Corning® Cell Culture Flasks with CellBIND® SurfaceA novel surface treatment for improved cell attachmentl Better cell attachment leads to increased cell growth and yieldsl May eliminate the need for tedious, time-consuming expensive and

low stability biological coatingsThe Corning CellBIND surface enhances cell attachment under difficult conditions, such as reduced-serum or serum-free medium, resulting in higher cell yields. This patented technology uses a microwave process for treating the culture surface. This process improves cell attachment by incorporating significantly more oxygen into the cell culture surface, rendering it more hydrophilic (wettable) and increasing surface stability. The surface also reduces premature cell detachment from confluent cultures especially in roller bottles.

The Corning CellBIND culture surface features the same high quality standards as other Corning vessels. Culture inoculating and harvesting should be performed in the same manner as current methods. Both enzymatic and nonenzymatic dissociating solutions have been successfully used to remove cells from Corning CellBIND surfaces. All products are individually printed with the Corning CellBIND logo to differentiate from standard treatment cell culture products and to avoid mix-ups.

MantaRay™ Single-Use Cell Culture FlaskPresterilized, disposable flask minimizes contaminationThe single-use MantaRay™ flask features a unique impeller for gentle stirring of suspension and microcarrier solutions. The proprietary stirrer technology is designed to minimize damage to fragile cells, such as mammalian cells. It is manufactured from flexible plastic that reduces the chance of broken shards, should it be dropped. This space-saving flask also provides the same head space as spinner flasks of a similar volume without the height. Application includes mammalian, plant and insect cell cultures; it can also culture cells on micro-carrier beads. The MantaRay also allows media and gases to be added or changed during the experiment. Sterile magnet stir bar is included.

Mini Suspension Culture SystemsPerfect for small scale operations, or quick tests of your fermentation processThese spin flasks are designed for microcarrier and suspension cultures, such as insect cells, hybridomas, and adapted cell lines.

Use the 45-mm sidearms as air vents, inoculation ports, or media inlet/outlet ports, or use sidearms to insert probes for pH, dissolved oxygen, or CO2 measurement and control. Each spin flask features a bottom dimple to prevent cell crushing and improve circulation. Flasks are made of borosilicate glass, and include a PTFE and glass impeller assembly. Sidearms have PTFE-faced silicone liners. Top (center) cap has two liners: one silicone and one PTFE (to be used together). Entire spin flask unit is autoclavable.

Corning® Disposable Spinner FlasksReady-to-use vessel system eliminates assembly timel Unique paddle and integrated magnet These vessels are made of USP XXXIII class VI polystyrene, but are comparable to conventional glass spinner flasks for growth of suspension cell lines and any attachment-dependent cultures using microcarrier beads. Molded from virgin polystyrene and gamma-irradiated, each single-use flask system ensures a clean sterile unit. The paddle size and height is adjustable for each vessel size. The integrated magnet provides smooth, even rotation at typical stirrer speeds. Heat buildup in the vessel is reduced by means of a specially designed flange that raises the vessel off the stirrer surface.

HY-RiSE® Rapid Hygiene Test KitFor assessing the cleanliness of surfaces and CIP rinse waterl This easy-to-use, instrument-free kit includes 50 individually wrapped test stripsl Ideal for dry surface testing, hand testing, and CIP rinse water testing used in

the food, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries l Use NAD as bioindicator which provides ATP sensitivity but is more cost effectiveApplication is extremely simple. For dry, smooth surfaces and hand testing, add one drop of wetting solution to the small pad on the end of the strip. For liquid testing, swipe the testing area with the wetted pad side; no need for reagent. To test the CIP rinse water, dip the padded end into the sample and then add substrate solution immediately followed by one drop of enzyme solution. After four to five minutes of reaction, any visible discoloration means that there are residues present and further cleaning is necessary.

Hygiene Monitoring SwabCheck KitsMonitor and control microbiological contamination of surface areas in the food industryl Excellent for production plants and laboratoriesl Qualitative and semi-quantitative hygiene controll Sterile packed—ready for immediate use

These kits are easy to use! The surface is wiped with a cellulose swab and any bacteria collected is transferred into a tube containing a special medium with indicator dye and then incubated. Even a single bacterium is sufficient to cause a color change meaning that SwabChecks are about 1000 times more sensitive than the conventional ATP method. This accuracy is particularly important in the food industry. With this simple method, it is possible to identify microorganisms such as Listeria monocytogenes which must not be present at any concentration in food or beverages.

