CEPSA ACROSS THE OIL VALUE CHAIN 1. EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION Search, discovery, and extraction of oil and natural gas, both onshore and offshore. 2. TRANSPORTATION Transportation of oil and gas through tankers or pipelines to their destinations. 3. REFINING This work, also called distillation, is carried out at refineries, where crude oil is turned into products and also raw materials for other industries. 4. CHEMICALS Chemicals plants make derivatives that are used as the raw materials needed to produce plastics, biodegradable detergents, paints, synthetic fibers, and more. 5. ELECTRICITY Cogeneration plants produce electricity and steam and are used at our plants, with any excess sold on the power market. 6. DISTRIBUTION AND MARKETING There are many petroleum derivatives. The most common are heating fuels, marine fuels, jet fuel, butane, propane, lubricants and asphalts.
