The American Beauty Mill has long been home to several of the Cedars’ up-and-coming artists & will be hosting one of the largest group shows the Open Studios Tour has to offer. A collection of painters, sculptors, photographers, and mixed-media artists bring their work to the outside courtyard, showing the diversity of one of the neighborhoods oldest & largest buildings. With, not to be missed live music by Daniel Hart playing at 6pm.

The Pastime Tavern1503 S. Ervay St.Dallas, TX 75215214-565-0085
The Pastime Tavern has a long and interesting history in the Cedars, beginning when it opened in 1937. George, the original owner lived in the back bar with a curtain separating his living quarters. In 1956 he sold the Pastime to Florine who started serving food. In 1984 the bar sold to Paul Tolliver and Wayne Tollett. Then
in 1987, Harry Hall, the current owner, purchased the bar and has been there 23 years. Jack Ruby had the Carousel Club right down the street and visited the Pastime. One of Harry’s friends, Bobby Joe, was riding on the right side of President Kennedy when he was shot and helped escort him to Parkland. Another one of his friends and customers, Kenneth Lyon, helped get Lee Harvey Oswald out of the Texas Theater. We have pool tables, and a covered patio with picnic tables. Stop by for a drink and a bit of local history. Visit us on facebook.
