Rackspace Managed Hosting

Our annual meetings at Rackspace have been very well attended.

They have very generously sponsored dinner at these meetings.

Rackspace is working to encourage employees to participate in professional activities such as the IEEE.

We (Joe Redfield) tried to support their Career Day event but unfortunately it was canceled.

Other approaches to them may be a good source of additional members for the IEEE.


Issues

Variable meeting place is both a blessing and a curse. Downside - potential attendees may hesitate because they are unsure of location. Upside - we visit and see great locations and have a chance to draw from that geographical area and from the local student body.

For now we will continue this practice and even add UIW as a new site.


Issues

Meetings in early December seem to always be a problem - low attendance, difficulty getting speakers.

In the future we will avoid the December date and meet in November the week before the Thanksgiving break instead.


Computer Society T-Shirts

As extensively discussed in the past we plan to obtain a supply of IEEE Computer Society T-Shirts.

The first use of these T-Shirts will be used as thank-you gifts to the student speakers at the annual student night in April.

We recognize that students need this exposure to our professional organizations and are happy to provide this service at no charge.

WIE is an Affinity Group of the CTS with the goal of furthering the professional development of its members and providing a forum for networking.

Programs are often held jointly with other chapters. WIE Leadership team in Austin in place.


WIE Planning Meetings

members and at area restaurants Have included tours of the NI factory, the IBM

Breakdown of expenses so far:

1) 6 IEEE Pizza Talks and socials ($700)

a) Presentation by Melvin Pipes of Johnson Controls, Inc.

b) Summer research presentation by students

c) Robotics competition among Trinity students

d) Two socials

e) Christmas party

2) Purchase of robots for the competition ($100)

3) IEEE Registration fee for two students ($60)
