Our Interim Pastor Join us in welcoming Brother Jim and Lanelle Daniel home to First Baptist Centerton. Brother

Jim and Lanelle have been members of our church for several years but have been serving as the interim pastor to a sister church in Oklahoma. Brother Jim has accepted the invitation to serve FBCC as our interim pastor as we seek God’s man for His church.

Brother Jim surrendered his life to the ministry of the Gospel in 1973. He is a graduate of Southwestern Seminary and has served as a church planter and pastor since 1977. He planted a church in the Chicago area through the Illinois Baptist Convention and has pastored seven churches in five different states over his forty years of ministry.

It is our privilege to welcome brother Jim and Lanelle back to our family and have the opportunity to serve and worship the Lord with them once again.

Dessert Theater InvitationThe Worship Ministry is presenting the Christmas Musical “Two From Galilee” Friday night,

December 16 and Saturday, December 17. You are invited to be involved in this presentation. First, join us in prayer as we prepare to share the Gospel with our community through this musical. Second, volunteer to serve at one or both of the presentations. Volunteers are needed to greet our guests at the door, serve pie and beverages, and to be smiling faces. DNOW Weekend: January 27–29Have you ever thought about

how one moment can define history? Or how one decision can change a life? We know that it

only takes one person to start a movement. There is power in one. And the power of one resounds through Scripture, and by studying ONE, students will travel through the Word to discover a powerful message that God has for them. There is:

• ONE God• ONE way to Him• ONE family united under His banner, and• ONE mission with which we’ve been entrusted. DNOW is coming January 27–29. The study we’re going to be working through is called

Believe Weekend for MenDoes your life show you believe? Does the way you treat your

wife and your children show you believe? Learn how to create a plan and take action within your family, focus on what is most important; put into practice scriptural truth; remain constant in the pursuit of your family; be intentional as a parent in prayer; and stand up as the backbone of your family.

That is what our men’s ministry retreat will be about this year at Sky Ranch, January 20–21. The cost is $50. Watch your email for your link to online registration.

Year-End GivingContributions for the year 2016 will be received through

December 31, 2016. To receive tax-deductible credit for a contribution in the year 2016, the gift must meet one of these three requirements—

1. Must be received in the church office the last business day of the year, which will be Thursday, December 29 by 4:30 p.m.,

2. Must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2016, or3. Must be given online at fbccenterton.org, or by using the

new FBCCenterton App on iOS or Android smart phones or tablets by December 31, 2016.

Contributions received in the worship service on Sunday, January 1, 2017 will not be given credit as a 2016 contribution.

Children’s MinistryFamily Christmas Party

We will have a Family Christmas Party on December 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. We will be making dough ornaments and Gingerbread houses! An award will be given in each grade for the best Gingerbread house! We will serve hot and cold drinks and enjoy Christmas music. What a great way to spend time with other church families! There is no cost, but please RSVP by December 9 so we can plan accordingly.

Family Ice SkatingMark your calendars for Sunday afternoon on January 15 for

a fellowship. We have reserved the Ice Rink at Lawrence Plaza, Bentonville. The cost will be $3 per skater. Families are invited.

GAK Verse for November/December“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.

They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them.” (Isaiah 9:2)

Holiday ScheduleThe Church office will be closed December 23–26 and

December 30–January 2. Wednesday Meals will resume on January 4. GAK, Mission

Friends, MAX and BWD, and Choir and Orchestra will resume on January 4.

There will be no Wednesday night activities December 21 and December 28. Plan to involve your family and friends in making Jesus better known as the One True God and King by the way you spend your Christmas.

Student WorshipJoin us this Wednesday from 6:00–7:30 p.m. in the Student

Center for biblical teaching and worship.Student Connect Groups

We gather in homes throughout the week for fellowship and Bible study. Check out the website for more information.

Spring Break Trip to Haiti 2017 High school seniors and college students interested in a Spring

Break mission project—Would you consider serving with our team and “Pure Water for the World” in Haiti? We have room for a team of eight people. The trip is planned “flexibly” for March 16–23. “Pure Water” supplies filtered, clean water for the people of Haiti. They use locally available resources to provide water that is drinkable.

Total cost of the trip is $1700. A $100 deposit is due December 15, and will reserve a spot for the firsr eight approved for the trip. For more details contact Kenny Wieda at 479.795.2591 or by email at kenny.wieda@fbccenterton.org.
