We are excited to celebrate 10-years as we begin our 2019-2020 Drive season! Our six-week

competition — February 10—March 23, 2020 — kicks off with a Kick-off Rally at Second Harvest

Food Bank.

Schools participate in a talent competition for bragging rights and 1,000 pounds of food towards their

food collection totals. The talent shows is always entertaining with a range of skits, songs and dance

interpretation of what and how they want to help end hunger!

Our finale, on March 23rd, will celebrate the accomplishments of our teams at our awards ceremony.

DRIVEN BY STUDENTS— As a program of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, the

Carolinas Student Hunger Drive is a 6-week, student-led competition between local high schools to

collect food for neighbors in need. The drive serves to unite and empower area high school students

in the commitment to feed the hungry and promote volunteerism.

Through campus events, contests and other community collection activities, students work together

with their peers in a friendly competition to collect more food than their opponents. Students hold

events at their schools and other area locations, including local restaurants who join the cause! Past

creative fundraising events have included the Mr. Ardrey Kell Pageant, Rice and Beans Cook-off,

Student-Faculty Basketball Tournament, Drive-Thru Food Drive at feeder schools and more!!!

All of the food donated is distributed directly back to individuals and families in need throughout

Charlotte and the surrounding communities through Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s

partner agencies.
