Michael Buble-Call me Irresponsible

This CD cover isn’t very eye-catching to the audience as it is black and blue and dull. However the artist (Michael Buble) is the main attraction to selling this CD cover as he is the only thing on the cover. The name of artist and album are not shown very big to show that it is the artist on the front as the main aspect however having a MB shown behind it which could be his signature. From looking at this cover it shows the music to be easy listening possibly sad music. As this CD cover isn’t very busy this suggests that he doesn’t need to sell it as he has fans, and they would be looking for the CD not trying to attract a new audience.

Dolly Parton-I will always love you

Again this CD cover is using the artist as the main attraction to the CD. However by her holding a guitar we are able to see that the genre of this CD is more than likely country. This genre is also shown by the clothes that she has chosen to wear, as well as her hair style. The title of this cover is fairly large to show her as the main aspect with the name of the album slightly smaller underneath.

Avenged Sevenfold- Nightmare

Just from looking at this CD cover I am able to see that it is going to be of the rock genre, due to the dark colours and the setting being in a graveyard/ a child's bedroom, this links to the name of the album “nightmare” showing the girl having a nightmare. Also by the name of the album being in a dark red it links to fear and blood therefore adding to the theme of rock. On this cover they have used a skull with wings to indicate their logo of a ‘death bat’ this is the main feature. The band have not been included on the front cover showing that they are not being sold it is the music as the main attraction. The name of band and album are not that large however contrasting colours to the background so it is easy to view and stands out from the dark colours. Another aspect of this cover that stands out to be is the grave stone as it says “foREVer” on it and the rev was a band member that passed away therefore showing that this album was made in memory of him.

CD covers

Advantages Disadvantages

Considered to be easy to design, as you are given a blank canvas to design whatever you like

Considered to be hard to be imaginative as you are only given a small space to include all your ideas

Each CD cover is a square therefore no advantage over competitors as you all start with the same. Basic Shape.

Full body shots don’t always work as you cant see the artist very well that’s why mainly head shots are used if any.

There’s not much space to include many details, has to be vague and straight to the point.
