Agendas/Planners: Please help your student remember to use the school agenda each day. The students will be given time at the beginning of each week to copy the agenda from the board. Parents can help a great deal by checking the agenda in their student’s planner each day.
Homework: The majority of social studies activities will be completed in class, but occasionally there will be homework. In addition there is a monthly Social Studies Current event due.
Students are responsible for paying attention and knowing exactly what their homework assignment is and when it is due.
If a student turns in their homework late, the student may receive only partial credit for the assignment.
• Textbooks – we have an in class set of books only. Make-up work must be completed in Academic Lab or Learning Lab
• Reading & Writing in Social Studiesour curriculum is aligned with the new national Common Core standards for literacy
Grading-Standard Grade scale Grades will be determined by completion of Assessments (Tests, Quizzes, & Projects) & Practice (Classwork and Homework). Grades will be posted in the Parent Portal regularly. Please check student grades there on a regular basis. Use the calendar view to check for assignment due dates.
Late assignments will be given ½ credit
Tardiness: It is important to maximize our classroom time; Our learning begins when the bell rings. Students are to be in their seat when the bell rings. Our new school policy requires students to serve a tardy lunch detention if their are tardy.
Misc.• Students are encouraged to bring
a water bottle, but please no soda or dark colored drinks ( i.e. red