Listeria SwabCheck KitDesigned to be used alongside traditional selective methods to improve the quality system and minimize the risk of Listeria contamination. This simple-to-use diagnostic test can be applied anywhere in the environment and on foodstuffs where the presence of Listeria species would be critical. The test works on an enhanced Esculin media formulation: the hydrolysis of Esculin produces in a distinctive black/brown precipitate. Each kit includes a swab and culture medium.

E. coli SwabCheck KitUsed for the detection of E. coli on surfaces. The visual indicator of fluorescence using a long-wave UV light source confirms the presence of E. coli, and any further confirmation is not required. MUG detects anaerogenic strains that may not be detected in a conventional procedure. This kit detects the existence of ß-glucuronidase, possessed by most E. coli and a few strains of Salmonella, Shigella, and Yersinia. The presence of E. coli is detected by the appearance of fluorescence throughout the tube. Each kit includes a swab and culture medium.

Yeast and Mold SwabCheck KitUsed for the enumeration of yeast and molds on surfaces in accordance with HACCP guidelines. M-Green yeast and mold is an improved modification of the liquid medium, m-yeast and mold broth, and was developed to improve efficiency of detection and enumeration of fungi in sugar-based drinks using the membrane filtration method. The result is very easy to interpret: green opaque colonies against a yellow background are indicative of the growth of yeast. Mold colonies are green and filamentous. Each kit includes swabs and culture medium, packaged with a membrane device, providing a quantitative result.

Readycult® Coliforms TestsFor the rapid visual determination of coliforms and E. coli in water samplesl EPA-approved testing protocoll Rapid, one-step method with a 24-hour incubation response time for

total coliform presence l A quick second step for confirmation of the presence of E. coliUsing the Readycult identification method, you will save both time and expense by avoiding the traditional Coliform and E. coli testing methods. Respond more quickly to potentially dangerous situations when Coliforms and E. coli are found to be present in your water samples. As an added bonus, you will never have to worry about product integrity because the resealable packs do not require refrigeration and have a shelf life of 3 years (post manufacturing date).

Application is extremely simple. Indole test 36152-18 can be directly performed in the same broth for E. Coli confirmation. Accessories

Thermo Scientific SnakeSkin® Pleated Dialysis TubesScale down your dialysis prep time for large sample volumes from 12 to 100 mLl Easy to open and ready to use, streamlining dialysis preparation—save considerable time

over dry, flat tubingl Ideal for desalting, buffer exchange and removal of small molecular weight contaminantsThe dialysis tubes are supplied in 8" sticks of regenerated cellulose tubing. The amount of tubing required can be calculated using 3.7-mL sample per cm of dry tubing. To use it, a researcher simply pulls out the required length of tubing, cuts it off and applies a closure. The sample is then added through the other end of the dry tubing and the second closure is applied.

Thermo Scientific Slide-A-Lyzer® Dialysis CassettesRequire just half the time of dialysis tubing for sample size from 100 µL to 30 mLl No more knots or clips that can lead to leaking sample lossl Color-coded translucent frame permits smooth withdrawal

of every drop of samplel High surface area/sample volume ratio will dialyze twice as

fast as dialysis via conventional tubingSlide-A-Lyzer dialysis cassette is ideal for low molecular weight contaminant removal, buffer exchange, desalting, and concentration. The cassette membrane is composed of low-binding regenerated cellulose and features a hermetically sealed sample chamber to maintain the highest possible sample retention. Sample introduction and removal are easily accomplished by penetrating the gasket with a hypodermic needle attached to a syringe. The gasket imparts resealability to the needle puncture, ensuring that no sample is lost from the cassette during dialysis.

Built-In Prefilters with Final FilterBorosilicate glass fiber prefilters combined with cellulose acetate membranes extend the life of the final filter when using viscous, proteinaceous, or particulate-laden samples. Use these filters to eliminate prefiltration step, reduce retention volume and sample loss, and achieve faster flow rates.

Nitrocellulose FiltersNitrocellulose (CN) filters exhibit the highest protein retention of all membranes—good binding matrix for macromolecules. Provide fast flow rates with aqueous solutions.

PTFE FiltersPolytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes are unaffected by most organic solvents, concentrated acids and bases, propellant, and cryogenic fluids. Can be used for gas/air filtration.

Choose from a wide assortment of membrane types to suit your application. All filters are Triton-free and have a bidirectional membrane support and luer lock inlet/outlet for a secure fit to the syringe. For 50-mm membrane filters only, the inlet/outlet connections are stepped hose barbs that taper to fit 1⁄4" to 1⁄2" ID tubing. Membrane type and pore size are printed on each filter for easy identification. All Cole-Parmer syringe filters are 100% integrity tested and manufactured in accordance with ISO 9002 standards. Sterile filters are sterilized by gamma radiation. They are certified nonpyrogenic, noncytotoxic, and are blister packed.

