The CWCdifference

Since its establishment in 1948, Central Wisconsin Christian has provided Christian families with a place where faith and learning connect and where biblical truth meets the classroom, the lab, the rehearsal room, the stage, and the athletic field. We acknowledge that God reigns supreme, “for from Him, and to Him, and through Him are all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

Christ-centered life prep Christian education is not just about academics. It’s about equipping our students for life in all of its stages to fulfill our mission “to teach children to glorify God and serve in His world.” Guided by God’s Word, each and every subject and activity is viewed with a focus on faith—where Christ is Central.

Bringing love to learning

The excitement of young learners as they bounce down the hallway to their classroom is truly inspiring. That love of learning is embodied in our elementary classrooms, where outstanding teachers love their modern classrooms, love their subject matter centered on connecting faith and learning, and love their students and the partnerships shared with Christian parents.

Most of all, they love their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our close-knit staff and school family work together to unlock the amazing gifts God has placed in each of our students.

Middle school is an important transitional part of life, where kids become young people and make huge strides in discovering who they are as they become more independent. Our teachers guide and lead students through the transition from a self-contained classroom to specialized subject-based instruction. This progressive program has proven to increase the success rate of our students and heighten the awareness of our staff to specific student needs in a safe, Spirit-filled environment of care and concern.

Exploratories are key components of the middle school curriculum, where students have their eyes of faith opened through three-week mini-units in subjects from home economics to music theory, from agriculture to novel studies. Exposure to foreign language, forensics and oral interpretation, instrumental music, and computing all serve to springboard kids towards current and future academic and spiritual growth in high school and beyond.

Faith developmentThese years provide the transition point where the faith of the kids’ parents begins to become the personal faith of the child. Chapels probe students’ developing faith walks. The faith-integrated focus of each subject and the emphasis on building Christ-like friendships form a key foundation in the growing depth of the walk with Christ.

Academic explorationHands-on technology and a wide range of exploratory units help students start to find their strengths and begin to see their place in God’s Kingdom. Interactions with students from other Christian schools in forensics, athletics, and the arts broaden the scope of their view of the world and connect them with fellow Christian kids on the pathway toward spiritual maturity.

Individual attentionStaff members provide small group and one-on-one interactions with students to help them discover their identity as learners and servants of Christ. Small class size and the wisdom that comes from experience allows our staff to know the children’s individual needs and to value each one as a unique creation of God.

“In science we see everything from one-celled paramecium to the huge galaxies of stars reflect the intricacy and awesomeness of our God and His created order and hand throughout His world.”

—Renae Venhuizen, MS Science Teacher 7

Middle School

As students reach high school, staff members build on the love for learning and the faith-integration to make the final step of applying this learning to real-life situations and experiences. Our test scores consistently place CWC among the top schools in a four-county area.

The depth of instruction challenges students with high standards of academics and well-honed spiritual development and discernment. Independent study and internship opportunities make Central Wisconsin Christian “a campus without walls”, as students are tied into the community and the world in which they live.

Thought-provoking chapels and Bible studies, Advanced Placement testing, and hands-on implementation of their Christ-centered education equips our graduates to be well-prepared for service to God and His world… where Christ is Central!

“I enjoy coming everyday to a place where we are spiritually close as a student body. Our teachers are of top quality, and it’s obvious they love what they do and do their best with each and every student. They emphasize seeing the big picture of things and how our amazing God has blessed us in so many ways that we can discover and see and experience His glory.”

—Jared Regnerus (Class of ‘14)

“It’s so great to hear how open our students and teachers are about their faith, sharing the struggles and the joys in their faith journey. Everyone is so approachable and open, which gives students a chance to be themselves. I love how our teachers are understanding and put God first into everything we do, putting the faith aspect into every one of our classes.”

—Molly Hofman (Class of ‘14)

Growth at Central Wisconsin Christian is not limited to the classroom alone. Nearly 80% of our students are involved in at least one co-curricular program.

The Crusader Centre is the home to all of our fine arts performances, and seats 700 guests in front of a newly-created stage with an excellent sound and lighting system.

◗ Our fine arts program allows students numerous opportunities to give expression to their faith and their God-given artistic talents for His glory.

◗ The forensics program has won several conference championships, and students have received the highest awards at state competition.

◗ Our choral music department offers concerts for all grade levels throughout the year, and our instrumental program (5-12) starts with individualized lessons and grows into a top-notch concert band experience.

◗ Funny Comb is an improv team that provides lots of laughs, while the drama department presents a major production each year. Recent performances have included Anne of Green Gables, The Hobbit, Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. A large portion of our student body participates in these performances, from cast to crews to set design to technical support.

Interscholastic athletic programs provide opportunities to middle and high school students to use their talents and abilities to be Champions With Christ. At the middle school level our kids begin to develop their skills in volleyball, soccer, basketball, and track with an emphasis on participation and fundamentals. Our high school program includes cross country, volleyball, soccer, basketball, golf, and track & field, as well as a trap-shooting club.

As a member of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, the Crusaders compete for regional, sectional, and state championships in ten varsity sports led by coaches who model Christ-like servant-leadership that combines technical skill with spiritual development. The centerpieces of our athletic facilities are Crusader Gym, completed in 2011 with seating for nearly 800 fans, and Mulder Field, our soccer stadium which is lighted and irrigated. CWC has been selected as a venue host for numerous WIAA contests. Additional gymnasium and practice field space is also of top-notch quality.

Central Wisconsin Christian is not just a school, and it’s not just about education. CWC is about family. When you become a part of our school, you become a part of our family—the CWC family. Together we are in a partnership between the home, school, and church to lead, guide, and shape our children to become Christ-like servants, to have a world and life view that acknowledges that Christ is central to everything.

Our board, administration, and staff prayerfully go about this important work of holding hands and shaping hearts each and every day. Our Moms in Prayer group gathers each week to lift up our school before the Lord and seek His guidance and wisdom. From the first day of Kingdom Kids until the last of the graduates exits following their recessional, Central Wisconsin Christian is a place where love, faith, and learning come together to prepare the next generation for Kingdom service to God.

“CWC equipped me with a solid foundation that supported what I received at home, and then gave me the opportunity to probe deeper into my faith in a safe place surrounded by other Christians. I continue to be blessed by the preparation and impact of my CWC education yet today.“
