SUCCESS STORIES:AirBnB was seeking a Photo Retoucher for their real estate photo team. In reaching out to clients and staff, Tim was selected to apply for the role. Prior to this, Tim was working as a freelance photographer and doing inside sales for a lighting organization. With no bachelor's degree, Tim was very unsure if he would even qualify. The Employment and Training specialist helped him prepare his assets and his interviewing skills. A few short days later, he got the job, paying him the most he has ever made doing photography work!

Laid off after years of working at Bang & Olufsen, Norberto decided to sign up for Construction Management classes this spring. In his first semester, he worked hard, met new classmates, and got a part time job at Terra Petra, a new environmental company. He is a vapor barrier specialist, getting paid $30/hr. He reports that his company is talking about promoting him and giving him even more work.

SUCCESS STORIES:Jen just started working with her Employment and Training Specialist to learn the ins and outs of getting photography work in 2018. She hit the ground running, conducting informational interviews and acquiring freelance projects. She applied for a role with the Oakland Raiders, documenting their corporate philanthropy events. After making it past the phone interview stage, she did a mock interview with her ETS making sure her game was on point. 2 weeks after the mock interview, she was offered the position!

Malvina had JUST finished her certificate in Visual Media Design Foundations at CCSF when she attended the VMD Workforce Wednesday and scheduled to work with the Employment and Training Specialist. Before even beginning the job search process with her ETS, Malvina began applying to positions across the Bay Area. Once she acquired an onsite interview with Pure IP, she conducted a mock interview with her ETS to help her understand how to communicate her competency, her culture fit, and her chemistry to both the hiring manager and the CEO. She was offered a full time role as a Graphic Designer with Pure IP making 60k annually!

SUCCESS STORIES:Glenn spent 28 years in prison. Glenn is now working as much as he can so that he can save up for retirement. He currently works full time as a custodian at a residential hotel. He is seeking part time work as a custodian to supplement his income. His ETS referred him to the City Rent a Car car washer job posted on CCN. He interviewed and was told that they cannot accommodate the hours he needs. A few days later, they offered him an evening job at $18/hr. He started June 1. From the Evans Mini Custodial Hiring Fair, he also has an interview at ABM on 6/4 to work as a custodian.

Kerrie came back to City College to make a career change from the paralegal field to Cybersecurity. This summer she scored a paid internship with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission in which she will learn about Network Security. But Kerrie is not just a successful student, she is also involved in several tech-related campus clubs and recruits students to go to career events and professional networking opportunities. This semester she also was a student worker in Career Services, and provided invaluable assistance with creating content for and presenting in career services workshops.

SUCCESS STORIES:Kelvin is a 3rd semester student in the CNIT Program at CCSF. He recently attended a CNIT job fair and found an internship opportunity at the San Francisco Housing Authority where he worked for the past 3 months getting hands on experience in IT specialties, including Technical Support, Hardware, Troubleshooting, Cybersecurity, and Virtualization. He also learned over 20 different types of sysadmin and helpdesk applications. To quote Kelvin: "My overall experience at SFHA was incredible. To learn so many different technologies and skills in such a short time was a blessing. I was very fortunate to be giving this opportunity to start off on my IT career. I am excited to work at SFHA and to continue my IT education at CCSF. My personal advice to my peers is: Don’t give up, continue to do what you aim for, failure is part of the road to success and opportunities will come to people who are ready."

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS:"{Melissa},I am forever in your debt. I just received word of acceptance for the NASA Summer Internship. Arc Jet at NASA Ames. Material Temp testing. I am not even capable of dreaming something so fantastic. I am the most happy man on, or off the earth. You are out of this world. You didn’t just go out of your way, or the extra mile, you went out of the known Solar System for me. I can never thank you enough for your encouragement and taking so much time to really put me in touch with my dream, now a reality. I want to excel and will always thank you first as long as I live. Please never ever hesitate to ask anything of me. May I have your permission to send every Veteran to you? - Stef

“It has been a blessing for me getting to know Steve these past 6 months. He has given me many great opportunities to pursue in the tech industry. I appreciate him spending his time with me, informing me of potential employment opportunities, and giving me not just coaching in interviews, but life lessons. Steve is not just an employment specialist to me, but a lifetime friend. I am very glad CCSF chose him to be part of the team”. –Kelvin

“I really appreciated the opportunity to work with Arya and was well impressed with the services he provided. It is a fantastic service to be able to offer students and help them find direction which I think is so important. I only wish I had someone like him to help me out when I completed my bachelors degree. Great addition to the school!!” - Craig

EMPLOYER TESTIMONIALS:“You are welcome, It was a pleasure. One of the students took the initiative to call me and I got him in touch with Mario to review the carpenters union entrance. We were able to write him a letter to get him ahead in line for the pre-apprenticeship program. I am very glad that we are able to help. Anytime you need us to speak. One of us can probably make it”.

Michael TzortzisPlant Construction, Vice President / Construction Manager

“The reliability of knowledge among the individuals we’ve brought on board from the I.T. program at CCSF is refreshing. We can confidently give them entry-level tasks to start out with, but more importantly, during their continued growth and development, the knowledge they gained at CCSF allows for the quick absorption of new skills. Considering the quality of students sent our way, we’re happy to contribute to their blossoming careers”.

Cameron WilliamsVCIO, Resource Development Manager - Professional Computer Support

“She looks like a stellar candidate indeed. I forwarded her info to Timeline’s Head of Audience and CEO. I said they should expect an application from Alma within the next couple of days. If the social media position does not work out for her, I’d certainly be interested in talking with her about producing social media videos on a freelance basis. She would also be a great candidate to do freelance work for KQED. They are always on the lookout for talented bilingual (Spanish/English) multimedia producers”.

“Will worked out great in the internship! He picked up everything very quickly and even got to take the lead on some projects meeting with the client directly.

Lucky for us he is available to hire part time for the summer as well.

Glad we could be a part of the first try at the Maker internship. We will definitely be interested in the future programs.”
