registered,- From ~100 countries- Approx: 37% are undergrad (degree),
9% Exchange (UG), and 54% are Graduate, Post Degree or Open Studies
- 18% of Residence students are international and 55% in married housing.

Scholarships (new for Fall 2007).- 5 Entrance awards each year
valued at $20,000/year for 4 years.
- Athletics: 3 awards a year valued at $10,000/year for 4 years.

Study Programs
To accomplish this we have a centalized office to administer Study Abroad and have expanded our grants programs program to students to over $300,000 in 2007/08.
In November 2006 President Weingarten made an announcement that by 2010, the UofC would like to have 30% of our graduating class with study abroad experience. www.ucalgary.ca/about
He also announced that we would have 1000 students go abroad in 2007.

Program Costs:
Exchange students can expect to spend ~ $7,000-$9,000 persemester (includes tuition, books, accommodation, food, travel and personal spending)
The cost varies depending on the destination, the exchange rate, each students’ personal spending habits, etc.
Can I Afford to go Abroad?

Many Exchange Partner Universities offer a selection of courses or entire programs in English:
Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Turkey the Netherlands, Mexico, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and many more!
What about Language?
*Most Exchanges in Germany, France & Latin America have language requirements

Program Costs:
Group Study Programs range in price from $2100 - $10,000 depending on the length of the program, amount of travel involved, etc.

Most courses offered through the Group Study Programs are taught in English.
What about Language?
Some programs focus on intensive language learning.

• If the U of C doesn’t have a program where a student wants to go, they can make their own arrangements.
• Pay tuition & fees at host institution, NOT at U of C

• Online resources (CISSA website, www.studyabroad.com, etc.)
Setting up your own program:

• Financial Support: Eligible students are still able to collect Student Loans and scholarships at the U of C
• International Studentships offer $400-$2000 travel grants to assist students going abroad.
• Other Scholarships are available through U of C departments, outside organizations, etc.
