E very lasting change that you may wish to make should start with one small step. I’ve had my own fair share of “go big or go home” moves, but after awhile my momentum wanes and the new habits

fades. My real changes have been slow and deliberate, instead of fast and furious.

Life changes all the time, so we have to change too. We can’t treat our bodies like we are 22 when we are 42. We can’t be as self serving as we were before we had children. We can’t ignore the health

implications of diet and lifestyle when we know so much. We can’t work soulless jobs when we know they are killing us. We can choose to change or we can wait until we don’t have a choice.

I’ve used every excuse here, and hope that I can save you the trouble of working through them on your own. Excuses typically aren’t well thought out, reasonable objections, but instead, an

expression of fear to change.

i iDebt

Paying off debt gives you the freedom to make decisions based on

something besides money.

• Write down all of your debt, except for your house payment. Keep up monthly payments on all bills but

put more towards the smallest debt. Some will argue that you should pay

the debt with the highest interest rate first, but I disagree. Pay off the smallest debt first and let the joy of

accomplishment motivate you to pay the next. Start small and knock them

out, one by one.

ClutterBecoming Clutter free takes time. It often involves three steps forward and one step back. Start with one box and the corner

of one room, or a table top or counter top. Clear the area donating or trashing what you don’t need. Declare that space your clutter-free zone. Pretend that anything

that touches that area will go up in smoke, and be vigilant about keeping it clutter free. Enjoy the empty space, and use the feeling of clarity from an uncluttered space to give you the momentum to start another area.

When the change becomes “the new normal”, start working on the next small

change. i

WorkAre you doing meaningful work? Be

careful how you answer the question. Meaningful can be a variety of things. Things like creating art, saving lives,

inspiring others, feeding your family or employing other people. Starting a new career or business is scary stuff, but the rewards are amazing when you find the

right thing for you.If you find that right thing and decide to leave your current job, take slow,

deliberate action to move towards it.• How much money do you need (not want) to make to change your work

situation? If you are debt free, this part is easier.

• Brainstorm revenue streams. This may not apply if you are taking a salaried or

hourly position. Write those revenue streams down and see where the money

will come from. • Start saving. Set aside some months

of living expenses so that you don’t feel pressured to make your new business perform overnight. If you are leaving a good paying job to go out on your own,

you will hustle.• Don’t marry your business plan. If you

decide to work for yourself, give your business the flexibility to evolve and

change.• Dump bad ideas… just drop it. If you are starting your own business. You will have amazing ideas, life changing ideas and crappy ideas. Don’t be afraid to let the

crap go so you can focus on the amazing.

You might have to build your business while you are still on a regular day job.

While you think that may be exhausting, if you are building a business that excites you, you will have more energy than you

think.Adapting easily to change is a great skill to have in life and business. The best way to get more comfortable with change is to initiate it. Don’t wait for life to happen to you. Have reasonable expectations and

remember that overnight success typically takes years.

Start small and the result will be life changing.

Lastly and most importantly, remember that life goes on while you are making changes. You can’t put things on hold

until you are out of debt, skinnier, healthier or in a better mood.

Life is happening right now and it is up to you, regardless of circumstances, you

have to choose how you will experience it. Don’t wait. Just Live. Just start.

REMEMBER: IT’S OKAY TO START SMALL BUT NOT OKAY TO STAY SMALL.

Pick one of the following changes or make up your own and start small today.

Note

No More Excuses It will take too long.

It will take just as long regardless of the start date. If you start today, you’ll be in a better place next year. If you

start in five years, you’ll be in a better place in six. Right now

is the right time. What you can do tomorrow, you can do today.

You can do NOW!!!

Someone else already did it better than I can.

Ask them how they did it. Learn from them and then do it your way, ’cause you can get better at anything

you want. You have one thing that no one else has....Your life experiences and your

uniqueness.

People will think I’m weird.

You so right. And that doesn’t hurt.

1

I’m not ready. You will never be

ready because you don’t know what

you don’t know until you get started.

I don’t know if it will work.

You’ll never know until you try. If it

doesn’t work, find another way.

I don’t want to. You don’t have to

want to. Instead, want something as a result. For instance, you don’t want to give up sugar,

but you want to be healthier.

