Experience: Maryland Soccerplex, Boyds, MD 06/2008 - Present Manager/Special Events Assistant The Maryland Soccerplex/Discovery Sports Center is the third largest sports complex on the East Coast. It contains twenty-eight outdoor and two indoor soccer fields or eight indoor basketball courts. I am a manager with the following responsibilities: managing staff (five to ten employees), ensuring the facility is operating efficiently, conducting perimeters and crowd security as well as dealing with conflict man- agement, supporting current business to ensure proper revenue, participating in the development of the budget and pricing of services, marketing research to contribute measurably to business development, and defining and evaluating performance metrics. My administrative efforts include: negotiating event contracts; handling customer service and VIP guest rela- tions (to include travel and hotel accommodations); writing procedures and letters; planning operations; records management; performing budget planning, execution, and reporting; developing expense reports; reconciling the budget with actual expenses. As a Special Event Assistant my analytical and project management skills proactively support safe and efficient events. To ensure that senior management is informed, I provide status reports defining the crit- ical path as warranted and escalate critical issues with recommended solutions. My specific duties are categorized below: My events management tasks are as follows: complete readiness checklist with staff; execute traffic and security controls with police support; observing security checks to include validating the proper credentials (i.e. members of the press, professional athletes, and food vendors); overseeing the arrival, departure, and touring of V.I.P. guests; monitoring crowd capacity control and safety; surveying feedback from customers on our perfor- mance; as well as safeguarding merchandise which includes arming the building at closure. Maryland Soccerplex 6/2003 - 6/2004 Maintenance/Party Captain Life Enhancement Awards Fund (LEAF) July 2011 to Present Volunteer LEAF was founded in 2005, by Calvin Jackson, Sr.; Its mission is to provide families an opportunity to improve their lives and living conditions. I assist in all areas as a volunteer. My major contribution is as a project manager related to the following activities: fundraising (i.e. Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)), writing letters to contribu- tors and awardees, supporting our website, maintaining the Five Year Strategic Plan and Budget, executing and reporting on the budget, and organizing charitable and marketing events. One of the major events I participated in was the annual FEDEX Stadium Family Festival.
