inner-most circle of ministry friends. Your eager support has truly spurred on the good works of God this year:

• Successfully tackling our major capital pool and welcome center project

• Raising ministry support for nearly 1/10 of our budgeted operating needs

• Logging a record-breaking 5051 volunteer hours,1500 more hours than average years!

When I reflect upon our mission and feedback from guests, I visualize God using Laurelville as tools (like a battery charger and a good old-fashioned AM/FM radio) in the Great Creator tool belt.

• “God’s presence is palpable here.”

• “Thank you. I am (leaving) recharged and refreshed.”

• “I love Laurelville. I am able to remove the distractions to tune-in to what God has in store this season of life.”

Let’s face it, we are bombarded by bad news every time we turn a corner.

In this world full of so much static/unappreciated worldly noise, Laurelville’s mission is more relevant than ever. Here, people can get away and tune out fake news and the garbage of the world and tune into God’s truths. God’s people need regular reminders and a place to “get away from it all” to remember the truth—that regardless of today’s challenges, we are God’s special people here for a plan and a purpose.

Thanks to your support, Laurelville continues to thrive in our mission. Wise donors like you know that to provide mission outreach, operational needs and refreshing capital assets are, and will always be relevant needs. In 2020, thanks to your generosity, we are able to hold rates, keeping Laurelville affordable and accessible. Your generous support means Laurelville continues to grow in our mission reach–refreshing lives and strengthening churches.

Warmest regards,

Jeanette Lahm, Executive Director

Board LetterThis past year we completed the new swimming pool and welcome center. This project was a great example of the entire Laurelville community, Association members, donors, board, staff and volunteers coming together to successfully complete a project that is impacting the community and our guests' lives in a positive way. Special thanks to Kim Miller, Jeanette Lahm, Robby Emerson and the project committee for their leadership of this project.

When I consider Laurelville's primary purpose for the past 76 years, it is to provide a setting in God’s creation where guests experience transformation, rest and refreshment. Our goal is to welcome and serve all who come here with Christian hospitality. It is gratifying to see Laurelville’s ministry continuing to grow and thrive. Thank you to the Association members, leaders and staff.

As we look forward, the board and staff are focused on strategies to continue growing our programs and marketing our services to the Christian market in this region. We are also considering ways to grow the association and base of support for the future.

Thank you for your support of Laurelville and its mission.

Larry Miller, Chair of the Board

Thank you for your support to fulfill Hebrews 13:1-3*, providing an extension of warm, Christ-like hospitality to our brothers and sisters all year round. May God’s face shine upon you this year!*1Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some

people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

Eglise Evangelique was just one of the 215 overnight retreat groups in 2019. The groups we serve remind us each day of our mission to provide Christ-like hospitality, a space for spiritual growth, and a community where faith can flourish.

FacilitiesIn addition to our new pool, Maintenance was busy all over Laurelville. Some projects completed in 2019 include…

• New Dining Hall serving area flooring

• Fresh paint in the Large and Small Dining Hall

• New HVAC systems in Solar House common areas

• New roofs on Motel and Guest House

• A new Zero Turn Mower purchase

• New counter in Large Dining Hall

• Hiking trail markers cut, painted, and installed

• Lots of wood cut, split, and stacked

Finally, if you visited Laurelville in 2019 you may have met our newest Maintenance Team members–two goats! Manhattan and Riyu have brought us a great deal of joy and we love their special landscaping abilities.

Thank you to everyone who helped keep Laurelville functioning well in 2019. We are blessed to have so many hands contribute to God’s work at Laurelville!

Program HighlightsIn February 2019, we hosted 180 guests for the annual Christian Camp and Conference Association gathering. The first night of the program, a wind storm caused a power outage, leaving us without power for three days! Fortunately, we were in the company of our good camp friends who helped us move the entire program 27 miles away to Jumonville. What a blessing it is to be a part of this camping community.

From Camp to Association, our program attendees were thrilled with our new pool! Summer Camp and Day

Camp kids especially loved the water slides. At Fall Association, we wanted to take one last dip for the season so we threw an October pool party. Even though only a few brave souls got in the water, it was great to enjoy some fellowship around the pool that this Association helped to build.

Additionally in 2019, we were able to add another week of Road Scholar

“Biking the GAP.” We are so excited to continue growing this program and our partnership with the international Road Scholar organization.

The Big Splash !Our Pool Project is Complete!