The Power of Executed

Ever had to deal with an annoying friend or somebody who’s just really self-destructive? Dump them. It’s time to create a positive environment for yourself.

Happy people gain happiness from the people they are with and not just from within. This is an amazing life hack that most people overlook. If you’re feeling unhappy, take a look around. Sometimes it’s the people that are just dragging you down.

Never, ever create unnecessary drama, and don’t put up with those who spew drama your way. The happiest people I’ve ever met care less about what random people say about them, especially if their remarks are rude. In fact, happy people are often thankful for all

the rude, obnoxious, and difficult people they meet in life, because these people serve as important reminders of how NOT to be. They simply smile and walk the other way. I challenge you to follow in their footsteps.

“You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with”.

Brilliant quote.

Team BuildingIf you give a good idea to a mediocre group, they’ll screw it up. If you give a mediocre idea to a good group, they’ll

fix it. Or they’ll throw it away and come up with something else.

Execution isn’t merely a multiplier. It’s far more powerful. How your team executes has the power to transform your idea from gold into lead or from

lead into gold.If you want to be successful, stop

worrying about the great ideas, and concentrate on cultivating great

teams.

Be OptimisticLack of focus and determination is the

perfect example of how your inability to believe in yourself will significantly limit

your growth.Execution is never perfect right from the

start, and it is to be remembered that no one will know right from the start what the end result of their business

looks like. Instead it is a constant work in progress

that is ever changing until it becomes this perfect business that not only

makes sense to you but makes sense to your clients, viewers or users. The important part is to make sure that

actions are continuous and change is welcomed rather than spending time in

the planning phases.

Create A Can-Do Enviroment

A leader really doesn’t have the power to get stuff done alone. But they have

the ability to create an environment that is comfortable, keeps people excited

about the goal and challenged to complete it.

Good leaders get people to do things because they’re totally committed and they have a clear picture of the target.

Spending an eternity planning for the perfect product.Wasting resources and wanting to implement all phases at once.Making funding a drawback and excuse for the lack of start.Making money the priority in the project, not the project itself.Allowing emotions to keep them from letting others in to help.Acting alone and not consulting with necessary people.

Be Excellent“Excellent Effective Execution” separates the best performing leaders and their companies from the

competition. The difference between successful people and companies, and everyone else isn’t that they’re

smarter but rather that they’re better at execution and excellently too.

The cavemen were the first to learn this. The rewards didn’t go to those who worked the hardest pushing the rock; the rewards went to those who pushed the

rock the farthest.

Be A Risk TakerRemember, life in itself is a risk. To be successful, you can’t run away from this. Fear of risk will continu-ally keep you locked down as you

wont end up doing anything at all. We don’t have all the answers but

we must move ahead anyways. Never forget that time doesn’t wait for you and that includes you who is doing something or you who is

doing nothing.

Take These Quick Steps For Your Ideas: • Make a reasonable 6 month plan.• Allocate a bit of your own funds to the project, if you are afraid to lose, you will

never make it.• Focus on the project itself, money will come later.• Take feedback from a neutral mindset.• Do not get emotional, remain passionate.• Retain your vision at all times and remind yourself of the end goal.• Start the process.

The rewards didn’t go to those who worked the hardest pushing the rock; the rewards went to

those who pushed the rock the farthest.

StellaRita’s

2I N S P I R I N G B U S I N E S SC

We are awed by the beauty of her fashion pieces, her fashion label (Zarita Couture) styled our coverpage - and then, we met her in person, and realised she wasn’t just all about style. Meet Mrs StellaRita Asogwa- A Multi-talented ‘young looking’

business woman - with an impeccable taste for good things. She definitely has got all her C’s working for her - Cool, Calm and Collected.

She opens up to Cera, and shares on life, business and and the future.

An EntrepreneurStellaRita stands out as a successful entrepreneur. She has a Chinese Restaurant called Marcoriano Chinese Restaurant which she has run successfully for about 5 years. She also owns a Salon and Spa known as LaRita’s Beauty Spa which has been running for 5 years. Her baby business is ZaRita Kouture. It’s barely two years but is quickly growing into a household name.

