The Certified Dental Assisting Program (onsite) provides graduates with the knowledge and practical experi-ence to enter a career as a Practicing Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). Graduates will acquire the specialized knowledge, skills and attitudes to function as a dental health team member with dependent, interrelated and independent roles.

Admission Requirements

Grade 12 graduation

Either Biology 11 or Biology 12 (human biology recommended) or equivalent

English language requirements, such as:

English 12 with a B or higher, or

3 credits of University English (English-Speaking countries) each with 64% or higher, or

VCC English Language Assessment (ELA) - (Listening 25/30, Speaking 27/30, Reading 50/70, Essay 16/20) , or

VCC ESL Pathway Level 8 (ELSK 0815 and 0820)

Courses

This three-term program is competency based and is taught in modern clinical facilities shared with other VCC Dental programs. The clinical competencies and supporting theory are organized according to the health model of Preparation for Practice, Patient Assessment Theory, Planning Implementation and Evaluation Practice. Term 1 focuses primarily on the chairside dental assisting aspects of practice, with Term 2 and 3 building on certified skills and independent practice. Classes are generally held 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, Monday - Friday, with the exception of clinical/practicum expe-rience and some evenings and Saturdays may be required. Class times are subject to change.

Tuition fees and other fees are approximate and subject to change due to yearly increases without notice. Students will be

required to pay increased rates if the fees change at any time during the period of enrolment in the program.

The application fee is non-refundable.
