Precious Memories

While we know mom is at peace,

there is pain and sadness. But even

though she is gone, she left a strong

legacy of her love and perseverance.

The many ways she touched our

lives will remain, and I ask you to

keep those memories alive by sharing

them with me and each other. I

will end with mom's favorite phrase,

“I love you, and there is nothing

you can do about it.

-Twyla

Obituary For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under

heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time

to pluck up what is planted. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Mrs. Reva Freeman Locklear was born December 8, 1930, in Pearson

GA. She was the third child born to Mr. Judge Freeman, Sr. and

Reatha Joseph Freeman. Mrs. Locklear received her elementary and

Mrs. Locklear continued her education by pursuing a Master’s Degree

in Secondary Education at Valdosta State College (Civil War and

Mrs. Locklear continued her teaching career by relocating to DeKalb

County, GA in 1978 and later relocated to Valdosta, GA, where she

taught for two years. Mrs. Locklear then returned to DeKalb County

to teach once again. In 1996 Mrs. Locklear was selected to Who’s

Who Among America’s Teachers. After more than 40 years in

education, she retired in 2001. Upon retiring, she enjoyed spending

time with her mother and her two daughters, shopping and going out to
