Application Process

• Applicant submits form to the GCCC Certification

Program Manager (CPM)

• Candidate entered into database and candidate number

assigned

• Reviewed by CPM with for verification of information

• Approved applicants may proceed to exam

• If not approved, applicant receives report identifying

deficiencies

– Has the opportunity to address deficiencies and supply further

information

Exam Preparation

• 2015 – Webinar provided to approved candidates

– Job Task Analysis available

• Beyond

– Sample questions on web site and in handbook

• IABC Academy offerings to align with job task

analysis

• All education and training providers can be

evaluated by GCCC

Examination

• Candidate registers for exam

• Candidate has two years to attempt and pass the

exam

• If Pass

– Receives certificate

– Enters maintenance phase

• If Fail

– Receives report identifying areas for improvement

– Retake within two years

– If fail three times, leaves program and reapplies at a future

date

Maintenance

• Annual Cycle

• Earn 40 points

– Combination of several options

• Self-reporting

– Staff will audit a sample periodically

– Annual status report to each CMP

• Cycle maintenance fee (paid at beginning of each

cycle)

• New certificate issued upon completion and new

cycle commences

analysis

Multiple Choice Exams

• Multiple choice questions are used extensively to test

these qualities within most credentialed programs,

including doctors, surgeons, accountants, lawyers, and

others as complex as communication