Love for fashionI have always loved fashion from when I can remember. In 2010, I caught the vision of establishing it as a brand and business while I was in Church, but I was held back by certain thoughts until 2012 when I eventually launched out with the help of someone who was already in the fashion industry.

Driving force?I love to see people beautifully dressed. And I love it even better when my outfit gives them that amazing outlook. This passion drives me to make the best I think of or Imagine. This is one of the reasons I also have the LaRita’s Beauty Spa.

Typical dayAs a parent, wife and entrepreneur, I have to split my time. I start my day with my

family in prayers afterwards, I have to prepare everyone for their day. I do the school runs myself. When they kids are in school, I head for my factory which I do three times during work days. This allows me to see the extent of work done, general inspection and give new instructions. After this, I go over to my office where I manage the Salon and Spa, the restaurant and the Kouture business.

When it’s afternoon, I have to go pick my kids from school, take them home. Get them to eat, have some rest and help them with their assignments.

During the late afternoon, I have to leave again to oversee the other branches of my business. From 7pm, I start closing down for the day.

Leisure TimeI don’t really have leisure time. I spend my work day running around. But I have learnt to set out weekends to be home. Saturdays and Sundays are my rest days which I also share with my family. I hardly go out during weekends except for very important issues. I also enjoy leisure time when I travel for Summer/holidays.

Wifely Duties and MotherhoodMy husband is a very busy man. He starts his day with the family prayers. He prepares and proceeds to his ventures. He

also tries to make out time when he can to join us for lunch. Generally, he is such an amazing husband and father.

My kids are my world. I dote on them a lot and we are all best friends. I assist them daily with their assignments. I do the school runs 3 times a day running both Primary and Secondary Schools per time. Once I’m home, its my family and I time. We all try to catch up on any free time we have. Maybe, that’s why we go to bed late.

Five Year VisionThe restaurant has a sister branch likewise LaRita’s Beauty Spa.

As for Zarita Kouture, I see it more like an International brand. After participating in the African Fashion Week in London, We got two outlets where we stock our pieces in the UK.

Inspire WomenLife comes with its own bit of challenges. Prayer is a major part of success. Never take that for granted.Be sure you are very passionate about what you do.Women were built to be great at multi-tasking. With this, the love they have for their family and the passion they have for what they do, they can whether any storm and triumph greatly.Fear will sometimes face you but the only way to conquer it is by doing what it’s stopping you from doing and excelling in it.

ChildhoodI was born in the 70’s. My dad was a military man and my mum was a teacher. Due to my dad’s profession, we moved a lot. At a time, we eventually had to settle down in Lagos with our mum while our dad continued moving.

While I was in Secondary School, my dad came down with a stroke and the family’s upkeep fall on my industrious mother. As a Home-Economist, she knew how to bake alot for business, she opened shops where she sold drinks, she also was running her salon business which I have taken after.

At 13, I had started working in her salon during my holidays and I was really good at it.

With all these, she was able to see us through school. I attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where I studied Economics and graduated in the year 2000 with a Second Class Upper.

My dad is still alive and has been living with the stroke for about 25years.

Dream for kidsI hope they can pick a thing or two from what I do. I have noticed that they are really good with massages. I don’t visit my Spa as often as I should because they give me one of the best massages.

I will also love them to follow their individual passion. I will gladly help them when I notice it. I simply want the very best for them.

Business name: La-Rita and Za-RitaI derived the names from the combination of my name and my daughters’ names.

Fabrics ChoiceWe are building a strong international brand. We can’t settle for less. I am a sucker for high quality so I get fabrics that I can use myself.

Plans for 2014I had one major plan for 2014 and that was to get a branch outside the shores of Nigeria and we have achieved that milestone as we now have two outlets in the UK where we stock our pieces. You don’t need to have so many goals. If it just one, put your weight behind it with the Grace God has given to you and achieve it.

AppreciationI appreciate my family for their understanding and assistance. I appreciate my workers who have being doing an amazing job. To my friends who have being there. To my customers that patronize us. To God almighty, my all in all.

Question: What makes Barack and Michelle Obama’s marriage so endearing and inspiring to millions of people around the world?

