Welcome to the 2015–2016 edition of Celebrate the Arts, which spotlights the outstanding performances, plays, and art exhibitions taking place in both Dayton and Cincinnati in the upcoming year. As we launch this

year’s publication, the arts scene in our region is as inspiring as it has ever been.

One of the key players in the Cincinnati arts world is local resident and celebrity Drew Lachey, who appears on this year’s cover. Formerly a member of the band 98 Degrees and a winner on Dancing With the Stars, Lachey is currently starring with his brother Nick in Lachey’s Bar, a show on A&E that follows them as they open their namesake restaurant in Over-the-Rhine. Lachey grew up in Cincinnati and attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts. He’s returned to the city he loves, operates the Lachey Arts Camp for aspiring performers, and is a proud supporter of many local arts groups.

Our region is home to many renowned performing arts organizations and cultural institutions, from museums and symphony orchestras to theater and dance companies. On these pages, we feature the stories and season calendars of a selection of them, from the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company and the Human Race Theatre Company in Dayton to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Museum Center.

We also include some fashion and style content. We tell you which jewels to pair with your dress, whether you’re headed to dinner and a show or a grand gala, and we talk with Italian jewelry designer Roberto Coin.

Describe your relationship with James Free Jewelers.

It is a beautiful and long story. We were two gentlemen who met each other during the Baselworld show; I think it happened 29 years ago. We liked each other very much and the collaboration started immediately. I noticed with great pleasure the excellent taste and the interest in innovation and more international style.

Today I can say that James Free is a very important jeweler carrying exclusive collections both from Roberto Coin and from other important brands.

When did you start your career?

I entered the world of jewelry in 1977, after leaving a successful career in hotel business. I started to create and produce for other companies and soon I was collaborating with the best international brands in jewelry. In 1996 I launched my brand and started to express and sign my personal creativity.

What does Made in Italy mean to you?

I hope Made in Italy means the same not only for me but also for everybody in the world. It means beauty, as from Italy the world can expect the most beautiful creations. It means perfection in manufacturing and quality and innovation in design.

After all these years, what still inspires your designs?

I am a very curious person, always interested in meeting new people and getting in touch with new cultures and traditions. Thanks to my numerous travels around the world I have had so many experiences. I see so many nature expressions and cultural
