Function
The radiation thermometer CellaTemp
PK detects the infrared radiation emit-
ted by an object and converts it into
an electric signal. The detected tem-
perature is displayed and transmittedto the analogue output for further pro-
cessing.
A unique combination of analogue
and digital linearization features
provides the CellaTemp PK with a
high-resolution signal processing unit.
Therefore, even with wide measuring
ranges, the sensor has a very high
temperature resolution while its noise
equivalent temperature difference is
extremely low. The pyrometer thus
supplies stable measurement read-ings even when the response times
are extremely short and the measured
temperatures are very low.
A microprocessor with high clock
speed allows for short response times
starting at 2ms.
The very bright display unit is equipped
with state-of-the-art technology. Even
from a great distance it is easy to read
and it is energy-efcient at the same
time.
Analogue output
The analogue output supplies a signal
linear to the temperature; 0/4 20 mA
are optionally available. The range
setting can be congured with the
control keys.
The analogue output deactivates and
a warning appears on the display
when the internal temperature reach-es 75 C.

Switching output
The presence of a hot object in the
sensors eld of vision triggers a
switching operation when a pre-de-
ned temperature threshold is ex-
ceeded. An LED indicates this switch-ing status.
Optionally, the output can operate as
a normally closed or normally open
contact.
This congurable switch on/switch off
delay allows for a suppression of short
interference pulses and for an ideal
adaptation of the switching output to
the response time of a PLC.
Optical system
The optical system of the CellaTemp
PK is equipped with lenses with an-
ti-reective coatings. This makes the
lenses very durable, easy to clean
and perfectly suitable for rough indus-
trial use.
The excellent imaging characteristics
of the precision lenses provide a high
optical resolution and a minimum sen-
sitivity to stray light. This keeps themeasurement reading stable even
when object sizes and distances
change.
Test funct ion
A functional test of the device and
the signal processing unit can be
performed at any time via an exter-
nal control signal or via the operating
menu.
The analogue output generates an
electric current of 20.5 mA and theswitching function is triggered.
Service function
The service function is used during
setup or running operation to apply
a simulated temperature value that is
displayed and transmitted via the ana-
logue output. This feature checks the
correct functioning and range setting
for the downstream signal processing
units (display, controller, PLC) quicklyand safely even without a hot object.
Diagnostic function
The diagnostic function ensures a
high operational reliability. Incorrect
supply voltages, reverse polarities of
connections, overloads at the switch-
ing output, unacceptable ambient
temperatures or out-of-range object
temperatures appear on the displayas error messages.
Laser module
During setup of the CellaTemp PKF
26/36 the laser module PS 01/P is
mounted to the end of the bre optic
cable to adjust the sensors focussing
range and to perform an alignment to
the target.