Answer: Their captivating relationship epitomizes character, class, intelligence, passion, respect, realness, and endurance. They show that marriages can indeed thrive in the difficult terrain of politics. They seem prefect, yet they are humble and relatable, and they’re devoted to encouraging other couples to build strong marriages and families. We love how President Obama is equally dedicated to strengthening the middle class, and providing affordable education and health care, as he is to being a doting husband and father. Michelle Obama is widely lauded for her impeccable style and class. However, she is as intelligent and dynamic as she is beautiful. 22years and still counting, what is their recipe?

How they Met

Mr. and Mrs. Obama met during the summer of 1989, when President Obama was a summer associate at the Chicago law firm - Sidley and Austin. Mrs. Obama, then Michelle Robinson, was Mr. Obama’s advisor.

In a 2007 interview with Ebony Magazine, Michelle relates, “He made the first move. I was skeptical at first; everyone was raving about this smart, attractive, young first-year associate they recruited from Harvard. Everyone was like, ‘Oh, he’s brilliant, he’s amazing and he’s attractive.’ I said, ‘Okay this is probably just a Brother that can talk straight.’ I already had in my mind that this guy was going to be lame. Then we went out to lunch and that first day I was really impressed. First, he was more attractive than his picture. He came in confident, at ease with himself. He was easy to talk to and had a good sense of humor.” Even though Mrs. Obama was impressed, she refused to go out with him again for an entire month. Finally, she gave in, and on their first date they spent the whole day together. They started off their date at the Art Institute, then had lunch at an outdoor cafe, followed by a movie, Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing, and finally a drink on the 99th floor of the John Hancock building.

The Obamas have inspired millions around the world and still counting. We share their story of hope and faith in themselves above all odds. If they did it, you too Can!

2President Obama shared with Oprah Winfrey in 2007, “On our first date, I treated [Michelle] to the finest ice cream Baskin-Robbins had to offer, our dinner table doubling as the curb. I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate.” After their first date Mrs. Obama admits, “We clicked right away…by the end of the date it was over…I was sold.”

Their Wedding and Marriage

About two years after their first date, President Obama popped the question at Gordon’s Restaurant (now known as Naha) on Clark Street in Chicago. He surprised Michelle.

When dessert was served, the engagement ring box was sitting on the plate! One year later, the couple tied the knot on October 3, 1992 at the Trinity United Church in Chicago. Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. officiated their traditional Christian ceremony, and their wedding was attended by 200 people. Michelle’s father died suddenly the year before the wedding, so Craig Robinson, Michelle’s brother, took his father’s place in walking her down the aisle. Of their vows, Michelle has said, “Barack didn’t pledge riches, only a life that would be interesting. On that promise he delivered.” Michelle’s wedding band was traditional, but Barack’s was an intricate gold design from Indonesia, where he had lived as a boy. Michelle wore a beautiful, off the shoulder, floor length, A-line gown. Barack wore a black suit with a white rose boutonniere. His best man was his half-brother, Malik Obama. In honor of the Obama’s Kenyan roots, some of the guests, including Malik, wore traditional Kenyan attire. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the South Shore Cultural Center, and the couple’s wedding song was Stevie Wonder’s “You and I.” In the days following the wedding, the newlyweds spent their honeymoon on the California coast. On July 4, 1998, the couple had their first child Malia Ann. Their second child Natasha, known to us as Sasha, was born on June 10, 2001. In a May 2012 interview with Ebony Magazine, the Obama’s emphasized the importance of balancing parenting despite their hectic schedules. Mrs. Obama revealed, “Basically, Barack and I feel that our greatest responsibility is to raise two productive, respectful, kind, empathetic young women….My husband talks to our girls about how he expects men in their lives to treat them, and he offers examples by how he treats me and how he treats them.”

Timeless Words of LoveN o marriage is perfect, but we love how the Obama’s accept

each other’s imperfections, while always striving to be better. In a 2007 interview with Ebony, President Obama shared, “It is important that when I’m home to make sure that I’m present, and I still forget stuff. As Michelle likes to say, ‘You are a good man, but you are still a man.’ I leave my socks around. I hang my pants on the door. I leave newspapers lying around. But she lets me know when I’m not acting right. She’s trained me reasonably well. She’s smart. She’s funny. She’s honest. She’s tough. I think of her as my best friend.”In an interview with Essence Magazine the First Lady shared this about her husband, “One of the things that attracted me to Barack was his emotional honesty. Right off the bat he said what he felt. There are no games with him—he is who he appears to be. I feel fortunate as a woman to have a husband who loves me and shows me in every way.” And in every way President Obama and the First Lady are an inspiration to us all.

