11.. IInnttrroodduuccttiioonn LGE WLL Data Service enables wireless data communications through the WLL phone. By simply attaching the handset to any desk-top PC, the user can perform circuit or packet data services including various tasks such as data transmission, Internet browsing, and facsimile transmission. 2. Components A RS-232C serial cable

Please make sure that the component is present before you begin the service. If any missing or damage of components is found, contact our authorized LGE distributor immediately.

33.. IInnssttaallllaattiioonn 3.1 Connect a WLL phone to a desk-top PC

Connect the WLL phone to a available communication port of a desk-top PC with the serial cable.

UUssaaggee ooff VVaarriioouuss DDaattaa SSeerrvviicceess LGE WLL Data Service support circuit data services, such as BBS service, fax service, and internet service by using a circuit connection, and packet data service such as internet service by using a packet connection. 4.1 BBS service or ‘1 to 1 connection’ with a common communication

emulator such as hyper terminal.

4.1.1 Configuration

a. Select a communication port : If you get "OK" message after commanding "AT" in the terminal, you've done right selection.

b. Setup port configuration like below.

- Baud rate : 19200 - Data bits : 8 - Parity : None - Stop bits : 1 - Flow control : Hardware flow control

4.1.2 Usage

a. Called party(in the ‘1 to 1 connection’) : - Change mode to a receiving mode for the data service by commanding

“AT$LDR=1”. (In the case of LSP-340/3000, it is possible to set the data call receiving mode by following setting:[menu] ->2 :ADDITIONAL ->3:Rx Call Mode -> Modem for Next or Always Modem)

- If you want manual answer, command “ATA” to answer for a ring. - Otherwise, set auto answering ring count N by commanding “ATS0=N” - Just wait for dozens of seconds until a message, “CONNECT”, is displayed.

b. Calling party : - Connect to a BBS system or your partner by commanding “ATDT phone_number”. - Just wait for dozens of seconds until a message, “CONNECT”, is displayed.

c. To end a call : - Press “disconnect” icon - Return to a command mode by typing “+++”, and command “ATH” after a

message, ”OK”.

4.2 Packet Service in 1x Internet Networks

4.2.1 FWT setting for using 1x Internet Networks

4.2.1.1 Installation of LSP-340/3000

a. FWT setting for 1x Internet service [menu] + 2 : ADDITlONAL + 4: SIO Baud Rate -> select 115,200

In this case, you can’t use other Data service( circuit modem, PC fax).

b. If you want to cancel 1x Internet Service mode, change the baud rate to 19,200.

4.2.1.2 Installation of LST-250/2500

a. FWT setting for 1x Internet service Off-Hook -> dialing ‘ # # 7 # 0 * ‘ -> On-Hook In this case, you can’t use other Data service( Circuit modem, PC fax, Analog fax).

b. If you want to cancel 1x Internet Service mode, dial ‘ # # 7 # 2 * ’

4.2.2 PC application setting for using 1x Internet service

4.2.2.1 Windows98

4.2.2.1.1 Installation of modem

♣ Installation of modem is needed before using 1x Internet Service.

a. Select ‘Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Modems’.

b. Press button 'Add'.

c. Select "Don’t detect my modem; I will select it from a list", and press ‘Next’.

d. Select "[Standard Modem Types]" in manufacturers, "Standard 19200 bps Modem" in model, and press 'Next'.

e. Select a communications port connected to the WLL phone, and press 'Next'.

f. If a message, "Your modem has been set up successfully”, is displayed, press ‘Finish’.

4.2.2.1.2 Configuration a connection environment for the 1x Internet service

a. Select ‘Start -> Program -> Accessories -> Dial-Up Networking -> Make New Connection’

b. Input a name for the computer you are dialing, select the modem, “standard 19200 bps modem”, installed above, and press ‘Configure…’.

c. Select the port connected to WLL phone as a communications port, and “115200” as a maximum speed.

d. Select ‘Connection’, and setup ‘Connection preferences’ like the right figure. Then, press ‘Advanced’.

e. Input commands (for example, AT+CRM, AT$LGPKT, AT$LGQNC), that inform the WLL phone of the interface protocol that will be used. And press ‘OK’.

You need to combine commands for high speed packet data service(service option 33).

4.2.2.1.3 Dialing and getting an internet service started

a. Open the new connection made above. After filling in a user id, password and the phone number of the service provider(some of those service providers don’t care the phone number), press ‘Connect’.

c. Select ‘Dial-up to private network’ and press ‘Next’

d. Input the phone number of the service provider(some of those service providers don’t care the phone number, just use #777 as a default),

And press ‘Next’

e. Select ‘For all users’ or ‘Only for myself’(first item is recommended)

f. Type the name of you want to use for this connection and press ‘Finish’

4.3.1 FWT setting for using PC fax

♣ For originating PC Fax call, FWT does not need any extra setting.

But, PC fax termination mode is required for receiving PC Fax call.

4.3.1.1 FWT setting for LSP-340/LSP-3000

-. Setting PC FAX Termination mode

Press [MENU] -> Press “ADDITIONAL” -> Press “ Rx Call Mode”

-> Press [Next], and Find “ Fax for next” or “Always FAX”

( “Fax for next” mode is for receiving PC fax call just one time. So, after one PC

fax call, PC fax termination mode is changed to Voice termination mode.

* “Always FAX” is permanent PC fax termination mode., So, for voice receiving,

PC fax termination mode should be changed to Voice termination mode by

below procedure. )

-. Releasing PC FAX Termination mode

Press [MENU] -> Press “ADDITIONAL” -> Press “ Rx Call Mode”

-> Press [Next], and Find “ Voice”

4.3.1.2 FWT setting for LST-250/LST-2500

-. Setting PC FAX Termination mode

OFF-hook -> press “ # # 7 # 3 * ” -> ON-hook.

( This setting is for receiving PC fax call just one time. So, after one PC

fax call, PC fax termination mode is changed to Voice termination mode.)

-. Releasing PC FAX Termination mode

OFF-hook -> press “ # # 7 # 2 * ” -> ON-hook

*. Caution : If PC fax termination mode is set, the receiving voice call is impossible

Because all receiving is processed as a PC FAX call. So, PC fax

termination mode should be released before receiving voice call.

4.3.2 PC modem setting for using PC FAX programs.

4.3.2.1 Windows 98


♣ Installation of modem is needed before using PC FAX programs.

If the modem is already created for using 1x internet service,

the other modem should be installed for PC FAX programs.

a. Select ‘Start -> Settings -> Control

Panel -> Modems’.

b. Press button 'Add'.
