BACKGROUND Tourism and hospital i ty industry in India is in nascent

stages of growth. Industry requires scienti f ic inquiry and

discussion on issues of contemporary interest. There is a

need of more t ra ined researchers in the area who could

contr ibute value to the exist ing body of know ledge. I t is a

well accepted fact that increased participation in research

w ou ld lead to bo t h creat ion o f new know ledge and added

qual ity o f classroom del iberat ions w i th next generat ion of

learners. Country t herefore requires a pool o f ta lented a ndtrained re searchers in the f ie ld o f to ur ism and ho spi ta l ity .

A num ber o f researchers are gett ing sel f enro l led or p lan to

get enro l led in PhD program m es w i th d i f ferent un iversi t ies

across th e coun tr y. There is nee d for a r igorous tra ining in

research. I ITTM has need resources and exper t ise t o h elp

such young researchers. This programme is therefore

proposed.

CONCEPT Th is programme of one-semester durat ion is open to a l lindividuals who are interested in a r igorous training in

research methodology especial ly in tour ism and related

fields. Program m e shall accep t cand idat es registe red in

d if fe ren t facu lt ies/ depar tm ents- tour ism , m anagem ent ,

com m erce, econom ics, et c.

C. Analytical tools for Research- This is a laboratorywork based course. Learners would a lso be ab le to

use standard softw are for analysis and w ould be ab le

to in te rpret resul ts. Learners w ould appreciate the

importance of too ls and si tuat ions in which these

tools m ay be used. There w i ll be inputs on M S Excel ,SPSS, etc.