* Happy Facts• Happiness is very fundamental in your success. When you’re happy, you’re effectively better in every aspect of your life.

• Happiness comes from shedding the unnecessary in life. You need to stop caring about certain things.

• A lot of these unnecessary things are painfully obvious. More often than not, it’s plain common sense.

Knowing how important this is in life and success, we must consider the necessary points happy people have succeeded in taking note of.

HappyKeys}}

20

Page 21: Cera Magazine Vol. 1

JobsThat’s not to say happy people are unemployed. The key idea is: You’re not your job.Sure, a job is important for stability and survival in today’s society. But other than that, your job scope and status at work should be left at the office. If you don’t, it’s going to seep into your ev-eryday life and you’d end up feeling tired, bored or stressed out. What matters more is your talent, passion and outlook on life. Allowing your job to take over any of that would only mean you’re allowing a label to define who you are.

Fear Someone rightly defined FEAR as False Evidence Appearing Real.Fear is not real. Happy people know that. With that, they know that the nervousness and anxiety that supposedly comes with fear are not real. They block it out, get out of their comfort zone and just do what they want anyway. There’s just no point holding back in life just because you feel a little scared.

The Negative State Of The WorldThere’s a lot of disturbing stuff going on out there. War, pro-tests, riots, animals going extinct or innocent people having bad things happen to them.Happy people don’t deny any of these, but they do a good job in making sure it doesn’t affect how they feel. The happiest people I know simply focus on trying to make the world a better place, one small step at a time. They may not be able to create a revolution overnight, but they know that by showing a little kindness and compassion to our fellow man, the world is that much more positive already.Don’t let the negativity in life get to you. It’s not your fault others have made it this way.

Learn To Say “No” SometimeS– Saying “yes” to everything puts you on the fast track to being miserable. Feeling like you’re doing busywork is often the result of saying “yes” too much. We all have obligations, but a comfort-able pace can only be found by properly managing your “yeses”. So stop saying “yes” when you want to say “no.” You can’t always be agreeable; that’s how people take advantage of you. Sometimes you have to set clear boundaries.Bottom line: Consider how very fortunate you are. Consider it every day. The more you count your blessings, the more blessings there will be to count, and the happier you will be.

i2

Self LoveThey leave space to love themselves too. – The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone else “too much” and completely forgetting that you are special too. Yes, nurture others, but don’t forget about yourself. Happy people know self-love isn’t selfish. They put their needs first because they see the power of showing up fully for others. When you take care of yourself, you are better able to help the people you care about. If you sacrifice all your needs in order to help them, you’re only showing up as a shell of your true self.

If you’re feeling unhappy, take a look around. Sometimes it’s the people that are just dragging you down.Never, ever create unnecessary drama, and don’t put up with those who spew drama your way. The happiest people I’ve ever met care less about what random people say about them, especially if their remarks are rude. In fact, happy people are often thankful for all the rude, obnoxious, and difficult people they meet in life, because these people serve as important re-minders of how NOT to be. They simply smile and walk the other way. I challenge you to follow in their footsteps.

ComplainingComplaining is the result of an

unhappy life. Sometimes things

don’t go your way. You can’t es-

cape that.

But complaining is useless. Happy

people know that. They’re instead,

grateful for what they have and

then they try to find the solution

with a positive mindset.

Conforming To Society’s StandardsJust like age, there’re a lot of labels out there that try to define who we are. Expectations are always thrown at us and it can be pretty overwhelming at times.Happy people don’t care for any of that. They take time their time. They look within and do what they want in life. This is how happiness is created: Not doing things you don’t care for.

