WHAT’S ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2015 T he Australian College of Kuwait (ACK) success- fully held its 4th annual “Moto Bazaar”, a two- day event organized by the college’s Student Activities & Recreational Center. Sponsored by Gulf Bank and Kuwait Mobil, the bazaar displayed hundreds of classic cars, sports cars, motorcycles, trucks and SUVs, while playing host to an extensive number of small and medium business- es exhibiting their products and services. This year, “Moto Bazaar 4”witnessedthe participa- tion of some of Kuwait’s most famous car clubs such as the “Corvette Club”, the “Z Club”,”Club Honda”, “Hot Rod” and many more. In addition,there was abike show and parade organized and executed by bike groups such as the “Tigtagi Bike Club”, “Phoenix”, “Kuwait Riders” and “Pirate Mafia”. Participant clubs were also awarded later in a spe- cial ceremony for their significant contribution to the College’s 4th installation of the popular “Moto Bazaar”. Centrepoint announces winners of Mother’s Day Card Drawing Competition By Faten Omar U nder the patronage and presence of Sabeeka Saad Al-Jasser, Chairperson of Kuwait Disabled Child Support Foundation, and Al- Kharafi Activity Kids Center, the third Ideal Mother Award ceremony for mothers of mentally chal- lenged children was held on Monday at Issa Al- Yousifi hall in Bneid Al-Gar. The ceremony saw the participation of other Gulf states for the first time. The event was attended by ambassadors from Gulf states and Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah. During her opening speech, Aisha Salem, Secretary General of the Ideal Mother Award, said that Al-Kharafi Activity Kids Center is the first center of its kind in the Gulf region and the Middle East. It gives disabled children the opportunity to learn through play and fun within a safe and enjoyable environment. “Al-Kharafi Center highlights the role of ideal mothers that care about their mentally dis- abled kids, bear psychological stress and social and sometimes economic pressures in order to create a good condition for their children to alleviate their suffering, open up their lonely world and make them merge with our world according to their abili- ties, energies and desires,” she said. Salem added that the Ideal Mother Award has been expanded to honor mothers from various Gulf countries. Fawaz Khaled Al-Qaban, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Ideal Mother Award, pointed out that “youths, volunteers and parents may disagree about everything, but the only thing that we all agree on is that the mother of a disabled child faces difficulties to raise her son or daughter. At the first it may be difficult in accepting the dis- ability or educational or medical difficulties. Nevertheless, she still loves him or her”. Qaban hoped that The Ideal Mother Award widens to a pan-Arab level soon. Dari Al-Balihis was the master of the ceremony. Many disabled children participated in the event by reciting the Holy Quran and singing songs. The event included a poetic show with poet Iqbal Bulimia, and Waleed Al-Qallaf. A documentary film titled “The Way to our World” talked about the moth- er of an autistic child called Mishari and how she prepared him to be an almost normal person with great skills to be a “future pilot and artist”, as he said. At the end of the ceremony, the winning moth- ers were honored as ideal mothers. The winners ARE Cynthia Kurdish from Saudi Arabia, Raia Al-Mahrazi from United Arab Emirates, Fatima Hassan from Qatar, Iman Al-Nasser from Bahrain and Faiza Al- Rabea from Oman. The winners from Kuwait are Hessa Al-Melifi , Abeer Ajeel, Manal Sahar, Nasima Ahmed, Mariam Al-Moamen, Najat Riahi, Fatima Al- Edwani, Huda Al-Khalidi and Afaf Al-Ali. The Ideal Mother Award is an annual award offered by Al-Kharafi Activity Kids Center for dis- abled children. The award was established on Jan 1, 2013 and launched on March 19, 2013, to coincide with Mother’s Day, where the center honors the mothers with children in various centers that spe- cialize in people with disabilities.
