All about our projects this term:It’s time to visit the farm! What animals will you see? What sounds will you hear? What does it feel

like? In English, we will explore the farm through the ‘Little Red Hen’. Will you help the Little Red Hen to

grow the corn and bake the bread? We will learn the story through the Talk for Writing approach but also develop reading and writing skills through some simple instructions. Continue to focus on our

‘Farm’ topic in art using pencil control and farmyard illustrations and make a farmyard lever books in DT! In Humanities, we will be delving deep into the world of the ‘Great Fire of London’ and exploring

Story of the Term: ‘The Little Red Hen’

Read through the adapted PowerPoint and practise saying the words or phrases. You can also watch the story of The Little Red Hen on YouTube or on Twinkl.

Who and What questions: Use the scene pictures and symbol mats to express your ideas about what is happening in the pictures. Use the key questions: -Who is it?-What can you see?-Why is the hen getting the corn?-How did the hen make the bread?-Where did the hen get the oats?*See ‘Symbols and Character’ sheets on the school website*

Character masks: Whilst focusing on your ‘who’ questions, make a character mask for each focus character. Use paper plates or any crafts materials you have at home. *See ‘Farmyard Masks’ on the school website*

Verbal comprehension questions: After using the symbols, practise your signing and story language by answering the comprehension questions about the book’s illustrations. Read through the story or watch the video whilst questioning key events.
