Spring Cleaning

The Property Committee is in the process of

organizing a cleaning of the church for the

coming Regional Assembly.

Items that have not been used within the last

2-3 years will be donated to those who can

use them or they will be found another home.

This will include many of the items stored

within our building, including decorations,

puppets, shelving, light fixtures, etc. If

there’s anything at the church you wish to

take with you please let the office know.

Board Meeting

The Board Meeting will be this coming Sunday

in the sanctuary, after Sunday School. The

meeting is open to anyone who would like to

better understand the comings and goings of

the life of the church. All board members are

encouraged to attend.

Rev. Weinman will be out of the office

April 4-10. If you need anything during that

time please feel free to call the church office.

Boyd Book Festival

Central Christian Church has been putting on

the Boyd Book Festival for the past 10 years.

This is a wonderful event and one that helps the

children continue to read through the

summer by providing books for them to own. The

event is held every year in May, before the end of

school, and last year there were 86 people who

attended, as well as 28 volunteers. We want to

thank Carol Newman for all her help and

dedication to this event, as she has been running

it for the past 10 years. But as life continues on,

we are going to need someone or a group of

people to help for this wonderful event to

continue on into the future. If you would like to

be a part of the planning and design of the Boyd

Book Festival for this year, and maybe further,

please contact the church office and let us know

of your willingness to participate.

CENTRAL SINGLES GATHERING!

April 10, 2016 @ 12pm in the Fellowship Hall we

will be watching War Room. Please feel free to

bring finger foods.

Scholarships Available

The deadline is April 15 for Scholarships that will be awarded from the Memorial Fund.

If you are a post High School student who will be entering or continuing your education

in the fall you may fill out an application. The continuing education may be at a college,

university, seminary, or technical school. Applications are available in the Church Office.

It was a beautiful morning this past Sunday…well, maybe not outside.

Outside the sky was dark, the rain was falling, the wind was blowing, and it was

cold. But inside the church was lit up with the smiles of everyone, with the

laughter of friends, with the greeting of families, and with the running feet of

children. The sanctuary was bright with light and with the smell of fresh lilies,

tulips, and hyacinths, as well as, the sounds of trumpets, French horns, and

trombones. The whole building was alive and joyous because of the great news

which this day brought. He is risen, he is risen indeed! Jesus Christ has risen

from the dead and with it came the grace and salvation of God. With it came the

new hope, new promise, and new life.

We have now become the witnesses to the resurrection of Christ because of

the stories that we have heard. We have now been given the responsibility, as

witnesses, to go out into the world and to retell the story over and over again so

that others can hear the wonderful tale. As the women left the tomb running to

tell the eleven and all the rest, so too are we called to go out and tell what it is

that we have experienced on that Easter morning.

Coming to church on the morning of Easter is wonderful because there are

so many reasons to be in fellowship with your church family. However, our work

is not done after the worship is over. As we have been ending our services lately

with the saying, “Our worship has ended, so that our service can begin.” Now is

the time for our service to begin. Now is the time for us to remember all that we

have been taught by Jesus’ words and deeds, and to bring those teachings out into

the world to all of creation. Easter morning is a happy and joyous occasion, let us

remember the feelings, the laughter, the smiles, and take them out into the world

each and every day, trying to keep the Easter promise and hope alive. Happy

Easter to all as we remember that “He is risen; He is risen indeed!”