Expect Nothing In ReturnStart doing things for the sake of doing things. Help others for the sake of being compassion-ate. The true reward is knowing that you’ve added positivity in others.Happy people let go of always wanting something in return. That’s how they never get disappointed. You want to be happy? Then look for ways to help others, in-stead of standing around and asking, “What’s in it for me?”

i2

The Past Or The FutureThe past does not exist, neither does the future. If you want to be happy, you’ve got to let go of the past and move on with life. Learn from it and grow from it, then make sure you don’t repeat the same mistakes. As for the future, happy people have being able to create a clear distinction between Hope and Worry. When you let go of the past and future, then you can truly enjoy the present.

iTylerPerry

T yler Perry was ready to give up on his dream. For years, he had poured his passion and money into performances of his first play, I Know I’ve Been Changed,

always hoping that this would be the one that drew a crowd.

But “every time I would go out to do the show, it would fail,” says Perry, the now highly successful author, director, producer and star.

“I would go to my boss and say, ‘I need time off to do the show.’ And they’d say no. I’d go to my desk, I’d sit and I’d pray. God would say, ‘Leave. Quit.’ I’d hear the voice as clear as day. I would leave, do the shows, and they would not work. I’d pray again: ‘God, where are you? You told me to leave.’ And I wouldn’t hear a thing.”

But he stuck with the play because he knew he was on to something. “The work was about adult survivors of child abuse and how one character confronted their abuser and went on to have a better life,” says Perry.

As a child, he himself had endured years of physical and emotional abuse by his father, who was prone to violent outbursts, especially when he drank. But unlike his onstage character, Perry had not yet confronted his own abuser. The message of being changed by forgiveness was there, but the play failed because the man reciting the lines had not yet felt it himself. It took a few years for him to get there. Back in 1992, Perry saw an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in which she recommended writing as a form of healing.

At that point in his life, he had never written about his abuse but decided to give it a try.

He wrote a series of letters—using “different characters’ names, because if anyone found it, I didn’t want them to know it was me.” Those letters eventually became I Know I’ve Been Changed. For the next six years, he performed the play, but it didn’t become a success until after he—like his character—confronted his abuser.

In 1998 “I had an argument with my father,” explains Perry, “I was screaming and yelling and using every four-letter word in the book; I was 28 years old and as profane as I could be. But I got an opportunity to have my catharsis on the phone.

After it was over, I was empty, and I went on this journey to find out what was ripped away. And of course any journey for me is going to begin with faith, begin with God. I didn’t pray immediately, because I was angry with God, angry with everybody. But remembering everything I had learned in church really helped me to get through that anger.

Prosperity came to him the moment he was able to face his gaint, deal with it and leave it be.A strong reason why you may still be at some level of ground zero may be because you haven’t dealt with your past and moved on. You keep pulling the weigh from ages past along with you into your promotion and that isn’t going to work. It’s time to purge yourself of every unforgiveness and move on. You don’t need the extra cabbage. But you sure need the best of luck that you deserve.

It’s hard to move on from a painful past, but actor Tyler Perry shares his inspiring story about letting go and building a new life.

iAre Your Ready To

Talk on Radio?

The emergence of talk radio to Nigerian broadcasting is totally unprecedented, especially the devotion and unrivaled response allowed on radio stations for Nigerians to bear their mind on

subject that may interest or even better, be just about them.

Nigeria Info Abuja may just be the station located in arguably the most important government capital city in Africa; Abuja. It can be said it is a liable partner in forming discussions that determine what’s next to be done in the world. One can describe it to be part of process of unparalleled feedback that moves the hands of the few that rule the biggest black nation in the world.

Talking is a vital part of Nigerians sense of democracy today, a privilege which was absent during the military era and post era, and could

be best described as the loudest language of silence which was never coherent enough to be recognized or represent the motion of the people at some time. It surely existed as a minor culture of a national tribe. Around the world, talk radio stations have a strong influence and knowledge of privileged circumstances on the thinking of the listeners, who surely want to be informed, educated and find where they stand on issues. With Nigeria Info many discussions appear to be a scribble of the mind of the citizens and careful laced with the emotions of the people.

The show, LetsTalk for example hosted by Swat and FemiD brings a lifestyle approach to discussions about the nation, its citizens and the people’s lives in the late evening with claw grabbing attention

on subjects you recognize or would need to know about through the week.

