I feel there is so much more ‘power’ in the use of the tool
In some ways, this was better than an actual classroom

It was a little bit slow … difficult to follow with concentration.
I felt there was probably not enough time for the presenter to adequately answer questions.
The fact that there were multiple platforms for communication enhanced the experience.

Presenters tend to talk with too much detail. (tutor after viewing recordings)
The side discussions in the text box were sometimes more interesting than the presentation.
We had to bridge cultural gaps anddevelop a new culture for virtual meetings.

Teaching in Elluminate was quite similar to classroom teaching.
[SAC] is bringing back lecturing. This raises questions about the affordances and the activity style.
Our sessions were optional; this is risky and not good.You must plan to somehow make it valuable – or mandatory.

The tool is a condition to start thinking about new or other ways of doing things.
The tool opens up new possibilities. However, it is not possible to pre-plan properly, as the new possibilities may spring up spontaneously, or they
may work differently than expected.

Suddenly I understand the student better, because I have talked to them, heard their voice, interacted with them. I get a sense of others, which
improves the understanding of the course materials.
