Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish develops, grows and sustains the Roman Catholic faith by enriching and
nourishing the Body of Christ. We strive to fulfill our baptismal call
by being the Hands of Christ in sharing our individual time, talents and treasures
to grow as sacramental people.

Celebrating 150 years of God’s goodness 1868~2018
Gospel Summary Mark 5: 21-43 Today’s Gospel reading contains two stories that feature the healing ministry of Jesus. In the first story Jairus falls at Jesus’ feet
and begs Jesus to go and lay hands on his daughter, who is at the point of death. In the second story the woman who had been long afflicted
with a hemorrhage touches Jesus’ cloak, saying, “If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured” (Mark 5:28). To the woman Jesus says,
“Daughter, your faith has saved you” (Mark 5:34). To Jairus Jesus says, “Do not be afraid; just have faith” (Mark 5:36).
Reflection for Families Parents and caregivers can understand Jairus’s desperation in seeking out Jesus. Who wouldn’t try everything possible to save his
or her child? Today’s Gospel reminds us that we need God’s help. We must stay strong in faith and continue to trust in God’s plan for us and
for our children.

A year ago we made the decision to temporarily suspend the Nativity BVM Parish H.O.P.E. Pro-gram. This program helps with offering assistance to our parishioners who are in need of trans-portation to and from doctors offices, banks, supermarkets, etc. Back then as it is now, the Archdiocesan Insurance Carrier requires a heightened scrutiny and
oversight on its guidelines in order to protect our volunteers, parishioners and the parish itself. Unfortunately, the need is still there. And we would like to restart this vital ministry again. Our Business Manag-er, Deacon Mike Kubiak is willing to be the coordinator for this program and we need volunteers who are willing to help their fellow parishioners with an occasional ride. Some of the guidelines mentioned are a valid driver’s license, insurance, a safe driving record and a review of the Defensive Driver training program, all of which we can cover one-on-one or in a group setting. If you have volunteered for the H.O.P.E. program in the past or would like to start in this new ministry at Nativity BVM, please contact Deacon Mike at [email protected] or call 610-566-0185 ex 114.
150th Anniversary Picnic Last Saturday evening, 200+ parishioners gathered in the school parking lot to continue our Parish 150th Birthday party. Face painting, balloon animals, sand art, food, fun and fellowship were enjoyed by all!

Thanks to everyone who helps feed and clothe the homeless men at St. John’s Hospice in Phil-adelphia. Casserole donations drop off during the summer months so if you’ve considered making one but never got around to it, why not do it today? Recipes and pans are located in the Church vestibule. There is also a constant need for large toiletries: deodorant, body wash, powder, soap, lotion, shampoo, razors and mouthwash. Toiletries may be dropped in the bin in
the Church vestibule. Casseroles can be dropped off in the freezers in the Priest’s Garage on Church St (behind Brick Building). Next pickup is Monday, July 2 at 8:00am.

St. Vincent de Paul Society- Nativity Conference In today’s Gospel we see how in faith, Jarius asked Jesus to heal his daughter and how Jesus then answered his prayer. In prayer we also come to know that we are loved by God, and in that trust we ask for healing for ourselves, our loved ones and all those who are suffering. Through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Nativity has been able to take that love and healing of Jesus to five of our suffering neighbors this past month. Thank you for your generosity, St. Vincent de Paul Society Members

Liturgical Ministries From the document of the American Bishops Sing to the Lord; Music in Divine Worship
In human life, signs & symbols occupy an important place. In Liturgy, we use words, gestures, signs, & symbols to pro-claim Christ’s presence and to reply with our worship and praise. These signs and symbols are creatures that can express the action of God who sanctifies us, and the action of God’s people as they offer worship to God. Among the signs & symbols used in liturgy is music–both sung and instrumental. Its purpose is to enable us to engage in the mysteries we celebrate.
The greatest mystery and the primary song of the Liturgy is the canticle of victory over sin and death: the Resurrection of Christ. For Christians this is the main reason for praising God; it is the definitive new song. It is the basic theme of the songs the Church sings. For Christians, the Resurrection of Christ is the true Exodus. This Paschal hymn does not stop when a litur-gical celebration ends. Christ, whose praises we have sung, remains with us and leads us through church doors to the whole world, with its joys and hopes, griefs and anxiety.
