The Cedarville University women's basketball team hosts the Bethel College Pilots in non-conference action this afternoon in the Athletic Center. The Lady Jackets are 10-2 on the season after dropping a 78-71 decision to Ohio Dominican University this past Saturday in American Mideast Conference South Division action. The game snapped a five-game winning streak for the Lady Jackets that propelled them to a ranking of #13 in the NAIA Division II ratings - the highest ranking ever for a Cedarville University women's basketball team. The Pilots are NAIA II members of the Mid-Central Conference and bring a perfect 9-0 record into the Athletic Center after registering a 93-56 win at Trinity International on Saturday. Bethel leads the alltime series by a 1-0 margin after dropping the Lady Jackets 79-63 last December 11 in Mishawaka.
The Lady Jackets enter today's contest looking to get back on the winning trail. Cedarville has been getting strong inside play from Kirsten Rossotti and Emily Delimpo. Rossotti, a 6-0 senior, leads the team with a 21.1 ppg scoring average while grabbing 9.3 rebounds per contest. The AMC Player of the Week is shooting .538 from the field (91-169) and .676 (71-105) from the free throw line. Delimpo, a 6-0 Kirsten Rossotti freshman post player, is second on the squad with 6.6 boards per game. Sophomore guard Kari Flunker, scoring 14.4 ppg, is leading the way from behind the arc with a .466 mark on 34 of 73 shooting. Julie Stauffer, a 5-6 junior guard, is the only other Lady Jacket scoring in double figures with 14.3 average.
The Lady Jackets are outscoring their opponents by a 74-65 margin after the first eight games while holding a 43-37 edge in Emily Delimpo rebounding. Cedarville has made 169 of 262 free throw attempts (.645) while opponents are shooting 121-195 from the charity stripe (.621).
Bethel College, ranked eighth in the latest NAIA Division II National Ratings, is outscoring their opponents by a 81-65 margin while rolling through their first nine opponents. Shallon Bowden, a 5-8 senior guard, leads the offensive attack for the Pilots while scoring 14 points per game and hauling in 6 boards per contest. The other Pilot scoring in double figures is Chasity Zellers, a 5-5 sophomore guard, who is adding over 12 points per contest while leading the team in assists. Bethel is hitting .430 from behind the arc and draining .720 from the charity stripe.
