Dear Parents,
As Spring approaches so
do thoughts of exciting
events such as our Drama
performances, April 9, 10,
and 11, Band and String
concerts May 28, Chorus
concert June 3, Dance
club performance May 20,
the 8th grade celebra-
tions, and numerous field
trips. Be sure to read the
PTSA Blast and check
your email for upcoming
events at Central Middle
School.
April 10 is the last day of
the marking period. The
report cards will be distrib-
uted on April 21. As stu-
dents enter their fourth
and final marking period
on April 13, it is a good
time to remind them to
stay focused. Their social
life, team sports and end
of the year events become
huge distracters. It is im-
portant that both home
and school are encourag-
ing students to make good
choices.
We have just completed
our registration for the
2015-2016 school year.
Thank you to everyone
who returned their forms
on time. Our staffing has
been adjusted to our en-
rollment and we are pres-
ently building the new
master schedule.
Every effort is made
to honor all encore
choices , however
there may have to be
some adjustment to
balance students
across the encore
schedule for morning
and afternoon sec-
tions. Unfortunately
when a class is only
offered in the morning
or afternoon we can-
not always accommo-
date students 1st, 2nd
or 3rd choices. We
will notify students
and parents of any
adjustment we make.
Schedules will be
available to students
on their first day of
school August.25.
The sixth graders will
get theirs on their first
day August 24
The eighth graders
are reminded that of-
fice referrals or sus-
pensions from school
will disqualify them
from attending the
end of the year eighth
grade celebrations.
Planning is underway
for our eighth grade
celebrations. The
eighth grade teachers
will be planning
awards ceremonies
and other events after
spring break.
Eighth grade parents
should be on the look out
for more information to
come.
The counselors are work-
ing with teams and par-
ents to support students
in danger of failing this
year. Our goal is to have
no child fail any grade
while in middle school. A
failure in middle school
significantly decreases a
students chances of
graduating from high
school. Working together
we can prevent failure.
Please contact your
child’s counselor if you
have concerns about
your child.
I hope you will check our
calendar on the school
website for upcoming
events. Our students
give quality performanc-
es and I encourage you
to come out and support
the arts at Central Middle
this spring.
Sincerely,
Millie Beall
Principal
asked to present a gov-
ernment/state issued
photo ID (i.e Driver’s
License) to a staff person in
the school office. The ID will be
scanned and the following in-
formation collected: your photo,
name and date of birth. This
information will be utilized to
check you in, create an ID
badge, and compare your infor-
mation against sexual offender
databases throughout the
county.
If your name appears on the list
or you refuse to allow the use
of your ID, you will NOT be al-
lowed access to the school.
You will also be asked to check
out with the office upon leav-
ing. The information will not be
shared outside of the school
CMS is equipped with a video
camera system. It covers se-
lected interior and exterior pub-
lic portions of the building/
grounds.
It is NOT monitored constantly,
but is monitored during emer-
gency situations. During events
when the safety or security of
students may be in question,
authorized personnel from lo-
cal, state or federal police or
fire emergency units may be
given access to view images
projected on the camera sys-
tem. If you have any questions
about the system, you should
call the supervisor of School
Security at 410-222-5083.

Introduction to French 7th grade students survived the frenzy of Winter Carnival in Quebec and Mardi Gras in New Orleans! Many demon-strated excellent prior knowledge about the holiday while many others
showed exemplary learning by the amount of “throws” (beads) they earned.
Students have wrapped up café vocabulary with Michelin star men-us. We have been marking time by telling time, using the calendar, dis-covering holidays, learning the seasons and weather as we close out the
third marking period. Students have been relying on many already estab-lished English skills as they master these new French concepts and vocab-
ulary. Students who may feel they need an extra boost should be attend-ing Help Days on Tuesdays afterschool! Remember, help is also just a click away at the textbook website at https://my.hrw.com Enter your
special password and choose a unite to explore! Need extra credit? Keep your eyes and ears open for French opportunities!
French 1 8th grade
students took to heart the Mardi Gras motto
“Laissez les bons temps rouler!” (Let the
good times roll!). Thanks to Alissa Burkhart and Alexis Owens (period 3) and Emily Vining and Lucy
Galvin (period 6), we had enough King’s cake to crown the royals Queen Alexis Owens and King James DuBois (pd. 3) and Queen Hannah Brown
and King Ryan Jones (pd. 6)! The Royals ruled the Mardi Gras mania game, and the royal subjects were pushed to the limit to share their Car-
nival knowledge! Their treasure of beads marks their playful revelry! Students have finished puzzling about their personalities and pos-
sessions and are going places with unit 5 vocabulary! They have explored
their own houses and communities and have ventured out into the towns to discover some of the high speed transports of France! Stu-
dents can continue to practice on their textbook website at https://my.hrw.com . Enter your special password and choose a unite to explore. Keep an eye out for French Spring fashions!
What do Zydeco music plus
le Hoogie Boogie dance make? Cajun Mardi Gras fun for everyone! With Mrs. Yuan’s King CupCakes, Queen Lindsay Robertson and King Franky Reicherter were crowned and were the over-
seers of the Royal dance-a-thon! All members earned throws, doubloons, or boas from the “Royal Drawing” along with other Cajun party favors!
We are continuing our College Chateaucoin exchange as we draw ever closer to our French Week spring extravaganza! Our creativity is starting to heat up as Spring approaches! Watch out CMS!

ONE DROP is an initiative of Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque
du Soleil. He is a strong believer that the Arts can help change the
world. This non-governmental organization was founded in Montré-
al, Canada in 2007. The purpose is to develop access-to-water and
sanitation projects in countries around the world where water is lack-
ing and to help raise awareness among individuals and communities
on water-related issues to adopt sound habits for managing this pre-
cious resource for future generations.
Currently One Drop initiatives are running in Nicaragua, Hon-
duras, Haiti, El Salvador, India, and Burkina Faso. Since Cirque du
Soleil pays for all administrative costs, 100% of donations to One
Drop go to these projects!
For ONE DROP, harnessing the creativity of artists and com-
munities to underline the importance of water is second nature! Wa-
ter inspires artists who, in turn, inspire communities. A work of art
can stimulate the imagination, suggest innovative solutions and unite
people dealing with a particular issue.
Water unites us all. ONE DROP seeks to be an agent of change
and influence in the world.