The dynamic duo show crucial attention to what is trending in people’s lives and it’s not difficult to tell they care about the listeners as much as the listeners care about the event that made their day. Swat’s sharp voice, depth, versatility and witty style is probably what endears her callers and listeners to her. Her background as a lawyer probably accounts for her oratory skills and depth which she brings to the fore in her interactions with the fans. She is able to balance issues or topics being discussed with tact and a gentle firmness especially with the callers who are a handful sometimes, which rightly earns her the title ‘Her Vocal Majesty’. She is indeed a delight and wonder to listen to on radio , a profession which she describes as her love and passion!

FemiD’s soft debates with listeners, fact checking mechanism keeps the discussion versatile, may even earn him the position of King of talk radio with a ‘no –dull’ moment verdict in every conversation. He enjoys unscripted, unpredictable and unvarnished moments of broadcast. Femi D’s journalism culture as spanned across major geopolitical zones of Nigeria, which best describes his insights into culture and its place in a discussion that never stops.

CERA magazine did ask about the role of talk radio and the lifestyle of Nigerians, from the King of talk radio, “Well, I see it differently, I personally believe that when I as a broadcaster make the news or discussion become penultimate, because I say so means I cannot be careless. It means there are listeners who wait for my breathing, reflection, inflection, use of words, voice tone, perspective or leadership on what the topic can become; now! that is broadcasting with a personality” according to Femi D of Nigeria Info FM Abuja.

In a country of bold opinions, democracy is fragile and talking in public spaces such as radio as a place in the emerging culture and the acceptance that may change the order of the country.

Body That

SimplyWorks!

The Right Body Can inspire you, to take on your plans faster and better. Read these tips to learn how.

In today’s hectic world that we live in, maintaining our good health care is very important for us to keep up with today’s economy lifestyle. We all need to be healthy regardless of our age or gender. In order to be considered healthy, we should have a

disease free body, fit and filled with abundant energy.

Want to become a healthier person? It’s all about making gradual changes. Health is a very important priority in life so what are you waiting for? Follow these steps.2

iGet lots of Sleep

In order to maintain a healthy body, you will need about 8 hours of sleep every day. This keeps you awake and alert, so you don’t have to drink caffeine and sugar-loaded energy drinks. If you are a kid and have early school times, go to sleep earlier on school nights.

Remember: Everything should be in

moderation

You should avoid depriving yourself of the things you love because the more you

do, the more you will crave them. This craving behavior happens to anyone who tries to lose weight by starving themselves

of the things they enjoy, believe me!

Tune into your Stomach

If it’s crying out for food with hunger pains (not psychological/emotional hunger pains), let it have something to eat. You can still lose weight and be full-up, it just depends on what you eat. If you have to follow any eating regime, try to stick to foods low on the glycemic index, which fill you up, but are healthy at the same time.

Practice healthy living styles with proper food

habits and exercise

To achieve a healthy body, we cannot be lazy and lethargic. We need to work hard, both physically and mentally to be fit and healthy. Exercise and eating healthy foods is essential to promote a healthy body.

Only do Exercise that you Enjoy

Ideally it should make you feel good when you participate, and doesn’t create a sense of dread or “I can’t be bothered.” It has been scientifically proven that the more you try to make yourself do something you don’t find pleasure in, the more likely you are guaranteed to fail. Fact! HOWEVER, if you are not used to a regular exercising regime, you need to allow your body and mind time to adjust to a new routine, so give it a few weeks and if you still don’t enjoy your exercise

choice, try something different.

Give yourself a chance to adjust to any new regime

Don’t be hard on yourself if you don’t lose a pound in a week, know that you are doing the best you know how. The most important thing is to notice any emotional eating patterns. If you find that you constantly crave food when you’re bored, lonely, depressed, happy, guilty then you are only eating away at your emotions, and the feeling will still be there after you’ve eaten the food. It may numb any emotional pain for a brief half an hour but you could end up feeling worse after eating something which in your opinion is “bad” (no food is bad if it’s eaten in moderation).

