Events Industry Council Eligibility Requirements/Professional Experience and Continuing Education

The CMP measures professional competency. If you have the drive, professionalism and have decided that meeting planning is your career,you should be a CMP.For over a decade, MSAE has o�ered an in-person classroom Prep Course. It recently launched a virtual Prep Course to allow candidates from anywhere in the world to participate in real time from the comfort of their home or o�ce.

We will now o�er two MSAE CMP Preparation Courses which will cover the EIC competency outlines on all 9 domains. the courses will run January -April and September - December 2020.

What is the CMP Designation?

Events Industry Council (EIC) launched the CMP

Designation in 1985 as a method to distinguish individuals who have achieved the industry’s highest standard of professionalism. �e requirements for certi�cation are based on professional experiences, education and a rigorous exam.

Applicants need 36 months of full-time employment in the meetings industry as well as 25 hours of continuing education. Applicants with a degree in Event Management or Hospitality will only need 24 months of full-time employment. All activities must be within the past five years. Industry-related internship may count for your 25 clock hours of continuing education.
