OverviewThe CertICT takes place fully online in our specially designed mobile-compatible Moodle VLE (Virtual Learning Environment). All three CertICTmodules are structured around weekly deadlines, and you are in constantand close contact with your course colleagues and your tutor throughoutthe course. The modules are very highly tutor-supported: groups of 10+participants have two tutors. You also attend regular synchronous (or ‘realtime’) videoconferencing sessions with your tutor and course colleagues,to help you reflect upon your coursework and to learn more aboutsynchronous online teaching.

For Modules 1 and 2 of the CertICT, you are expected to spend at least 6to 7hoursperweekononline individual, pair andcollaborative groupwork, including offline reading and reflection. Deadlines for task completion areweekly, and you can log on at any point during the week to work on thecourse (note that, at times, pair and group work tasks have mid-weekdeadlines). There are no 'fixed' times to be online to complete your weeklywork, apart from regular timetabled online videoconferencing sessions;the dates and times of these are negotiated to suit everyone on the course.

Module 3 consists of the ICT course project, which you develop and carryout within a period of 6 weeks. This is a lesson (or series of lessons) thatyou teach with a group of your own students in your own classroom. Thelesson needs to implement a technology or approach that you have learntabout during Modules 1 and 2. It is an opportunity to try out a tool, technique or technology-based project in practice, and to reflect on theexperience. You have 6weeks inwhich to plan, implement and then reflecton your lesson, and your tutor supports you at each of these stages. Youare provided with templates, advice and tutor support for each stage ofyour project, as well as examples of real past projects that were awardedDistinctions. How does Module 3 work in practice? First you develop andsubmit a project lessonplan to your tutor for feedback. Youare also invitedto share your plan with your course colleagues. Once you have receivedyour tutor’s detailed feedback, youcan take this into account andcarry outyour lesson with your students. Finally, guidelines are provided for you toreflect on the experience, and to write it up in the form of a project reportfor the external Trinity College Londonmoderator. Your tutor submits yourreport to Trinity along with his/her own evaluation of your ICT courseproject.
