Resolution 01-05: Improve comparability and dissemination of air emissions data, while respecting the integrity of federally managed inventory programs.

Q: What’s the goal of the data dictionary?

A: Comparability. To give a researcher the information, primarily metadata, she needs to conduct an in depth comparison of different inventories air pollution inventories.

What isn’t the data dictionary trying to do?

1. Suggest a new or better format for GHG, BC, and CAC inventories.

2. Make any substantial changes to the way inventories are produced.

3. Publish data that isn’t already in the public domain.

•Contains class definitions and UML Class Diagrams describing a common framework for air pollutant inventories

•Contains examples of the framework applied to GHG, BC, and CAC Inventory data

And in the future...

December 2013: CEC will launch the web platform: a repository of air pollutant inventory data, with query, visualization, and distribution tools.

2014 and Beyond: CEC will distribute air pollutant inventory data via the web platform.
