An individual providing designated QMHP services who has at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social, behavioral, or human services (includes psychology, social

work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation counseling, sociology, human development, gerontology, special education, educational psychology and physician assistant. Does not include criminal justice, education,

business, and social science) or is a registered nurse and:

Is clinically supervised by physician, doctoral level clinical psychologist, LMSW-ACP, or LPC; and who has demonstrated competency in the work to be performed.

Persons who are currently practicing as a QMHP, but do not meet this criteria, are permitted to continue practicing. After January 1, 1999, all QMHP’S must meet the above criteria. Effective January

1, 1997 all new hires for QMHP must meet the above criteria.