Cellulose Acetate FiltersCellulose acetate membranes exhibit low protein binding— ideal for filtering biological solutions.

Detector / System SelectionA Gas Chromatograph with Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD) is used for gas analysis or for simple mixtures. TCD responds well to oxygen, nitrogen, water, and other nonhydrocarbons with detection limits in the 100 ppm range. Filament protection eliminates TCD burnout. B Gas Chromatograph with Flame Ionization Detector (FID) detects hydrocarbon down to 1.0 nanogram and responds linearly over a majority of its range. Hydrocarbons ionize in the hydrogen gas flame and are attracted to a metal collector electrode. Ceramic ignitor glows permanently to prevent flameouts and re-ignites when flame is flooded with water.C Combination TCD and FID Detector is connected in series, allowing you to perform two analyses of the same sample at once.

Thermo Scientific TRACE GC columns have been tested and found to provide less than half the bleed of competitive capillary columns. Low bleeding means fewer problems with low sensitivity, contamination of the detector, lower temperature limits, and shorter life spans. These columns have been manufactured with improved bonding to be extremely robust, minimizing the risk of damage due to contaminated carrier gases. Improved column-to-column reproducibility guarantees that your column will work with the same high standard as those purchased years from now. Each column goes through rigorous testing and are delivered with a certificate of traceability to guarantee the performance.

Non-Polar Capillary ColumnsThermo Scientific TRACE TR-1 Columns provide general purpose separation on a wide variety of compounds and applications including hydrocarbons, PONA, esters, pesticides, drugs, and amines. With a maximum operating temperature of 360°C and its low phase bleed, these columns are easily baked out and reconditioned.

Thermo Scientific TRACE TR-1MS Columns provide an extremely low phase bleed and a maximum operating temperature of 380°C, making these columns an excellent choice for all GC/MS applications, including environmental analyses.

Thermo Scientific TRACE TR-5 Columns have a slightly higher polarity than the TR-1 and TR-1MS column, giving it a broad application range with extremely low bleed and a maximum operating temperature of 350°C. These columns are ideal for method development, alcohols, free fatty acids, aromatics, flavors, and low-polarity pesticides.

Thermo Scientific TRACE TR-5MS Columns provide low bleed separations and are ideal for use in GC/MS applications, with a maximum operating temperature of 370°C. These inert columns results in minimal peak tailing and works well for environmental semi-volatile and food applications. The TR-5MS column shows excellent robustness and is the ideal choice for GC/MS instruments doing a wide variety of methods.

l Operates in-line with no distillation apparatusl Purity of mobile phase is uncompromisedl Both positive and negative peaks are detectedThis mobile phase recycler helps reduce solvent consumption, reducing waste and cost within your laboratory. Designed to automatically reduce solvent consumption in isocratic HPLC applications, the mobile phase recycler automatically sends uncontaminated solvent back to the mobile phase reservoir. Simply set a signal threshold and when no peak is detected, the recycler redirects the solvent back to the reservoir. When the signal exceeds the threshold, the recycler diverts the mobile phase into the waste reservoir, only creating waste when solvent is contaminated. You can also set the unit to flush the system for up to 99 seconds after a peak is detected to make sure that no contaminants are sent back to the mobile phase reservoir.

Unit features three modes of operation: the automatic mode is determined by the detector signal; the remote mode allows control by an outside device; and the manual mode allows you to control from front-panel buttons. Memory can store up to ten parameters, eliminating the need for reprogramming each time.

Controlled particle size distribution ensures consistent results from batch to batch, while eliminating channeling and allowing more surface area for particle interaction with the sorbent. A wide range of sorbent materials is available for normal phase, reversed phase, and ion exchange extractions. These SPE products are ideal for use in biological, pharmaceutical, forensic, and environmental applications.

SPE Columns provide reliable sample preparation in a traditional format. Columns are made of chemical-resistant polypropylene and have two polyethylene frits to support the sorbent bed. Columns are great for large samples and can be processed using vacuum, positive pressure, or centrifugation.

SPE Wells and Plates provide a quick, reliable medium for processing samples. Well plates contain 96 wells that can be removed and reconfigured, allowing you to process a number of samples simultaneously. Individual wells come in packs of 100 and may be used within the plate configuration as well.
