What is the Carson Valley Arts Council?

CVAC supports a breadth of public arts programs, provides residents a rich quality of life which contributes to the health and diversity of Nevada’s economy and work force, increasing tourism, strengthening our community and fostering educa-tion through the arts. CVAC is the designated Local Arts Agency by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Our vision… A culturally vibrant community united and inspired by the arts.

New Ventures!

CVAC offered a new two part workshop called, “Business of the Arts” fall 2014. Local artists learned from regional experts in accounting, copy-right legal issues, marketing, galleries and sales and social media to become a successful profes-sional artist.

“Something in the Wind” was a new partner-ship with Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in May 2015. The two day event offered free family activities like, kite flying, childrens hands-on arts, and art vendors.

CVAC partnered with the Douglas County High School Mustic Program for a special FREE Community Holiday Concert in December.

Thank You!Thank you to our many sponsors, supporters, vol-unteers and Friends over the years! You make the Carson Valley Arts Council and all its programs in our community possible! Support the Carson Valley Arts Council with your time and Friendship!

CVAC Community Survey

CVAC took another step toward devleoping a per-forming arts center in Carson Valley. The first stage of a Feasibility Study was completed by the nation-ally known arts consulting group, AMS Planning and Consulting, with community interviews, focus groups, demographic analysis and a comparison with similar communities.

Carson Valley Arts Council Completes Another Successful Year!

CVAC started our year celebrating our 10th Anniversary with an August concert featuring singer, Charles Herrera. More than 150 people danced and listened to songs from American standards to the classics. Friends of CVAC toasted our 10th Anniversary with a champaign toast.

Art Incubators housed at the CVAC building include the Carson Valley Community Theater, Heartstrings, Dakota Organization, DCCA TV (Douglas Co. Community Access TV) plus space for several artists. CVAC sponsors the Record Courier’s Halloween Coloring Contest (now in it’s 11th year) and Gingerbread House contest for children.

CVAC is working on a new appraisal, architechural drawings and engineering studies to move ahead to the next stages of creating a permanent space for the arts in Carson Valley. Donors and supporters are needed to make this leap possible for a community performance and arts center. Call 775-782-8207 to find out how YOU can help!
