Other Activities Planned A mentor/mentee program will be initiated this fall. New graduate counseling students will be matched and paired with current Chi members. The Chi mentors will invite their mentees to meet throughout each semester to assist the new students in their orientation to graduate school and the program. This new activity will give Chi members an opportunity to mentor and develop leadership skills. Chi plans to participate in the annual fall national OOTD community walk, which is an opportunity to raise awareness and money for survivors of suicide and suicide prevention research.
In December of 2009, Chi plans to sponsor a community wide coat drive through the One Warm Coat organization. Coats will be delivered to communities in our state in need of clothing assistance. A local nursing home will be sponsored in which Chi members will prepare small gift bags for residents. Members will deliver the gift bags and socialize with the residents. A squadron in the Iraq and Afghanistan War will be sponsored by Chi members in which supplies and gifts will be collected and shipped. Chi members will be strongly encouraged to participate in poster and content sessions for the annual state counseling and national (ACA) conference In March of 2010, the Chi chapter plans to sponsor the spring Bunnies for Children project throughout the university and local community. Faculty and Chi members will deliver the stuffed bunnies and toys to children in the inpatient unit of Hillcrest Psychiatric Hospital located in Birmingham, AL.

Planned Initiations Our chapter holds one initiation per year at the Spring Banquet to induct new members, present them with their certificates and recognize our members' achievements throughout the year. This event is held in April and takes place on the LRU campus.

Planned Business Meetings Once, each month, the members and officers of Phi Alpha hold a formal meeting. Meetings are held in a reserved class room within the counseling department at Wake Forest University. Chapter meetings are scheduled for one hour between counseling courses to ensure the highest possible attendance from members and to respect their academic case loads. On occasion, when numerous activities are being engaged in around the same time, the chapter will hold an extra meeting for officers within the month.
Planned Professional Advocacy Activities
Planned Workshops For the academic year 2009-2010, Phi Alpha will host a panel of school and clinical mental health counselors from various agencies, universities, and schools in the area. These professionals will provide vital information concerning practicum and internship as well as local career opportunities for both the first and second year students in the program. In the spring semester, Pi Alpha will host another panel of clients from various agencies and universities willing to share about their experiences in counseling. This panel will provide counseling students with insight into the counseling process from the client's point of view.

Planned Social Events " Orientation Cook Out (August 30, 2009)- intention is to introduce mentees to their mentors and provide helpful information concerning their first semester and CSI. " Thanksgiving Potluck (November 2009)- a time for both cohorts to connect as well as providing a place to celebrte the holiday for those who can't go home. Formal Initiation (March 2010)-This is a formal ceremony at which new members are induceted. Year End Celebration Picnic (May 2010)-new officers plan the event for graduating seniors as a final connection and celebration for both cohorts.
Planned Newsletter Phi Alpha elects an officer each year to produce a newsletter. Newsletters are to be distributed twice a year at the end of each semester. Fall semester is to feature upcoming activities, spotlight new students, and highlight community service projects in which the chapter is engaged. have t-shirts, fleece, and sweatshirts available to students, faculty, alumni and friends of the UWW Counselor Education program.
Planned Initiations We will have our initiation this December to welcome new members. The event will be held on campus and will include a free dinner for new members. Family members and current Chi Sigma Iota members will be invited and required to pay a small fee to cover
Planned Business Meetings We meet approxiatemately once per month with all four of our board members. Our president-elect will be joining us once elections are complete in the middle of October. The meetings are approxiatemately 60 minutes in length and are open to all Chi Sigma
Planned Professional Advocacy Activities
Planned Workshops We are hosting a Grad Panel Tell-All this fall for our recent graduates to share some information on the process of graduating and searching for jobs. We are also hosting an Internship Writing Resume for our students who will be entering into internship.
Planned Community Engagements
Planned Social Events We have planned social events once per month throughout the entire academic year and once during the summer. These consist of potlucks and pizza parties.

Other Activities Planned Fall and Spring apparel sale. Goals and Objectives Number one priority is to increase student involvement at meetings and
events. We are also planning to expand and refine the apparel sale to make it more profitable for the current year and for years to follow.
