ENTRY REQUIREMENTSWhen you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have theright pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that youmeet the requirements listed in this section.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for this course, you need to demonstrate the following:

 That you have achieved a Certificate II in Animal Care as evidenced by a copy of your certificate or transcript or■

 That you have achieved a Certificate III or higher-level qualification in an animal science discipline as evidenced by a copy of your

certificate or transcript or

 That you have the skills and knowledge in a relevant animal science discipline as evidenced by your resume or interview with your

teacher and

 That you are employed in or have secured work placement in a veterinary practice, clinic or hospital for a minimum of 480 hours as

evidenced by a signed letter from a veterinary practice

TraineeshipTAFE NSW also offers the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing as a traineeship. In addition to meeting the aboverequirements, trainees must:

 Be employed in the veterinary nursing industry as this course is delivered in the workplace■

 Have a signed traineeship contract■

WORK PLACEMENT

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicatedin a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning andassessment in the workplace.

During your course you will undertake a mandatory 480 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.

You are responsible for arranging your own work placement. Our team can offer support and a letter of introductionincluding:

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence of:

 Completion of Certificate II Animal Studies or higher animal care qualification or suitable work experience and work placement of at

least 8 hours per week in a veterinary clinic. Please supply your transcripts of course completion and a letter from your clinic

confirming placement. This letter should contain a start date, hours per week, the duties you will be undertaking and the contact

This is a full time on campus course. You must attend approximately 15 hours of class. You may also be required tocomplete approximately 11 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placementsand research.

First Qualification Fee

Applies to a student who does not already hold a post-school qualification from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.

Subsequent Qualification Fee

Applies to a student who already holds one or more post-school qualifications from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.

Apprenticeship Fee

Eligible apprentices are exempt from fees when undertaking an apprenticeship under the NSW Government's Fee FreeApprenticeship. For apprentices who are not eligible, apprenticeship qualification fees are capped at $2,000.
