Program DescriptionThis course introduces basic nursing skills required to provide personal care for patients, residents, or clients in a healthcare setting.

Topics include communication, safety, patients’ rights, personal care, vital signs, elimination, nutrition, emergencies, rehabilitation, and mental health.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student is eligible to make application for the National Nurse Aide Assessment ProgramExaminationnecessaryfor listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.

Student AdmissionAny adult 18 years or older may be admitted to the Nurse Aide I program. Central Carolina Community College requires each student to meet the following:

1. AUSissuedHSDorGED [Official Transcript]

2. PictureIDandsocialsecurityor militaryIDcard

3. Names that appear on the picture IDandSocialSecuritycardMUST be identical in spelling.

4. Pleaseverifytheexpirationdateon theDriver’sLicenseorphotoID.

5. Criminal record check, completed through FirstPoint, prior to the first day of class

6. CPRcertificationfromAHAor ARC prior to clinical rotation (offered in classroom)

7. A TB skin test is required, current within one year.

8. Submit evidence of starting/completingHepatitisB series or sign a declination

9. Proof of Influenza Vaccination (current within 1 year)