We did it! 2019 was a busy year at Laurelville as we tuned into God’s promptings and took on the pool project. Thanks to the gracious support of many, we completed this project and opened our new pool to our guests and community this past summer! The positive response was immediate and community pool usage in 2019 surpassed 2018’s attendance just two and a half weeks after our Grand Opening. Guest groups and campers were thrilled with our beautiful new addition and we’re proud to offer it as a valuable amenity at Laurelville.

The local community’s response to our new pool has filled us with joy as we continue to carry out our mission at Laurelville to show Christ-like hospitality to all. As other local pools closed their doors, area youth and families expressed feeling extraordinarily blessed to have gained a new million-dollar asset in their backyard. God has used this new tool as a warm invitation to the community; many of whom, until now, did not know they were welcome at Laurelville.

We are reminded of Hebrews 13; 1-3, which instructs us to “Keep

on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”

A ‘regular’ grandparent guest remarked toward the end of swim season, “Thank you for building this for us and for keeping it so affordable–it’s a treasure!” Another patron said, “We can’t believe you did this for us”. The local YMCA was thankful for our partnership and brought over one hundred area youth to swim this summer. As more and more

local community members visited Laurelville for the first time, we recognized the extraordinary opportunity God had provided to share a message that we all matter to God and are not forgotten. God willing, we will continue cultivating our ministries to serve as God calls us.

Your generous support made a big splash for campers, hosted groups and local community members. Let us continue to give thanks for God’s hand over our work and service at Laurelville.

Volunteers (5,010 Hours Served)Wow–over 5,000 hours! 2019 saw a huge increase in volunteer hours as everyone rolled up their sleeves to help complete the pool project. From groups to individuals, God provided willing hands and hearts to come together and serve. Not only was this service critical to the completion of the project, it also filled our souls as we were reminded of the connection and commitment that arises from those who love Laurelville.

Along with those who worked on the pool and Welcome Center, we were blessed to have many hands helping to maintain the beauty and function of Laurelville. Lasting partnerships with groups such as Souled Out Youth Group, United Way, and Central Christian School provided the extra help we needed during this busy year. We are SO thankful for each and every person who donated his or her time and skills to serve God’s work at Laurelville.

COVID-19 UPDATEWe are missing you deeply and praying you are safe and well in this unprecedented season of 2020. Never again will we doubt or take for granted the value of our mission of gathering people for togetherness and spiritual growth. We are made for fellowship with God and one another! Our current status as of late April is as positive as can be expected. A huge praise to share...Thanks be to God, our Payroll Protection Program loan/grant came through! The forgivable portion of the loan covers 8-weeks of staff pay & benefits, utilities, and mortgage interest expenses; essentially, most of our current expenses. Staff are working safely distanced on beautification, deep cleaning and other projects around camp.

We pause and await CDC and government guidelines to safely re-open. Most groups have cancelled through May, many in June & even a few into July. Staff are poised and ready to serve guests warmly and safely when they do return. Creative solutions are being explored and implemented for distancing, food service and programming.

We continue meeting our mission in an adapted way; growing relationships with the local community. Families & individuals are savoring our 600 peace-filled, outdoor acres as a sanctuary to distance. Here they are hiking, fishing, and breathing deeply. God continues to have us meeting our mission to serve with Christ-like hospitality by offering a welcoming, safe place for personal renewal, and growing a healthy community, where faith can flourish.

We are confident that God is with us in this season. Thank you for your prayers, your words of encouragement, and your generosity. WOW- what amazing, loyal friends Laurelville has. Many of you have asked us, what do we need most now? Honestly? It’s hard to know what to ask for other than your prayers. The looming concern from my small lens is July and the uncertainly of whether groups will come or not. Please offer prayers for us to remain in God and God with us as we navigate.Right now, the future is so uncertain, let us continue lifting one another in prayer. We know this virus pandemic is impacting

many of you in really substantial ways. At a minimum, it’s changed day-to-day interactions and daily patterns. Many of you are facing job changes, isolation, health concerns, financial challenges, loved ones serving in the front lines, and plenty of other expressed concerns. Let’s pray together for one another, that God’s will be done, that we have the wisdom and the energy to continue tackling problems as they surface, and to shine God’s light through all of this. It would be our privilege to lift your specific requests in prayer by emailing them to [email protected]. Our staff have also set alarms to pray daily at 3:00 pm. If you like, join us! May we be a testament to our faith and the fact that God’s in charge.

Warmest regards,

Jeanette, Executive Director

P.S. Program Update: Association Gathering May 1-3 is cancelled & rescheduled to a Pool Celebration Weekend instead, July 3-5 (God-willing!)
