FALL EVENTS

Haunted Trail FestOne of Colleyville’s most popular events, Haunted Trail Fest features a trip along a wooded path filled with scary creatures, spooky sounds, and ghostly special effects. Costumed ghouls gather for a night of games, prizes, and fun before venturing down the haunted trail. All make for a hauntingly happy experience.

The event also features a costume contest for children 12 and under. Trail activities cater to younger children from 7:00-7:30 p.m.; the fright factor intensifies after 7:30 p.m. For more information,call 817.503.1153.

Jo-Ann’s Little Dancers These classes will develop poise and coordination while teaching the fundamentals of ballet and tap. Classes encourage group interaction skills and support your child’s self-esteem and reinforce a positive image. Children will also develop rhythm and music appreciation skills.

Beginner Golf Camp This is a specialized golf instruction clinic featuring a curriculum tailored to kids. The program includes instruction on driving, chipping, scoring, game play, and etiquette. The goal is for the player to become more confident with their golf swing and equipment. We also teach golf rules and strategy. Bring your own clubs or use the clubs provided.

Flag Football TECH This is flag football geared to elementary-aged players. It features a combination of activities found in a QB skills clinic, plus a traditional flag football program. This clinic teaches players the basics of football and more. Players will memorize plays and routes, and become familiar with football formations and basics. Time is allowed at the end of each program for a scrimmage game.

Girls on the Run This is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that creatively combines running games and discussions focusing on important topics, such as dealing with peer pressure, body image, teamwork, and bullying. Along the way the girls train to run a 5K at the end of the season.

Kidz Love Soccer Since 1979, Kidz Love Soccer has been dedicated to teaching children the world’s most popular sport within a nurturing, recreational environment. A typical session experience includes age appropriate activities: skill demonstrations, fun games, and instructional scrimmages. Tot/Pre-Soccer This session teaches the basic techniques of the game and builds self-esteem through participation and fun soccer activities. All participants receive a Kidz Love Soccer jersey.

The fun happens on the field and, in Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer, parents are part of the action, not just watching from the sidelines. No specific equipment is required for the Mommy/Daddy & Me class. All kids receive a Kidz Love Soccer jersey.

Fall Volleyball League The league is designed to introduce young ladies to the game of volleyball. This recreation league was created to provide a safe, fun environment to learn the basics of the game through practices, teaching fundamental volleyball skills, sports ethics, and league competition.

Teams participate in 1-1/2 hours of practice each week. Players will receive a team t-shirt. A team will consist of a minimum of eight players and maximum of 12 players.

Registration may be completed online or in person. To register online, the coach must contact the Recreation Department at 817.503.1180 with their team information. At that time, the coach will be given a team code to give to their team to enter upon checkout. Registration online cannot be completed without the team code.

Signing up as an individual or a free agent does not guarantee your child a spot on a team. A coach will have to volunteer for a team of free agents to be formed. If and when a coach volunteers, a staff member will contact individuals with team information. If you would like to coach, please call 817.503.1180 for details.

Registration: July 6-Aug. 28Practices begin the week of Sept. 14. Games begin on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Beginning Yoga Enjoy a supportive class environment while being introduced to the basics of yoga. The physical and mental benefits include increased flexibility, strength, stamina, awareness, concentration, balance, and grace. Most of all yoga is fun and will leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed, and peaceful.

Intermediate Yoga This class offers a flowing practice that appeals to experienced yoga students comfortable with yoga postures and sun salutations. Gentle Stretch Yoga This class, practiced to soothing music, combines Level 1 poses, breath work, and meditation. It is geared toward students who wish to move at a slower pace, as well as those that desire a more gentle practice between their more vigorous activities. Props are used for gentle relaxation and deepening the restorative benefits of the poses.

Fit 4 Mom—Body Back Body Back is a results-based workout designed for moms who want their body back, whether they just had a baby or their last child was born 20 years ago. Body Back clients experience targeted high-intensity workouts, inspiration, and motivation in every class.

Every eight-week session includes two workouts per week in a small group format, meal plan, food journals, before and after fitness assessments and measurements, online coaching and support, and a Mama Wants Her Body Back workout DVD. Camp Gladiator Boot Camp Camp Gladiator is more than a fitness boot camp, it’s an experience. It has become the fastest growing and most dynamic fitness program in the nation. This four-week adult fitness boot camp promises a motivating and challenging environment where men and women of all ages and fitness levels can push themselves.

Campers should expect a total body workout. A typical session may include interval training, sprint and agility drills, stations, plyometric, body weight strength drills, cardio mix, and much more. Eisenhower’s 125th Birthday Celebration Celebrate the 125th anniversary of President Eisenhower’s birth in Denison, Texas. The event will feature activities, displays, World War II reenactors, and free tours of the Birthplace House.

Annual Senior Health Fair Ask questions and get answers about anything from your head to your toes at the Annual Senior Health Fair. Flu and pneumonia season is right around the corner, and the health fair provides an opportunity to receive low-cost immunizations. Most immunizations are free with Medicare Part B.

Shrimp Boil & Halloween Costume Contest October is national seafood month so join us for a complimentary shrimp boil dinner followed by bingo. Yoga for Active Adults Each month, participants begin by learning basic alignment of selected poses, breath work, and meditation. As the class progresses, new poses are added, creating a flow using these poses and synchronizing them with proper breathing. Each class utilizes warm-up poses to allow deeper stretching and cool-down poses to release the muscles and allow for complete relaxation. No experience is necessary. The class is designed to provide options for all levels.
