framework of the agreed training course "Computer Modeling and Simulation for Engineers", calculated for 4 ECTS, included lectures by leading professors of the InMotion project participant universities from Russia, Spain, Slovenia, Germany, Malaysia, and also by invited professors from other St Petersburg universities, as well as by specialists of enterprises and organizations, whose activities are related to Computer Modeling and Simulation.

In addition, European representatives, who are not members of the consortium of the project InMotion, - specialists of the Swedish division of Wolfram Research Company participated in the Summer School curriculum.

In addition to a variety of lectures on the subject of Computer Modeling and Simulation, practical exercises and master classes on the usage of the computer systems (Rand Model Designer, Matlab / Simulink, Modelica, ISMA, Wolfram SystemModeler) had been conducted in order to solve engineering problems of various applied fields.

Theoretical and practical lessons, as well as individual and collective work of students that has been accompanying learning process, was monitored and evaluated in the framework of interim surveys and examinations.

A special place in the framework of the curriculum of the Summer School was diverted to the Day of Mini-Projects. On this day international student teams made presentations of the research projects, that they had carried out at the preliminary stage of preparation for the Summer School, to the Scientific committee's court.

Based on results of the presentations and discussions, the Scientific committee of the Summer School identified the best projects that were recommended for publication in the refereed Russian journal "Computer Tools in Education". The scientific aspect of the Summer School was also associated with the participation of students and teachers in the international conference in the field of computer and mathematical modeling, organized by SPbPU. Within the framework of fact-finding industrial activities of the Summer School, it was planned to visit the leading enterprises and training centers of St. Petersburg, whose activity is related to Computer Modeling and Simulation. Within the School there was a day devoted to the non-academic partner - SPIIRAS, where students was given lectures on modern aspects of computer modeling, typical for manufactural enterprises of various industries. The information and cognitive program included acquaintance of european and malaysian students with the russian education system, introductory lectures on the organization of the educational process in St. Petersburg universities, on educational engineering programs of the universities organizing the Summer School, excursions on their educational, research and production facilities (scientific and educational laboratories, computing clusters, experimental centres). The cultural program of the Summer School included acquaintance with St Petersburg, its cultural and historical heritage, visiting museums. Within the framework of this program, multicultural communication of students from the countries participants of the Summer School had been organized involving tutor-students from St. Petersburg universities. In addition to the mentioned above, in the framework of the Summer School other important activities of the project had been held: - presentation of educational materials, developed by teachers from participant universities of the project, in order to support educational process in the disciplines related to Computer Modeling and Simulation; - setting up of a discussion club for students on new curricula and teaching technologies; - holding round tables on the results of the Summer School; - surveys / questioning of participants (students and teachers) on the results of the Summer School. Upon completion of the Summer School curriculum and successful passing of the exams, students had been issued certificates of the state (Russian) standard for passing the training course "Computer Simulation and Simulation for Engineers".

Partner Universities of the project have agreed to count this training in their national universities and considered the Summer School the first step in the framework of the InMotion project on the way to developing Double (Multi) diploma educational programs.