You Look in the Mirror

Learn to be nice to yourself. So many times people decide that if they lose weight they will be happier, feel more sexy, have more friends/relationships, be popular, get more respect. All these things you can have at any body shape or size if you can learn to find the balance first. If you learn to love what is on the inside, the rest falls into place. This is a big challenge for so many people but it’s important to gain the quality that you are looking for first rather than decide to be happier, more popular, have respect, and feel sexy after you lose weight. 2

iFightingFear

Steering Through the FearMaybe your scary/interesting goal involves something you have to do, Maybe it involves a cause, or maybe it’s pure thrill. The best activities answer to all three masters—for example, a career can pay the bills, serve the world, and frighten you just enough to keep life interesting. But even in such ideal cases, scary is still scary. Fear often stops us from acting even when fascination won’t let us walk away.

BCurl Up. Keep taking

one more step.

Celebrate each step.

Plan your Progress.

Watch the path, not the

obstacles. Take one

step toward your goal.

After you’ve achieved one of those things you are scared of, curl up. Find some form of relaxation that works for you just for a brief moment to help your mind digest your accomplishment and prepare for another!

Heroes aren’t free from fear; they’re just so focused on a worthy goal that they feel they can’t turn back. Most of human’s great achievements—the sorts of things that make us say, “Oh, wow!”—were accomplished by people who were muttering or shouting, “Oh, hell!” Heroes don’t feel special, just dogged. They walk their scary paths with shaky knees and trembling hands. One shaky, trembling step at a time.

Many people think they don’t deserve to celebrate until they’ve conquered huge fears to reach epic milestones. Not me. To stay motivated, I celebrate after I make one bed, write one e-mail, fill out one page of a form. Even if you’re much more courageous than I am, I suggest you do the same. Celebrating makes fascination all the more joyful—and it builds confidence, which is much more useful than avoiding fear.

After your curl up time has marginally calmed you, take a deep breath and begin outlining a step-by-step plan to achieve your scary objective. Your fear will want to drag you into obsessing about possible problems in the future. But be here now: Your job at this moment isn’t facing what you fear, but planning to face it. While you’re planning, don’t execute or fret. Just plan.

Hockey Player says: “When you shoot,” you never want to look at the goal-keeper. Look at the space around him. Where your eyes go, the ball goes.” White-water kayaker warns: “Look at the water, not at the rocks. Where your eyes go, the boat goes.” Riding instructor advises: “Look where you want to go, not where you don’t. Where your eyes go, the horse goes.” Got it? Where our attention goes, our lives go. As you take each step, be peripherally aware of dangers, but glue your attention to the path between them.

If you live this way—seeking out what captivates and cows you, pushing beyond your comfort zone, making sure you’re serving a noble purpose—you’ll live a life full of absorbing adventures. You may even save the world. In which case, the rest of us just might end up watching you on TV, in between doctors diagnosing horrible illnesses or detectives solving grisly murders. And just think how thrilling that would be.

A good planner breaks down every challenge into manageable chunks. Once you’ve done that, forget about the long term and take the step that’s directly in front of you. Don’t even think about the next one. You only have to take that one step.

I was younger, I realized that since everything scared me, I could either do scary things or kill myself; fortunately, I was too scared to kill myself. Since then, I’ve done at least one thing I was afraid to do at every given moment.

So I can promise you, the process below has been battle-tested. Holding your fascinating, frightening, heroic goal in mind, simply follow these steps:

Book Review

Very rarely do we get to be taken on a journey through the mind of a person. When, though, this happens, and it is a beautiful mind, we are left feeling distinctly elevated. It is a rare occurrence or truly beautiful minds are scarce. ‘Lamide Johnson is a truly beautiful mind. And in this debut, he takes

us on a beautiful journey.

With divinely inspired words, he opens the reader’s eyes and hearts to deep truths, revealed in soul-moving words and, like the title of the book suggests, he unveils a vast continuum of the human experience as he moves in interaction with the supernatural plane.

The unique styling of each chapter, which is quite different from every book off the shelf, brings to fore the inner workings of a world that exists beneath the surface, a world as genuine and as potent in its effect on our lives as the world which we live in and perceive with our senses, perhaps even more so.

It talks of themes like love and hurt, pain and healing, God and life. And readers are drawn in, into a paradoxical stream of knowledge that drowns us yet gives us more life. It is, on every level, a brilliant work.

‘Lamide Johnson’s entrance shows his unveiling to the world, and it is definitely a sight for sore eyes. More than that, however, he has guided us into unveiling ourselves and the knowledge of the truth within.
